planets, how satellites work, astronauts, etc. I love that it has launch information
and countdown clocks!
Does it provide student feedback-No student feedback. The students can
engage in rich discussion after using the app. The students can also listen to
interviews from astronauts!
What kind of higher learning thinking skills does the app encourage-The
students are able to view over 12,000 images from space. It encourages the
students to compare and contrast the different images in space. The students
could construct a model using the orbiting satellite trackers.
Ease of use- Easy to use and is best for all grade levels. Compatible with
iphone, ipad, and ipod touch.
What kind of privacy does it offer- Olly safe browser with parental controls.
There is also no in-app advertising.

2. Grade level and content area- It is an app used for language arts and is for all
ages.
Specific uses in the classroom- Students can create their own e-book, from a
paper or book they have written, and can pick their own images, text, background
colors etc. Their very own story comes to life!
Does it provide student feedback-Yes! The students can read their own book!
This would be a great collaboration tool for group work. The students can use
their own voice too and parents can read their creations from their iphones!
What kind of higher learning thinking skills does the app encourage-This
app is all about CREATING! The older students will love to publish their very own
book and the younger students who are emerging readers can create a book
using fun and familiar words. These are the types of books you can create:

Ease of use- Easy to use and is best for all grade levels. Compatible with ipad.
This app has a simple tutorial that is easy to follow using pre-made books.

appropriately sequenced events, include some details regarding what happened,

You really could use any of the language arts standards to connect this app to
your lesson.
3. Does the app provide easy to follow and comprehensive instructions- Yes
the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The students can pick from a “fixed
layout” and then make it their own! Their is also a simple tutorial that is easy to
follow.

Name- Jungle Time-learn how to tell time for ipad
Grade level and content area- It is an app used for telling time and is
recommended for ages 6 and up. It can be customized for the student’s level.
Specific uses in the classroom- Students learn how to tell time on an analogue
clock and can practice using five different levels. There is also a section that
teaches about elapsed time, time zones, 24-hour time, and daylight savings time.
It also includes a special learning-clock style for students with learning difficulties.
Does it provide student feedback-Yes! The student will be proficient in telling
time using an analogue clock after they pass each level. You can track data in
the settings tab and also view the percentage of correct and incorrect.
What kind of higher learning thinking skills does the app encourage-This
app uses thinking and reasoning skills.
Ease of use- This app is easy to use and has a variety of options for tailoring the
game to fit every learner!
What kind of privacy does it offer- The student can only enter their first name
when playing which adds extra privacy and safety.

For 2nd grade- 2.MD.C.7 Measurement and Data
Work with time and money. Tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to
the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.
4. Does the app provide easy to follow and comprehensive instructions- Yes
the instructions are clear and easy to follow. It is highly interactive and teaches
the student to not only tell time, but also how to set clocks etc. The game guides
the students as they go and uses audio directions for those who need to hear
instruction.

Name- Spelling City
Grade level and content area- It is an app used to improve spelling, vocabulary,
and grammar. This app is recommended for ages 7 and up.
Specific uses in the classroom- Teachers can customize spelling lists to help
students who need different ways to learn how to spell. This app is great for
learning centers and individualized instruction. I love this particular app because
parents can use it at home too!
Does it provide student feedback-Yes! The student can practice their specific
spelling list for the week. It offers flexibility and the student knows which words
they misspell from each list. One downfall of this app is that you cannot save
your word lists unless you have a premium membership.
What kind of higher learning thinking skills does the app encourage-This
app uses thinking and reasoning skills. It also encourages self-direction.
Ease of use- This app is easy to use but the navigation tool could be hard for
students who are just beginning to read. It has a support section if a student
needs help but does not have an instructional video.

punctuation, and spelling when writing.
1. Spell untaught words phonetically, drawing on phonemic awareness and

Does the app provide easy to follow and comprehensive instructions- Yes
the instructions are clear and easy to follow if you are a fluent reader. If you are
an emerging reader, then the instructions might be a bit hard to follow. The
teacher would need to properly instruct the student on how to play the games
and take the spelling tests.

Name- Tally Tots
Grade level and content area- This is app is used to teach students their
numbers and to count to twenty. The grade level recommended is preschool-kindergarten.
Specific uses in the classroom- Interactive games that help students learn to
count to twenty. It makes learning engaging and fun!
Does it provide student feedback- YES! The students are rewarded with a fun,
interactive game or activity when they reach a counting goal.
What kind of higher learning thinking skills does the app encourage-This
app is really designed for interactive number recognition. At a young age this will
encourage higher-order math skills for the future. It also encourages
attentiveness and increases counting skills.
Ease of use-Tally Tots is simple to use. It is definitely easy enough for a toddler
to follow along. It requires the student to mimic the number for future recognition.
What kind of privacy does it offer-There is no violence, language, or other
inappropriate material shown. The window does display other apps from the
company where the user can click and purchase.
6. Are the skills reinforced connected to your curriculum standards/student
outcomes- YES!
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.A.1- Count to 100 by one’s and ten’s.
Does the app provide easy to follow and comprehensive instructions- The
app does have easy to follow instructions.The student counts along with the app
and can play games to count to certain numbers. As the game gets harder, it
might require the toddler to press on a specific number for a long period of time.
Sometimes longer than a normal toddler can remain attentive.
