2. Social Groups represented
• Gender- In our thriller, we focused on a male antagonist
because from our research into conventions of a thriller we
found that the antagonist is only female on rare occasions.
Perhaps having a male psycho-antagonist portrays the idea
that even the strongest of genders can be vulnerable to
psychopathology.
• Age- We chose the antagonist to be a teen because people
are thought to be the most sociable and the stage in their life
where they experience most things and are new to this given
freedom they have, However we deliberately contrasted all
the positive aspects of teenhood and portrayed it through out
antagonist as he is awkward with an anti-social nature.

3. Is gender represented in a stereotypical way?
• I believe that the male stereotype is represented in our
thriller opening. Firstly a male plays our antagonist role which
is common to see in a thriller as men often demonstrate the
dominancy between the genders and is often the physical/
practical aspect of films; ideal of our character. However our
antagonist is weak-minded and often gives in to the thoughts
that occur in his head which leads him to the killings. This is
portrayed through the tear he shed at the beginning.
• We stereotyped the role of the women by portraying them as
the victim in our thriller. This conforms to the stereotype
because we made it seem like women are more weaker and
more vulnerable of the genders.

6. How does this link to our target
audience?
• The genders and age represented in our thriller links to our
target audience to an extent because they are generic factors
in not just thriller but almost any film genre which means that
they can easily be interpreted and identified which helps us
portray the plot more smoothly knowing that the audience
understand who’s who in the opening however it doesn’t
entirely effect their viewing pleasure; because they are
common stereotypes in films it just makes the plot more
realistic.
