All Rights Reserved Migration into AWS Data Transfer Methods  AWS Import/Export: Snowball  Snowball is a data transport solution that uses secure appliances to transfer large amounts of data into and out of AWS. Using Snowball addresses common challenges with large-scale data transfers including high network costs, long transfer times, and security concerns. 80TB appliance  VPN  Establish an IPsec, hardware VPN connection between your VPC and your remote network.  Direct Connect  Customer select a Direct Connect dedicated physical connection to accelerate network transfers between their datacenters and AWS. AWS Direct Connect lets you establish a dedicated network connection between your network and one of the AWS Direct Connect locations. Both the Operating System and Database are the same on Source & Target system SAP Homogenous System Copy The Operating System and or Database are the different on Source & Target system .Example Unix to Linux, Unix to Windows, Oracle to HANA Requires additional testing due to kernel differences, direct DB calls etc. SAP Heterogeneous System Copy CloudEndure uses continuous block-level data protection (CDP) ensures maximum uptime and minimal loss of data without consuming additional resources at the source application. All Rights Reserved Impacts to Existing Ecosystem (Infrastructure, Process, People)  What SLA do We need? – What uptime do we expect (availability), backup policy and data retention needs, when do we expect patches, when is the solution upgraded and can I control those decisions.  Regulations / Compliance – Government regulations that may apply such as FDA validation, special data protection rules such as PCI Compliance or security rules beyond the standard.  Predictability of the Solution – Focuses on how the solution functions, and how predictable it is. Do we need more computing power for month-end, will we have unpredictable bursting such as a promotional website or even a temporary environment that may have unpredictable growth.  When to move to the cloud? – Although a move to the Cloud is a step toward getting out of the IT business, adjustments to your infrastructure still need to be planned as part of the process. Areas here are around network security, ability to connect in the Cloud, and reviewing the integration points between systems.  Financial Decisions – Current leases, value of owned technology assets, datacenter layout today and labor costs to reduce the footprint, and possible changes around software licensing due to the migration.  People & Processes – Impact on your employees.
