3. Take the “What Are Genres?” Quiz.
4. Read the Project 1 Handout and Grading Criteria.
Sunday, Week 2

1. With your classmates, collaboratively brainstorm a list
of as many genres as you can think of using the
ENGL 309 Online Genre Brainstorming Document
(Google Doc). You must add at least 5 genres to the
document.
2. Do Homework/Scaffolding Assignment 1: Stylistic
Analysis of a Genre.
3. Read Tom Connor, “Writing the Well-Spun Spoof.”
4. Watch Project 1, Slidedoc 2: How to Create a Genre
Parody.
5. Watch and read the example genre parodies and
respond to the discussion question “What makes
genre parodies funny?”
6. Submit your draft of Project 1 to the “Project 1 Draft
Workshop Blog.”
Wednesday,Week 3
(1/24) Complete the Project 1 Draft Workshop.

1. Revise Project 1 based on feedback.
2. Read the Deadline Policies and Self-Evaluation
Instructions.
