One project involved outsourcing the server migration from an established IT company to Hexad, with the client being a large enterprise. As part of the migration to the AWS platform, Hexad implemented several key steps and solutions to ensure a successful transition:
Subnet Setup: Hexad set up two private subnets, one for the Production environment and another for the Development and Testing environment. This segregation helps maintain separate environments for different stages of the software development lifecycle. Additionally, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) was configured to establish a secure connection between the client's on-premises data center and the AWS environment.
IAM User Setup: Hexad created IAM (Identity and Access Management) users with specific access policies tailored to the client's requirements. This allowed both teams to have the necessary access permissions to manage and operate the AWS infrastructure effectively. IAM helps enforce security and control access to AWS resources.
Custom Disk and Partition Size: Since the client had custom disk and partition sizes on their application and database servers, Hexad ensured that the EC2 instances deployed on AWS were configured with the appropriate disk sizes and partitions. This ensured compatibility with the client's existing infrastructure and maintained the required storage capacities.
Sizing and Configuration: Hexad performed server sizing to match the specifications of the old servers. This involved determining the appropriate resources (CPU, memory, storage) required for each EC2 instance to achieve performance parity with the client's existing environment. The UK based client is a prominent
manufacturer and supplier with over 30 years
of experience in producing rubber molded and
rubber-to-metal bonded products.
They specialize in providing a comprehensive
range of Anti Vibration Mounts and Isolation
Products. These products are utilized across
various industries, including automotive and
industrial applications.
6. The Challenges
The client was utilizing SAP HANA deployed on VMware in a
private data center (DC), but they were encountering several
challenges.
● Frequent server outages,
● Limited control over infrastructure and scalability,
● Network latency,
● Lack of server and component monitoring capabilities,
● Inefficient and time-consuming support processes
Support from their existing setup was not meeting their
expectations.
Further, the pricing structure for server sizing and component
changes was complicated. This complexity made it challenging
for the client to adjust their infrastructure according to their
evolving requirements and budget constraints.

The project involved the outsourcing of server migration from an IT company that

The client, seeking to minimize downtime and technical efforts, engaged the
services of team Hexad to execute the migration using the lift and shift method.
The primary objective was to seamlessly migrate all servers to a new environment.
This project included provisioning appropriate AWS resources, such as EC2
instances, storage volumes, and networking configurations, to ensure
seamless migration and optimal performance.
9. The Solutions…
Migration and Solution- AWS Platform
• Setup 2 private subnets for one Prod Environment and One for Dev – Test
Environment and configured VPN for DC to AWS secured connection.
• Created IAM users setup with specific access policies so both teams get
required component access of AWS Infra.
• As they was having a custom disk and Partition size on Application and
Database servers,
• Team Hexad Deployed EC2 Instances with the right disk size and setup partition
and done the sizing equivalent to old servers.
11. The Solutions…
Our AWS team shifted the data from the DC to AWS EC2 instances.
• SAP Team was set up SAP Application and Synced new HANA Database from the
DC.
• Dedicated firewall also deployed to secure entire infra.
• Team Hexad also set up a two-way connectivity solution, so clients can connect
SAP Application directly access from the Factory and office network and Remote
users can access the application using the secure VPN.
• Lambda function was implemented to start and stop the Dev, QA instances.
• And the Cloudwatch to monitor all instance custom metrics performance.

● Reduced latency.
● SAP Application response time is much faster.
● Overall improvement in Application and Server uptime.
● AWS Infrastructure control in hand so the customer had not relayed on anyone.
● Also, it’s helped to manage the AWS infrastructure better.
