This document contains brief notes from a lesson study on using the theme of floods in different subjects like mathematics, social studies, and language. For mathematics, lessons were developed around using rain gauges to measure and calculate average rainfall amounts over different time periods and making predictions. It was found that students struggled with the concept of a central measure but not the calculations. The notes also discuss investigating teacher characteristics that are productive for professional learning through lesson study.
