2. Clash Magazine was my main inspiration as it is about the only magazine which tries to capture Indie music and culture by using various colours, typefaces and shapes. As you can see no one Clash magazine issue front cover is the same in terms of the attributes I have explained above. Yet they are easily identifiable due to the unique but soft font which isn't conventional in Indie music or dress. However I works well and is subtle on the background and acts a the magazine ‘ trend setter’ or theme. Also even though the magazine is some what consistent with it layout every issue challenges the Indie theme and its own conventions. You can see this from the fanned out issues above where the layouts are similar but no there background or typeface, this also applies to the triangular advert in the corner of the issue. So overall this was the main inspiration for my front cover design as I believe I captures and explores the panicle of my idea an what I want to produce.

4. This is my favourite issue of Clash as it represent the quirkiness of the band by drawing the colours from there clothing. Why at the same time remaining simple but effective with the white background and contrasting colours which is drawn for the logo and dress. As well as the contrast of the image in the right hand corner to the band bellow and is positioned as they perceive her as superior and also by there dress implies they link she is out of there league. Also the simple fronts and titles aren't lost in the background but because of there simplicity stand out.
5. This front cover issue I also like because it uses the colour red to maybe symbolise the nature of the killers and there music as being fiery , red hot or a warning of how good the music is. This theme is then used in the mast head the back ground for the plus sign and other bands featured in the magazine. However I also like how the band members are wearing different but fitting and put the leader in red as a symbolic link.
6. I like this issue because of its use of colour and bitmap design. This causes interest and implies a theme stead of dominantly the colours such as yellow in this case implying a surf or Hawaiian theme, this is also enforced by the bands dress and simple stance. However beside this this issue is very conventional so isn't so appealing to me for my final idea.

10. I was very difficult to obtain a example of an content page. However there is reasons why I like both content pages above these attributes cross over which are that the writing is clear and concise on a white back ground. However content number two can look a bit to cluttered and over powering. Also it is very boarding colour scheme and with only two pictures, which are bland however it does show another side of indie culture. On the other hand I like number one because it is simple but effective and adds colour and variation through the images and the text is short and not to complex.
