This is a group project that provides the best 10 apps for students to use in and out of the classroom to support curriculum based standards and higher learning thinking skills. They are found to be intuitive and provide important feedback to students and educators alike. Each have been voted on by our group and have earned the highest scores on all levels to make our top 10 list. This is a helpful tool for future and current teachers. Each time a child logs on to an educational app you want their time to be spent to the fullest of their ability. It is important to know where to spend their time and your money.

Specific uses in the classroom:
It uses games with cute and silly monster
avatars that they can personalize to get the
kids practicing sounds, letter naming, blends,
and reading sentences.
It provides feedback when they get
something correct or incorrect. If they have
trouble with a specific part of the game,
those sounds appear more frequently later
on, so they get more chances to practice.
Teachers can track student progress.

Is it intuitive!
It is very intuitive. My kindergarteners love it and use it with ease, but the game doesn't
always explain exactly what needs to happen, so students may need teacher support at
times.

It has a diagnostic test to place the students in the correct grade,
embedded assessments, and automatic differentiation.
It gives teachers up to date information on the skills the student
has mastered and ones they are still working on.
As a teacher, you can customize their questions to supplement
class material. The game also uses adaptive learning and
differentiated instruction to adjust content.

The Math Games feature more than 1,500 mathematical skills, aligned with curriculum standards for grades 1 to 8.
The app provides easy to follow and comprehensive instructions!
I have had many students use it without difficulty, including my son who is special needs.

Comprehension, critical thinking skills, and reading strategies
Specific uses in the classroom:
Teachers are able to set up free accounts for their students to read and be read to at school and access at home as well. You can
assign specific books to students based on their needs. You can also assign a collection of books to students that they can use for
research.
Epic has reading logs that the teacher can access to see what the child is interested in and how much time they are spending on
each book.
Epic provides instant "feedback" through the comprehension quizzes.

learning by assigning books on their level.

for all students. It integrates the building block of
relationship skills/cooperation, creating teams,
class rewards, and interactive class lessons.
● Moby Max’s curriculum teaches students how to
be better problem solvers, critical thinkers, ad
creative minds. Moby Max has thousands of
cognitive skill manipulatives. This app has
students think and discover, rather than just being
told what to do.
● Privacy: Only the most basic personal information,
such as grade level and name, are entered. They
never share or sell personal informationl.

● Star Reading gives comprehensive reading assessments that will give the teacher
the information needed to ensure the students reach high levels of literacy.

This app is interactive and fun with its many bright characters and games. It is
intuitive and easy to use.
Privacy Considerations: The app follows privacy laws and does not automatically
collect information. Children must have parental consent or the teacher’s
information is used at provided the teacher gives consent. Third party marketers
are not allowed to market to children through the app. The company follows a
privacy policy that they only share information with their affiliates. Children cannot
download their information.
22. BrainPOP information

Specific use in the classroom; It is an animated movie app that helps kids understand their world. It encourages self
directed learning in a voice that provides humor and the kids can relate to.
Does it provide student feedback? How? Teachers can send feedback on open-ended work, such as Make a Movie
and Make a Map.
What kind of higher learning thinking skills does the app encourage? This app is designed to support the
development of a broad range of transferable skills such as, critical, creative, computational thinking.

What kind of privacy does it offer?It uses industry standard protocol to ensure that student data is encrypted and
transmitted securely from end to end and at rest.
Are the skills reinforced connected to your curriculum standard? Standard outcome? Yes, I believe
BrainPOP is a very fun app to make my students enjoy learning and doing their work instead of dragging it.
Does the app provide easy to follow and comprehensive instructions.? This app is very user friendly.
25. Khan Academy

Specific use for the classroom? It is used to identify strengths and learning opportunities in students' skill
sets. Then assign specific skills to a small group of students, and allow them to work individually and as a
group to strengthen their weaknesses
Does it provide student feedback? How? Yes it does the whole point of the app is to provide feedback for
kids so they can increase their scores.
26. Khan Academy
What kind of higher learning skills does this website encourage? Khan academy helps with every major
subject and helps with test preparation which includes tests like the ACT and SAT. THe app focuses on
subject skill mastery.
What kind of privacy does it offer? It doesn’t specifically say but they say they create a safe and secure
online environment
.Are the skills reinforced connected to your curriculum standard? Yes it is by review this is the best app
for kids through the ages k-12. This app has it all to help my students from helping with test prep to teaching
regular assignments.
