COMPANY INFORMATION
7
1. Identify and describe the main operating activities and the
form of organization for this business.
Operation activities are generally the daily processes that
generate money for a business. Core activities of a company
such as manufacturing; marketing and selling form the main
operating activities. They furthermore, provide majority of the
cash flow for a company. Profitability of a company largely
depends on them. Partnership is the main form of the business
unit used at the place with marketing coming out to be the main
economic activity in the place.
2. Determine and explain why the owner(s) chose this particular
form of organization.
A partnership was suitable for the business as it provided room
for coming together and easily sharing on the main challenges
of the business. Combination of efforts by members and the
general concern about the total wellbeing of the people in the
place made it easy for the growth of the business (Gigli and
Agrawala, 2007). Easy understanding among the members of the
group made it easy for the partnership to grow fast as they
would easily agree on something.
3. Identify any special advantages and/or disadvantages the
owner(s) experiences in operating with this form of business
organization.
The main reason for choosing the partnership as the form of
business is that it is easy to start and operate. The registration
process is simple and does not take long. Decisions made from
this kind of process are easy as they involve the combination of
efforts from different parties. Quality of decisions makes the
business to be stable and operate well. Easy to raise and
generate more capital for developing and making the business
grows at a fast rate (Boyle et.al, 1997). Division of labor makes
it easy to share and distribute responsibilities among the
members of the groups. On the other hand, the decision making
process takes a lot of time before coming to a mutual conclusion
hence termed as slow.
1. Does the company prepare interim financial statements? What
time period(s) is used for interim statements?
The company uses interim financial statements. The period is
less than one year. In many cases, the statements are given for
the quarters between the existing annual financial statements. It
gives users and investors detailed and updated information on
the operations of the corporation.
2. Does the company use the cash or accrual basis of
accounting?
The company uses accrual accounting basis by matching
expenses with the various related revenues and tend to be
reported when they occur or take place rather than when the
cash is paid.
3. Does the company use a work sheet in preparing financial
statements? Why or why not?
The company uses worksheets in its operations. Main reason is
because they provide much detailed information and ways on
how image processing operations can be acquired in processed
packages. Furthermore, each worksheet tends to describe one
operator. By specifying more about operators, the worksheets
help in describing variation sources. Worksheets deliver and
summarize content in a more effective manner. It aids in
connecting new materials with the ones that have been used
previously.
4. Does the company use a spreadsheet program? If so, which
software program is used?
The company uses apache open office calculator. It feels more
like putting to use an old version of the excel document. Users
often find it easy as the functionality and interfaces of the
software are familiar and resemble one another. It helps new
users to find a given data set as intuitive while the experienced
ones have the opportunity to manipulate its functionality.
Google office applications have spreadsheet tools that help its
users to calculate and work on the documents.
5. How long does it take after the end of its reporting period to
complete annual statements?
Statements are not specified on when they will be completed but
upon getting the data the experts start working on it
immediately and end up getting the desired feedback. However,
duration not less than six months is sufficient to give feedback.

Niemann (2008) defines supply as the total amount of a service
or product that is readily available for purchase at any given
time. The three major factors that determine supply include the
price producers will come up with, costs of inputs and the price
of other related goods. Supply is good as it ensures that not
only goods reach customers but also the services they
continually wish to have. The study is going to look at Brilliant
Minds Supply Company by taking note of the main issues that
revolve around the supply field. Furthermore, it is going to
cover the strengths and challenges encountered by supply
companies.
Brilliant Minds Company
Brilliant Minds Limited Liability Company is a business unit
that deals with supplying cleaning products not only to business
enterprises but also to other companies and institutions in need
of cleaning services. The company started back in 2010as a sole
proprietorship business unit managed and operated under the
leadership of Bobby Johnson. Combination of efforts with other
friends in business saw the business grow to a partnership. Two
years down the line, it has grown into a big company that
continues to expound to many parts of the world. In addition,
the company was registered under Act20of the constitution.
Products
Cleaning is considered to be a very important part of daily life
and with cleaning supplies from Brilliant Minds Company,
customers’ facilities often look their best at all times in life.
From the latest types of cleaning solutions and various
janitorial equipments to furniture care and floor products, the
company offers janitorial supplies and products used for
cleaning to keep places clean and fresh. Apart from ensuring
that the place is clean, the services offered help in the
eradication of germs. The company believes that that there is
more to care and cleaning equipment, paper products and a
variety of cleaning chemicals. It facilitates in promoting clean
environments.
Services
Under the supply of services and goods Act of 2012, the
company complies with terms implied by law in any given
contract. Traders from the company assigned with the duties of
supplying products must meet some given standards and
criteria. Services must be done with reasonable skills and care.
Employees are supposed to act accordingly and risk is given to
failing to achieve certain objectives. In addition, the traders are
given a certain duration of completing a certain service.
Reasonable time space is usually given in situations that lack
good contracts. The space is determined by the circumstances
surrounding a particular business. Reasonable charges are
expected for a service offered. Good contracts from the
company specify how a service will be charged (Lesjean et.al,
2000). Furthermore, the company has persons that are given the
right of supplying such as corresponding with the descriptions
of a place. They must fit their purposes by supplying good that
cater for the requirements.
Market and customer base
Brilliant Minds Company has several channels as its source of
market. Firstly, the company targets at supplying the products
to some of the world leading companies that is always in need
of cleaning services and products. To add on the above, it has
been seen that a good number of well established companies
have clean premises hence they need a stable supplier to supply
them with cleaning materials. Another good source of market is
learning institutions. It has been seen that students need
cleaning on a daily basis. Starting from their personal hygiene
to the school in general, learning institutions need to do a lot of
cleaning services according to Cristina et.al (2005). Equipments
used in carrying out experiments needs to be cleaned on a daily
basis. Lab coats and other kinds of related materials also need
cleaning for them to be used by students for the next lesson.
Business firms and enterprises such as supermarkets also
request to be supplied with cleaning materials not only for sale
but for use as Well. The Company also gets tenders from
government related bodies that are in need of supply materials
on a regular basis during different times of the year.
Competition Strategies
The company uses the following strategies to overcome
competition from outside. Supplying products that are not
supplied by other cleaning companies is one of the reasons why
it performs well. Agents and analysts take time to conduct
research on the outside market and come up with a list of
products that will not only attract customers but ensure that
they increase the competitive advantage (Niemann, 2008).
Proper figuring out is done before actually deciding on the
products that the company will continue to supply. Letting the
customers know what the company does best is a major
competitive tool that has ever been employed at the place.
Coming up with unique ways of letting customers know what
the company is good at is one of the best ways of dealing with
the overgrowing outside competition(Mazars et.al,2001).
Experts have revealed that being unique is one of the ways a
business can use to gain a competitive advantage over others.
Taking active part in community related projects; helps boost an
increase in the number of customers eventually adding
competitive advantage. Projects such as raising funds to support
certain development projects is one way the company ensures
that it is gaining strengths and outdoing its rivals. Engaging and
taking interest in community related works gives the people the
feeling of caring hence they join hands by working and
cooperating together with the company.
Advertisement and Marketing Techniques
To begin with, using effective headlines is one good way of
ensuring that a product is well marketed to the outside
community. It is very crucial that headlines used capture the
attention of customers by having a nice and appealing title.
Experts say that headlines form about 70percent of an advert
made. The company uses headlines that lead to good responses
from the customers expanding the market. Frequent cross
promotions is another good strategy used by the company.
Teaming up with other companies is a good way of expanding
the audience capacity. Business promoting companies are found
and offer and complement services on the behalf of Brilliant
Minds Company. Cooperating and working with companies that
produce majority of the products supplied is one way the
business expands its market base as explained by Lesjean
et.al(2000). Humor and content that is outrageous are some of
the ways of gaining audience and a good brand name. By getting
the help of TV and radio commercials, many adverts tend to
capture the interest and leave impressions of corporate brands in
many minds of the people. Internet marketing is another good
way of helping to spread information. The company uses links
and sending adverts to social media to capture the attention of
potential customers.
Damage Control
The company comes up with ways of avoiding damage to
materials. Training employees on ways of taking care of the
company’s resources is one way of ensuring that they learn of
how to conserve resources and handle tools with care.
Employees are trained upon being accepted as part of the
company’s staff hence they end up working with enthusiasm.
Setting boundaries and limits is one of the ways that ensures
that customers do not damage anything in case there is a
complaint or inquirer to be made. Policies clearly indicate the
punishment that will be given for committing some acts hence
people work with care when they visit the place.
Challenges Facing Brilliant Minds Company.
The company faces the problems of poor transport and
communication networks to facilitate the supply of goods and
commodities. Majority of the roads used are damaged to the
extent of making the transportation process to slow down.
Furthermore, communication problems a good example being;
network connection, often make it hard for traders to
communicate and pass information on what is to be done.
Adequate security is also a challenge as many of the company’s
vehicles are stopped and hijacked by gang stars. Measures are
coming up to deal with the challenge.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it has been seen that Brilliant Minds is a
company that has specialized in supplying cleaning materials
and tools to other places. By looking for the best strategies in
many sectors of the company, measures have been laid to ensure
that there is peace and harmony at the place and operations run
smoothly.

There are 2 assignments for this unit. Please read this section
carefully for completing the assignments.
Unit 4 Assignment 1
Problem 7-4A – found on p. 320 of you textbook (Worth 10
Points).
Problem 8-1A – found on pp. 359 - 360 of your textbook (Worth
30 Points).
Unit 4 Assignment 2 – Case Study, Part 2
Case Study | Part 2
The second and final part of this project is due at the end of
Unit 4. Part 2 of the Case Study Project is a PowerPoint
presentation with voiceover. The Voiceover will be the
narrative you would be presenting as if this were a live
presentation. You will, in essence, be making a presentation to
the Board of Directors of your organization.
Your Unit 2 Part 1 of the Case Study will be the beginning point
for your PowerPoint presentation.
Begin with a brief introduction of the company. Then, using
your Unit 2 Case Study assignment as the basis, build a
PowerPoint Presentation that discusses all required components
of textbook “Between the Numbers” problems BTN 1-8 and
BTN 3-8.
In addition to the information included in your previous Case
Study Part 1, include 1 or 2 slides that will incorporate the
requirements for the Between the Numbers Problem BTN 6-8 on
page 291 of your textbook. But, instead of using a local college,
respond to the requirements for BTN 6-8 using YOUR company.
Keep in mind that the members of the board may or may not
have read the report you completed in Parts 1 of the project.
Even though this will be a brief presentation, it should include
all essential information and data. This aspect of the
presentation, but also the proper perspective they need to make
informed decisions.
Conclude your presentation with a Summary slide.
The Power Point presentation should include 10 – 12 slides. The
first slide must be a title slide, and the final slide must be your
reference list. The presentation itself (voiceover) should be 8-10
minutes long. In addition to recording the Voiceover, the text of
your Voiceover must be written into the “Notes” section of each
slide. Proper grammar and spelling will be an important part of
the assignment. Be sure to perform a Spell Check.
Remember this very important presentation technique – Do not
present slides that contain too much information. Keep the
slides clean and uncluttered by using bullet points. The “Notes”
section is there to allow you to provide the details about the
presentation. The slides should also be designed to serve as the
basis for the Voiceover Narrative. If you design you bullet
points correctly, you will not need to read the information on
the slide. Rather, the slides should simply be an outline or
“platform” from which you launch your presentation.

  • 1. Running head: COMPANY INFORMATION 1 COMPANY INFORMATION 7 1. Identify and describe the main operating activities and the form of organization for this business. Operation activities are generally the daily processes that generate money for a business. Core activities of a company such as manufacturing; marketing and selling form the main operating activities. They furthermore, provide majority of the cash flow for a company. Profitability of a company largely depends on them. Partnership is the main form of the business unit used at the place with marketing coming out to be the main economic activity in the place. 2. Determine and explain why the owner(s) chose this particular form of organization. A partnership was suitable for the business as it provided room for coming together and easily sharing on the main challenges of the business. Combination of efforts by members and the general concern about the total wellbeing of the people in the place made it easy for the growth of the business (Gigli and Agrawala, 2007). Easy understanding among the members of the group made it easy for the partnership to grow fast as they would easily agree on something. 3. Identify any special advantages and/or disadvantages the owner(s) experiences in operating with this form of business organization. The main reason for choosing the partnership as the form of business is that it is easy to start and operate. The registration process is simple and does not take long. Decisions made from this kind of process are easy as they involve the combination of
  • 2. efforts from different parties. Quality of decisions makes the business to be stable and operate well. Easy to raise and generate more capital for developing and making the business grows at a fast rate (Boyle et.al, 1997). Division of labor makes it easy to share and distribute responsibilities among the members of the groups. On the other hand, the decision making process takes a lot of time before coming to a mutual conclusion hence termed as slow. 1. Does the company prepare interim financial statements? What time period(s) is used for interim statements? The company uses interim financial statements. The period is less than one year. In many cases, the statements are given for the quarters between the existing annual financial statements. It gives users and investors detailed and updated information on the operations of the corporation. 2. Does the company use the cash or accrual basis of accounting? The company uses accrual accounting basis by matching expenses with the various related revenues and tend to be reported when they occur or take place rather than when the cash is paid. 3. Does the company use a work sheet in preparing financial statements? Why or why not? The company uses worksheets in its operations. Main reason is because they provide much detailed information and ways on how image processing operations can be acquired in processed packages. Furthermore, each worksheet tends to describe one operator. By specifying more about operators, the worksheets help in describing variation sources. Worksheets deliver and summarize content in a more effective manner. It aids in connecting new materials with the ones that have been used previously. 4. Does the company use a spreadsheet program? If so, which
  • 3. software program is used? The company uses apache open office calculator. It feels more like putting to use an old version of the excel document. Users often find it easy as the functionality and interfaces of the software are familiar and resemble one another. It helps new users to find a given data set as intuitive while the experienced ones have the opportunity to manipulate its functionality. Google office applications have spreadsheet tools that help its users to calculate and work on the documents. 5. Statements are not specified on when they will be completed but upon getting the data the experts start working on it immediately and end up getting the desired feedback. However, duration not less than six months is sufficient to give feedback. Company Information Dudley Greene Kaplan University April 7, 2015
  • 4. Niemann (2008) defines supply as the total amount of a service or product that is readily available for purchase at any given time. The three major factors that determine supply include the price producers will come up with, costs of inputs and the price of other related goods. Supply is good as it ensures that not only goods reach customers but also the services they continually wish to have. The study is going to look at Brilliant Minds Supply Company by taking note of the main issues that revolve around the supply field. Furthermore, it is going to cover the strengths and challenges encountered by supply companies. Brilliant Minds Company Brilliant Minds Limited Liability Company is a business unit that deals with supplying cleaning products not only to business enterprises but also to other companies and institutions in need of cleaning services. The company started back in 2010as a sole proprietorship business unit managed and operated under the leadership of Bobby Johnson. Combination of efforts with other friends in business saw the business grow to a partnership. Two years down the line, it has grown into a big company that continues to expound to many parts of the world. In addition, the company was registered under Act20of the constitution. Products Cleaning is considered to be a very important part of daily life and with cleaning supplies from Brilliant Minds Company, customers’ facilities often look their best at all times in life. From the latest types of cleaning solutions and various janitorial equipments to furniture care and floor products, the company offers janitorial supplies and products used for cleaning to keep places clean and fresh. Apart from ensuring that the place is clean, the services offered help in the eradication of germs. The company believes that that there is more to care and cleaning equipment, paper products and a variety of cleaning chemicals. It facilitates in promoting clean environments.
  • 5. Services Under the supply of services and goods Act of 2012, the company complies with terms implied by law in any given contract. Traders from the company assigned with the duties of supplying products must meet some given standards and criteria. Services must be done with reasonable skills and care. Employees are supposed to act accordingly and risk is given to failing to achieve certain objectives. In addition, the traders are given a certain duration of completing a certain service. Reasonable time space is usually given in situations that lack good contracts. The space is determined by the circumstances surrounding a particular business. Reasonable charges are expected for a service offered. Good contracts from the company specify how a service will be charged (Lesjean et.al, 2000). Furthermore, the company has persons that are given the right of supplying such as corresponding with the descriptions of a place. They must fit their purposes by supplying good that cater for the requirements. Market and customer base Brilliant Minds Company has several channels as its source of market. Firstly, the company targets at supplying the products to some of the world leading companies that is always in need of cleaning services and products. To add on the above, it has been seen that a good number of well established companies have clean premises hence they need a stable supplier to supply them with cleaning materials. Another good source of market is learning institutions. It has been seen that students need cleaning on a daily basis. Starting from their personal hygiene to the school in general, learning institutions need to do a lot of cleaning services according to Cristina et.al (2005). Equipments used in carrying out experiments needs to be cleaned on a daily basis. Lab coats and other kinds of related materials also need cleaning for them to be used by students for the next lesson. Business firms and enterprises such as supermarkets also request to be supplied with cleaning materials not only for sale but for use as Well. The Company also gets tenders from
  • 6. government related bodies that are in need of supply materials on a regular basis during different times of the year. Competition Strategies The company uses the following strategies to overcome competition from outside. Supplying products that are not supplied by other cleaning companies is one of the reasons why it performs well. Agents and analysts take time to conduct research on the outside market and come up with a list of products that will not only attract customers but ensure that they increase the competitive advantage (Niemann, 2008). Proper figuring out is done before actually deciding on the products that the company will continue to supply. Letting the customers know what the company does best is a major competitive tool that has ever been employed at the place. Coming up with unique ways of letting customers know what the company is good at is one of the best ways of dealing with the overgrowing outside competition(Mazars et.al,2001). Experts have revealed that being unique is one of the ways a business can use to gain a competitive advantage over others. Taking active part in community related projects; helps boost an increase in the number of customers eventually adding competitive advantage. Projects such as raising funds to support certain development projects is one way the company ensures that it is gaining strengths and outdoing its rivals. Engaging and taking interest in community related works gives the people the feeling of caring hence they join hands by working and cooperating together with the company. Advertisement and Marketing Techniques To begin with, using effective headlines is one good way of ensuring that a product is well marketed to the outside community. It is very crucial that headlines used capture the attention of customers by having a nice and appealing title. Experts say that headlines form about 70percent of an advert made. The company uses headlines that lead to good responses from the customers expanding the market. Frequent cross promotions is another good strategy used by the company.
  • 7. Teaming up with other companies is a good way of expanding the audience capacity. Business promoting companies are found and offer and complement services on the behalf of Brilliant Minds Company. Cooperating and working with companies that produce majority of the products supplied is one way the business expands its market base as explained by Lesjean et.al(2000). Humor and content that is outrageous are some of the ways of gaining audience and a good brand name. By getting the help of TV and radio commercials, many adverts tend to capture the interest and leave impressions of corporate brands in many minds of the people. Internet marketing is another good way of helping to spread information. The company uses links and sending adverts to social media to capture the attention of potential customers. Damage Control The company comes up with ways of avoiding damage to materials. Training employees on ways of taking care of the company’s resources is one way of ensuring that they learn of how to conserve resources and handle tools with care. Employees are trained upon being accepted as part of the company’s staff hence they end up working with enthusiasm. Setting boundaries and limits is one of the ways that ensures that customers do not damage anything in case there is a complaint or inquirer to be made. Policies clearly indicate the punishment that will be given for committing some acts hence people work with care when they visit the place. Challenges Facing Brilliant Minds Company. The company faces the problems of poor transport and communication networks to facilitate the supply of goods and commodities. Majority of the roads used are damaged to the extent of making the transportation process to slow down. Furthermore, communication problems a good example being; network connection, often make it hard for traders to communicate and pass information on what is to be done. Adequate security is also a challenge as many of the company’s vehicles are stopped and hijacked by gang stars. Measures are
  • 8. coming up to deal with the challenge. Conclusion In conclusion, it has been seen that Brilliant Minds is a company that has specialized in supplying cleaning materials and tools to other places. By looking for the best strategies in many sectors of the company, measures have been laid to ensure that there is peace and harmony at the place and operations run smoothly. Problem 8-1A – found on pp. 359 - 360 of your textbook (Worth 30 Points). Unit 4 Assignment 2 – Case Study, Part 2 Case Study | Part 2 The second and final part of this project is due at the end of Unit 4. Part 2 of the Case Study Project is a PowerPoint presentation with voiceover. The Voiceover will be the narrative you would be presenting as if this were a live presentation. You will, in essence, be making a presentation to the Board of Directors of your organization. Your Unit 2 Part 1 of the Case Study will be the beginning point for your PowerPoint presentation. Begin with a brief introduction of the company. Then, using your Unit 2 Case Study assignment as the basis, build a PowerPoint Presentation that discusses all required components of textbook “Between the Numbers” problems BTN 1-8 and BTN 3-8. In addition to the information included in your previous Case Study Part 1, include 1 or 2 slides that will incorporate the requirements for the Between the Numbers Problem BTN 6-8 on page 291 of your textbook. But, instead of using a local college, respond to the requirements for BTN 6-8 using YOUR company. Keep in mind that the members of the board may or may not have read the report you completed in Parts 1 of the project. Even though this will be a brief presentation, it should include all essential information and data. This aspect of the
  • 10. presentation, but also the proper perspective they need to make informed decisions. Conclude your presentation with a Summary slide. The Power Point presentation should include 10 – 12 slides. The first slide must be a title slide, and the final slide must be your reference list. The presentation itself (voiceover) should be 8-10 minutes long. In addition to recording the Voiceover, the text of your Voiceover must be written into the “Notes” section of each slide. Proper grammar and spelling will be an important part of the assignment. Be sure to perform a Spell Check. Remember this very important presentation technique – Do not present slides that contain too much information. Keep the slides clean and uncluttered by using bullet points. The “Notes” section is there to allow you to provide the details about the presentation. The slides should also be designed to serve as the basis for the Voiceover Narrative. If you design you bullet points correctly, you will not need to read the information on the slide. Rather, the slides should simply be an outline or “platform” from which you launch your presentation.
