This WebQuest is designed to collaborate with the book “Diary of a
Worm”. The students will use their creativity and write a diary entry
using all the ideas and facts given to them. They will also enjoy fun
games and learn interesting tidbits about earthworms!




INTRODUCTION

Today in class we will be using our creative
minds to write a diary entry about the day in the
life of an average earthworm. Close you eyes
and imagine for a moment where this worm
might have a fantastic adventure!! Get ready to
embark on a journey where we learn about
interesting and sometimes slimy facts about
earthworms.

now. This will help you begin the creative
thinking process.

If you have read this book then go to the next
step.

Step 2: To accomplish this task, you will record
some adventures you and your worm buddy
encountered that day. You will create a whirlwind
adventure for our fellow worm. Remember to
include some fun facts you have just learned!!


This webquest was designed for 2nd and 3rd graders in mind. It is
designed to engage their creative minds and imaginations by
having them create diary entries about a fun and fact filled worm
adventure. This is to be used in collaboration with the book “Diary
of A Worm”, written by Doreen Cronin.
Please give each student diary or journal paper to record their
findings.
You may also want to set up a craft table for decorating their WORM
BUDDY.

- 1 package Oreo cookies, crushed
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 package chocolate instant pudding mix
- 1 small container Cool Whip topping, thawed
- 1 package gummy worms

DIARY OF A WORM


Put cookies into a zipper style bag and close tightly.
Using a rolling pin, roll and crush the cookies until crumbly. Set
aside.
In a large bowl, pour the milk and chocolate instant pudding mix.
Whisk well until all of the pudding mix is dissolved.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Add the Cool Whip and 1/2 of the crushed cookies.
Stir until well blended.
Place a large spoonful of crushed cookies into the bottoms of the
clear plastic cups.
Add the pudding mixture on top of that until the cups are 3/4 full.
Add 1 large gummy worm so that it is half in the cup and 1/2
hanging out of the cup.
Spoon in more crushed cookie around the worm to hold it in
place.

Can top with Cool Whip if desired.

It is designed to engage their creative minds and imaginations by having them create diary entries about a fun and fact filled worm adventure. This is to be used in collaboration with the book “Diary of A Worm”, written by Doreen Cronin. Please give each student diary or journal paper to record their findings. You may also want to set up a craft table for decorating their WORM BUDDY. OTHER ACTIVITIES TO USE IN COLLABORATION WITH THIS WEBQUEST: Dirt and Worms recipe... from RecipeTips.com - 1 package Oreo cookies, crushed - 2 cups cold milk - 1 package chocolate instant pudding mix - 1 small container Cool Whip topping, thawed - 1 package gummy worms STUDENTS PAGE DIARY OF A WORM  Put cookies into a zipper style bag and close tightly. Using a rolling pin, roll and crush the cookies until crumbly. Set aside. In a large bowl, pour the milk and chocolate instant pudding mix. Whisk well until all of the pudding mix is dissolved. Let stand 5 minutes. Add the Cool Whip and 1/2 of the crushed cookies. Stir until well blended. Place a large spoonful of crushed cookies into the bottoms of the clear plastic cups. Add the pudding mixture on top of that until the cups are 3/4 full. Add 1 large gummy worm so that it is half in the cup and 1/2 hanging out of the cup.
