The Main Conflict Within the Administration of the Title IX
I consider myself quite the feminist. Likewise, if you believe that women should receive equal rights
to men, then you should consider yourself a feminist, too, and possibly look into the Title IX law,
because it is the epitome of feminist success. Since the passing of Title IX, the number of women
participating in intercollegiate sports from 1971 has more than quadrupled, going from about 30,000
to more than 150,000 (Garber). Yet, astonishingly, it is far from my favorite amendment to be passed
by the federal government. This is because this law has morphed from a well–intentioned piece of
legislation that helped to increase female athletic opportunities into an obtrusive quota system that
has begun to do more harm than good. Although Title IX has helped in the past to increase gender
equality within collegiate sports, in recent years, enforcing its policies has resulted in a decrease of
support for male athletes.
The problem is not with the general law of Title IX itself, which simply states that any education
program receiving federal funding cannot discriminate based on gender ("Gender Equity" 339): it is
the way that this law has been enforced. Although the entirety of the Title IX law pertains to a
number of aspects of educational institutions, a college's compliance requirements (that is, the rules
that must be met in order to be in conformity with the Title IX law) under the athletic portion of
Title IX boil down to three major "prongs": 1. The proportion of female

Title IX And Gender Equality
Title IX helped to progress girls educational opportunities in the field of extra curricular and female
athletics. John F. Kennedy was a breeding ground for the benefits to be reaped by the opportunities
put in place by the passage of the legislation of Title IX.
Title IX is part of the United States Education Amendments of 1972. It was meant to address some
the flaws in the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was written in order to end
discrimination in various fields based on sex, religion, race, color, or national origin, in the area of
employment. The drawback of this act was that it did not include any prohibition on gender
discrimination in public education and federally assisted programs.Title IX was created in an ...

This has led us to believe that men's sports deserve more attention and funds. Title IX fixed the
funding issue but made it almost impossible to comply to. The problem with the law was its
proportionality factor. There had to be an equal number of sports and similar spending on activities
for boys and girls. A few sports that are quite expensive are available to both genders but are
dominated by men; such as football and wrestling. The cost of these programs was far greater than
the cost of many of the other sports and many argued that because the same amount of money wasn't
being spent on females sports, it violated Title IX. The rules for this scenario became lenient
because it was impossible to fix the amount of spending that is necessary for certain sports to
operate. This issue makes it almost impossible to be proportional so only 20% of all high schools
and universities are technically in compliance with Title IX requirements (New Developments

Title: Affects of Title IX Sports law and its impact on gender equality
Research Question: How did the implementation of the TitleIX law impact today's culture and sports
in relation to gender?
Word Count: 2749
Abstract Research Question: How did the implementation of the TitleIX law impact today's culture
and sports in relation to gender? This essays digs deeper into whether or not the titleIX law has
impacted sports and culture. It provides clear examples of how the placement of the law benefitted
women and showed the progression from then to present. Especially in the participation and
opportunities presented in sports in today's culture. It also reflected perspectives of males and sports
authorities. The data tables included in this paper were self–constructed. The data was collected
from personal research of different areas in the athletic field of interest, specifically in basketball.
Interdisciplinary approaches included were history, economics, and psychology. The history
involved included the background and the initial reason for the creation of this law. This essay
provides examples of women and their experience indirectly and directly tied to the law. It compares
using some statistical data the economics of money spent of male compared to females. It also
brings in the media's appeal for male athletics because of the revenue they bring in. This essay also
includes examples

Title Ix : The Idea Of Equity
Title IX in College Athletics The idea of equity in society particularly in athletics has been a major
topic in athletics for many years. However, in spite of the long and storied history of the fight for
equity in athletics we still see a lot of misunderstanding especially involving one particular law. This
law is Title IX which has a number of awful misconceptions associated with it even from female
athletes themselves. One misconception that is very popular especially among the critics of Title IX
is the idea that "Title IX exists to force to schools to drop men's sport's"(Kane, pg. 3). This is
something that was reinforced by an report authored by Dr. Mary Jo Kane who is a Professor at the
University of Minnesota regarding the 40th anniversary of Title IX. Dr. Kane indicated that she
opens her sport sociology class discussions on Title IX by asking her class what they know about
this subject. Dr. Kane indicated in her report that Title IX "remains a mystery to the vast majority of
her students, both male and female" (Kane, pg. 3). Dr. Kane goes on to point out the misconception
mentioned above is commonly said by her students including her female D1 scholarship athletes
who are the ones that have benefitted most from this law. Overall Title IX is a great law even if it is
a law that takes a lot of bad press although this is largely due to the actions or in some cases lack
thereof from the leaders who reside in college athletics. Title IX was passed in 1972 by then

The teleological theory therefore holds that the rightness of an action is determined solely by its
consequences. The most common example of the teleological theory is Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism
(John Stuart Mills) – the end justifies the means (Boatright, 2009)
Boatright explains that an action is right if, and only if it produces the greatest balance of pleasure
over pain for everyone. One Utilitarian thesis, the Maximalist, states that a right action is one that
has not merely some good consequences but the greatest amount of good consequences. Simply put,
the end justifies the means. Based on these definitions, we are convinced that Acme Title Pawn
operated in a highly utilitarian manner.
What justifies this decision?
Acme helped a great number of persons in dire financial need
These persons were desperate and had no alternative means of obtaining a loan
These persons had no or poor credit history
They had emergencies and could not afford to wait on the bureaucratic red tapes of the traditional
banking institutions
Loan quantities were too low to be issued by the traditional banking institutions even if the applicant
had a good credit history
Cash was readily available
No title or individual background checks were conducted

Title IX: A Change In History For Women
Nigel Liaw Mr. Gobrail English 3–5A 27 March 2006 A Change in History for Women Women
presently play a huge part in daily activities whether it is at school, sports, or work. Over the past
three decades, women have gained many rights and privileges that men have had for half a century
or longer. Gaining these rights and privileges has allowed women to play important roles in today's
society. One of the most debated issues between men and women is Title IX. This issue has created
controversial problems that have caused a separation between men and women. Although, Title IX is
constantly brought up, it was the beginning of a new era for women. An era that would allow
women to be accepted as equals to men in everyday activities. ... Show more content on

Through the statistic, it is easy to see how much of an effect Title IX's history has for women. The
creation of Title IX in 1972 banned gender discrimination in schools nationwide, particularly in
sports (Huffman 4). Without it, superstar female athletes such as Lisa Leslie, Mia Hamm, or the
Williams sisters would not be internationally famous. They also would not have the media exposure
they get in sports without Title IX. In addition to the few that were just named, media is focusing
more and more on female athletes such as Michelle Wie and this year's winter Olympic silver
medalist in figure skating, Sasha Cowen. In conjunction with the popularity of female athletes, Title
IX has pushed for equality over the past three decades. In Suzanna Huffman's article from "Mass
Communication and Society," it states that "Title IX has encouraged school administrators to work
toward gender equity in athletic spending, and now many more women participate in college sports
and earn college athletic scholarships than in years past" (4). Although this statement is generalized,
it is close to the truth in today's culture among men and women. The impact that Title IX has
bestowed on women has created a positive outcome. It is astonishing to see what one document in
1972 can do to increase equality for women, yet create so many controversies with it. As it is seen
time and time again, issues and problems about Title IX are discussed in a degrading manner. In the

Title IX Legislation In 1972
This study will investigate the question: Did the passage of the Title IX Legislation in 1972 lead to
more women going to college? The main focus of my investigation will begin during the year of
1972, to analyze if the Title IX did lead more women going to college. The first source I have
selected for my detailed analysis is "The Impact of the Title IX." Barbara Winslow produced this
source during the year of 2009, to explain the major impact that the Title IX had on women. This
source is relevant to my specific investigation, because it focuses on keypoint information on the
Title IX and primarily focuses on the effect it had. This source explains how the Title IX impacted
women back then, which has relevance to my question because this ... Show more content on

If it wasn't for the passing of the Title IX Legislation, many women wouldn't have the same
opportunities as they have today. Males would usually play in sports, such as football, soccer,
baseball etc. Now the participation of females have increased, and women are now given the
opportunity to play sports in college. Times have definitely changed now because of the Title IX. If
it wasn't passed in 1972, there would be chaos. Mainly because the love for sports does not only
imply toward men, but women too! Both of these quotes demonstrate the amount of women
participating in sports and are entering college is highly increasing. Not only did the Title IX
increase the opportunities that women had, but it also made women regain their confidence. The
evidence that I used within my investigation is valuable because it highlights key point information
and provides the reader with insight on the amount of women playing sports today. However, this
evidence does have its limitations. The quote does provide the percentage of women that are athletes
in college, but it also does not acknowledge the percentage of males, which of course is still
dramatically higher than the women's percentage. However, the quote should acknowledge the
amount of men who play sports in college as well. Reason being is practically because men should
be acknowledged just as much as

Title Ix Of The Education Amendments
On June 23, 1972 Title IX of the Education Amendments was signed and put into action. Many
people think of this title as the right of women to be able to participate in sport. Title IX was enacted
to give women the rights to go to college and receive financial aid, along with also being able to
participate in sports. After the title was enacted women would be able to have the same rights as
men when it came to education, financial aid, and sports. Title IX has been enacted for forty years
and many women have been able to advance in sport and business because of the liberties that Title
IX gave to them. Even with all the good outcomes there may have been some negative outcomes as
well. Has Title IX accomplished everything that it was meant to? Or is it something that had an
effect and made some changes but is still a work in progress? When there is any type of
discrimination it will always take time for an act, opposing it, to have an effect and start to make a
change. When Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation to set all of the slaves free
there weren't many people who where very happy about it; and it did not make all of the
discrimination against African American's go away. It took time and effort on both parts and there
are still areas in our nation where we can still see discrimination, against African Americans, today.
The same goes for the Title IX act. It took a while for women to break through and for it to have a
lasting effect for women. But Title

Taking a Look at Title IX
Imagine being a female athlete before 1972, you practice playing basketball everyday just like the
boys do, but they have multiple scholarship opportunities to go to college where as females do not.
They tell you to be a cheerleader or work in the kitchen and stay at home, but in your heart you are a
competitor and have a passion for sports. This is a feeling that many females felt before Title IX;
was explicated to give female's gender equality in sports. Title IX has positively affected women's
sports over the years, but can negatively impact men's teams, especially within the collegiate field.
Title IX has changed budgeting and participation numbers between males and females, while
opening up several opportunities for women. I am going to inform you how Title IX affects females
and males in collegiate and high school sports, the history about Title IX, facts and statistics, how it
has positively changed the way women participate in sports, and what it has to do with race and
minorities. Some people think Title IX only applies to sports, which is not true. Athletics is only one
of ten key areas addressed by the law. These ten other areas include access to higher education,
career education, education for pregnant and parenting students, employment, learning environment,
math and science, sexual harassment, standardized testing, and technology. (Chadband) Five
different bills were introduced in the House, Senate, and White House in 1971. All these bills were

Essay on The Effectiveness of Native Title
The Effectiveness of Native Title
The debate about native title issues has tended to see issues from idealistic perspectives ignoring the
practical realities that native title poses to governments, industry and indigenous people. The
implementation of the Native Title is an appropriate and significant aspect of Australia's common
and statute law, which effectively strives to develop a fair outcome for all Australian citizens. The
Native Title Act 1993, like the court Mabo decision in 1992, transforms the ways in, which
indigenous ownership of land may be formally recognised and incorporated within Australian legal
and property regimes. The process of implementation, however, raises a number of ... Show more

The aboriginals were not recognised as land owners until the High Court decision of the Mabo case
in 1992, which was closely followed by the adoption of the Native Title Act 1993. The decision of
the Mabo case effectively benefits the many aboriginals whose ancestors where unfortunate having
had their land and homes invaded by Europeans in 1788.
There are many stakeholders involved in the dispute revolving around native title however, both the
statue and common law is effective in producing the fairest possible outcomes for all parties
involved. The process of claiming land in more complex then simply applying for the claim, for

the land. The Government believes it has provided a fair and balanced framework for the future by
adopting the Native Title Act in 1993.
The interpretation of native title is often misunderstood, which results in the establishment many
negative opinions regarding native claims. The claim of native title does not mean indigenous
people own the land they claim, it simply gives them the right to a say in the production,
development and use of the land. In some cases aboriginals receive small amounts

Taking a Look at Title IX
Title IX was a law signed in to make sure than no one is excluded based on gender. When the law
was signed in, the numbers showed that it helped get women more involved in sports. However,
with more women involved in sports, men are still the favored gender and women are discriminated
against. Women are discriminated against in sports shown by fewer opportunities in high school and
college level sports, unequal treatment of women college athletes, and unfair opportunities and
treatment to women coaches. Title IX was signed in 1972 and states that "No person in the United
States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be
subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial
assistance" (Anderson). With the law being signed in, a 560% increase of participation at the college
level and 990% increase at the high school level ("Title IX Myths and Facts"). This shows that
women are interested in getting involved and playing and participating in sports but the lack of
opportunity kept females from getting involved at both levels. Given the opportunity to tryout for a
team or even play recreationally, women jump at the chance. For a school to meet the requirement
for equal opportunity under Title IX it must have "Proportionality. The college must provide athletic
opportunities for female students that are 'substantially proportionate' to their enrollment. Program

Title Ix And The Law
Gender has always been a starting point for much of the judgement in our society whether we
realize it or not, and it's exactly the causes of one of the many controversies that there is today. Title
IX, the law passed to help overcome prejudice and grant girls the same opportunities as boys, is
getting not only the credit it deserves but much backlash to counter it. The main purpose of this law
was originally to give girls the opportunity to play the same sports as boys were able to, and thanks
to the law girls are now given these opportunities to play sports in addition to also give many
transgender students more rights within the schools than ever before. Even with all these steps
forward in society, there are still those who believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most don't explicitly look into the complexity of a transgender person's life and all the questions or
problems one might face: Do I use the men's or the women's bathroom? Is it appropriate to use this
locker room? Those are only two of the many questions a transgender person might run into on a
daily basis because of how others would see the situation, how the people who may have a sneaking
suspicion that the woman they saw go into the ladies' bathroom isn't actually female by their
definition, or how it could also seem strange to see that same person go into the mens' bathroom.
These all lead to dysphoria in any person's situation in public places due to the fact that many
choose to taunt or mock the person; however, with the help of Title IX these questions could start to
vanish from the thoughts of many transgender students which Blad exemplifies with a quote in her
article:
"Title IX protects all students at recipient institutions from sex discrimination, including sexual
violence. Any student can experience sexual violence: from elementary to professional school
students; male and female students; straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students; part–
time and full–time students; students with and without disabilities; and students of different races
and national origins," it says. The guidance goes on to say that schools are obligated to "respond

Essay on The Success of Title IX
Sports is a powerful force in society today. People of all ages and both sexes watch and participate
in different sports in increasing numbers. Equal opportunity to participate in sports seems like a
right that is natural and would be a common sense issue, but unfortunately this has not always been
the case. In 1972 Congress enacted the Education Amendments of 1972, this contains Title IX which
was intended to ensure that discrimination based on sex was eliminated. The area that this has had
the most contentious impact is sports. Has Title IX increased women's opportunities to participate in
sports during college equitably and fairly? Title IX has increased opportunities for women to
participate in college sports programs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three tests were devised to measure if schools are in compliance with Title IX. They are:
1. Ensuring that opportunities for men and women are substantially proportionate to enrollment by
gender.
2. Offering sports that fully and effectively satisfies the interests and abilities of female students.
3. Showing a history and continuing practice of expanding the sports programs for women.
Schools need not meet all three, but must meet only one according to the Education Department.
These three tests are what all complaints and lawsuits are judged by. They are the backbone of Title
IX.
With the law and the means to measure and enforce it in place all we had to do was look for results.
The 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta give an indication of the impact Title IX has had on
women's sports. Women athletes took home 19 of the 44 gold medals the United States won. The
women who have accomplished this are "the first generation of women who, from the time they
were little kids, were encouraged to participate in sport." (St. George). This certainty signifies that
Title IX has had a positive impact on women's sports.
Another measure of the success of Title IX is the number of sports programs in the country. Has
women's sports programs narrowed the gap with men's programs? The answer is a resounding yes!
From 1978 to 1996 colleges and university's around the country added 1,658 women's sports
programs while at the same time men's sports

Auto Title Loans Essay
Auto title loans represent a fast cash option for the debtor. These short term loans are based on the
value of your car. To get one you need to own your auto outright, free from any liens. You give the
lender your title to secure the loan and you continue to drive your car. Usually the loan amounts are
in the $250 to $1500 range, but depending on the value of your car the amount may be as high as
$10,000. Loan Terms Loan repayment can be worked out in a number of ways. Here are two of the
most common: First, the loan is made for 30 days. You need to repay the amount you borrow plus
the interest in 30 days. If you are unable to pay the full amount, you usually can roll over the loan by
paying only the interest. Then you have a new note to pay in another 30 days. Usually they will roll
it over again and again. Auto title loan companies want to make as much money as possible from
you. Eventually you need to repay the loan. In the mean time they will gladly take your interest
payments. The other variation is to take out a loan for several months with interest paid monthly.
Then a balloon payment for the amount borrowed is due at the end of the loan term. An example: An
auto title loan is made for $2500. The borrower must make payments of $400 a month (200% per
year) and then pay the $2500 in a balloon payment in 7 or 8 months. Can They Be Useful? Auto title

Persuasive Writing Activity Assignment In 1972 congress passed a law called title 9. Title IX of the
Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states: "No person in the United States
shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be
subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial
assistance." I agree that girls and women should be protected from discrimination in schools,
colleges and universities. Including school sponsored sports. I personally believe that women should
be treated with a little more respect and given more equality in regards to the athletic program. Title
9 forced schools to make sports more equal. Although Lots of girls play sports they were not
encourage before. In the early days of title 9 the number of girls playing sports was so low it would
have been difficult for schools to suddenly provide exactly the same opportunities for boys and girls.
Instead the government wrote rules that gave schools three options or tests to demonstrate fairness
in opportunities for girls the three tests are "Proportionality, Progress, and Satisfied interest." A
school can pick which test to follow. The government developed rules to measure equality under
two general categories, participation and treatment. Proportionality means that girls should receive
the same athletic opportunities as the percentage of girls in the student body. For example If 51% of

that in cases of conflict between pastoral leases and native title, pastoral leases override and can

introduction of the Native Title amendment Act (1998). If there is no conflict, they can coexist.
Many cases of Native Title extinguishment has occurred, and only approximately 600 areas hold
Native Title in all of Australia, with less than 1% in NSW. As a procession from the Native Title
declaration, this legislature has digressed justice to the ATSI community , and as further iterated by
Sydney Morning Herald has "undone the good of the Mabo decision". ATSI discrimination
following the legislation of the Native title Act (1996) significantly rose in the public discourse with
renowneded personalities claiming they could "take their backyards", and an unspoken deeply–
rooted fear for many, dating back to Australia's colonization; that Australia could be declared
completely under Native Title, and the sovereignty of the Crown could be questioned . For ATSI
peoples', the introduction of the 10 point plan, and the Native Title Ammendment Act (1998) marks
a significant national regression upon achieving justice for their community as they sought to pour
""bucket–loads of extinguishment" on the native title rights of Indigenous Australians. Law reform,
in this case has been dominantly ineffective in achieving justice for the ATSI peoples, and rather

Analysis Of William Shakespeare 's Romeo And Juliet
Introduction "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as
sweet." This quote from Shakespeare is from the balcony scene when Juliet tells Romeo that his
name is meaningless and that he is still a handsome young man and that only their family names are
enemies. This same quote can be applied in today's society in how people address each other based
on different situations, especially when addressing women. There are many different titles that can
be used to address women as opposed to men, but despite the title used, the woman herself does not
change. Only the meaning and stereotype associated with the title used changes.
Throughout the years, the titles used to address women have slowly shifted meaning from that of a
social status to that of a marital status. Erickson (2014) explains that the titles "Miss" and "Mrs." are
the oldest coined terms used to address women, and both of them derive from the title "Mistress."
Both titles were generally only used for those of higher power and status. "Miss" described young
girls while "Mrs.", described women who had governed subjects, was skilled, or who taught. Upon
reaching adulthood, a "Miss" became a "Mrs.", and according to the Oxford English Dictionary, it
was common for older, unmarried women to still use the title "Mrs." so they could increase their
standing to be on par with married women. This was why sometimes this referred to as a "title of
politeness" or "courtesy title." But by the

Title IX Title IX was passed by the U.S. Congress on June 23, 1972, and signed by President
Richard M. Nixon on July 1, 1972. It is a civil rights law prohibiting discrimination in education
programs and activities receiving federal funds. It was the first comprehensive federal law to
prohibit sex discrimination against students and employees in these institutions. (U.S. Department of
Education, 1997) Title IX did much more than what the average mind thinks of when they hear the
words: Title IX. I personally was interested in what people thought of when they heard this and did
two simple interviews, one of my grandpa's, a 73 year old man, and also interviewed my friend,

There is a connection between the Title IX law and improvements in key areas such as access to
higher education, career education, employment, learning environment, math and science, sexual
harassment, standardized testing, and treatment of pregnant and parenting teens. (Women's Equity
Resource Center, 2003) How in the world does that relate to me you ask? Well, before this law many
schools and universities had separate entrances for male and female students. Honestly, did it really
matter what door you came in? Apparently, it did. I can see them having a problem with males and
females being in the same dormitories, for obvious reasons, but not letting a man and woman walk
in the same door to get to a classroom? That's a little ridiculous if you ask me. I know I could have
never lived happily in the past generations, because I have had the freedom of being my own self
and having the freedoms of every other race, gender, and social status for the most part. The effect
Title IX has played in my life comes in some major issues, as well as simple things such as being
allowed to walk through the same door as the man in front of me. What else did Title IX impact you
ask? Being a college student, a woman college student, I really appreciate the times now. According

Land Title System In Canada
The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is
located in St Pierre–Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which
province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land
ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of
Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the
territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the entire
jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the steps to
be taken in real estate sales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles system is
used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the registry
system, a transfer of ownership must be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the transfer
must be filed. Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from interests
that the land titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be taken.
There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property in
question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used for,
the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the land

Black Hat Or Devil 's Advocate Process
Black Hat or Devil 's Advocate Process
The best solution to the dissatisfaction that is caused when a title is held and not sent to the payoff
dealer in a timely manner is to create a dealer notification process. This process will consist of
contacting the dealer by phone, email or fax to notify them of the accounts that have a title on hold
for missing odometer statement. The solution should be implemented because it is quick to
implement, will have a low cost to implement and will have a big impact on the issue. If the dealers
are notified as soon as the title is placed on hold they can fax or email the odometer to the Title
Services and Support department immediately. The Title Services and Support department will be
able to deliver the title to the dealer a timely manner.
If this solution is implemented one impact that could go wrong is that the dealers could become
frustrated with BMW Financial Services if the Title Services and Support department does not
notify them of an account that is on hold or the dealer could become frustrated if the Title Services
and Support department contacts them to many times about an account that is on hold. A weakness
and risk of the solution are keeping the BMW dealer group contact information up to date. The Title
Services and Support department will need to be in constant communication with the BMW Group
dealers to ensure they are calling, emailing or faxing the request for odometer statements to the
correct contact.

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Renting Vs. Owning A Home
Personal Finance Unit Five
a. Describe in detail the advantages and disadvantages of renting versus owning a home.
The advantage of renting a dwelling is the lack of time commitment required. If a lease is required,
it may be for a one–year term. If the situation is not agreeable to the tenant, or the tenant needs to
relocate out of the area, or prefers a different location, the option to move is available without a
penalty. Some rental units may be available on a monthly basis. While many rental agreements
require a security deposit, that deposit would be significantly less than a down payment and loan
closing costs required for the purchase of a residence. While the rental amount may cover the
owner's cost of insurance, maintenance, and taxes, they are not the direct responsibility the tenant.
Maintenance and repairs are also the responsibility of the property owner not the tenant. A tenant
has much less responsibility than the property owner.
The disadvantages of renting can be the restrictions set forth by the landlord or property owner.
These may include prohibiting modifications of the unit such as ... Show more content on

monthly mortgage payment is the requirement for taxes and insurance to be paid. These can add up
to thousands of dollars annually. Maintenance and repairs also fall to the property owner. The cost of
the repair and finding someone qualified and reputable to do the repair can be quite stressful. Should
an owner want to move, the time frame to liquidate the asset may take much longer than one is

from the joint judgement in Mabo (No1).
The decision saw an exponential increase in cultural and economic resurgence fundamentally oiled
by the judgement. This case also established two basic principles for determining the existence of
common law native title. Thus the 'recognition' of aboriginal people's law and customs in relation to
the determination , and its twin concept of ' extinguishment' of common law native title. In response

The Native Title Act 1993 was legislated following the decision in Mabo (No2). The Act itself
extinguished the colonial doctrine of Terra Nullius and instead established native title rights. Terra
Nullius as the name suggests is a Roman law concept, which literally means 'Land belonging to no
one'. Brennan J in Mabo decision rejected the doctrine and its early derivative concepts of native
title and essentially replaced it with aboriginal customs, traditions and laws which are recognised
legally under Australian common law. The 1993Act provides a process through which the
indigenous people can lodge an application to seek a determination of native title to their land. There
were significant amendments to the Act, including the introduction of a registration test and
indigenous Land Use Agreement. This mechanism allows the aboriginal people who assert that their
traditional rights have not been extinguished, and also to validate retrospectively the land titles of
the occupiers that may have been called into question by decisions. The judgement in Mabo (No2)
depicted that until the decision, the Australian law was actually based upon the precept that with the
acquisition of sovereignty ownership of all lands would become the Crown's automatically. So this
practically left no room for the common law to recognise any pre–existing aboriginal law in the
form of native title. The Mabo case undoubtedly changed this notion by identifying that radical title,
rather than absolute beneficial ownership was a concomitant of

What if you were told that a law was made to remove discrimination of sexes in sports and
education, or that man and woman are both given equal opportunities as far as an athletic or

treated different even though this law was created and the opportunities that were promised aren't
precisely indistinguishable? Title IX does not accurately protect sexual discrimination; it doesn't

had to add more women sports which cost more money to the school, or choose to cancel some of
the schools male sports. Subsequently, the schools had to do what was best for the school and to
avoid going into debt for sports the male sports had to be put on the burner. Many schools cut male
wrestling, track and field, tennis, and gymnastics teams instead of adding women sports. Jason
Lewis a gymnasts whose team was eliminated said that the number of men's teams are dwindling
because colleges are dropping what are called the minor men's sports, the ones that don't draw

If say you have a division 3 school, with 5500 students, 3000 men and 2500 women. The idea that
the school is going to be able to have at least 75% of those students show or give interest towards a
certain sport or a certain inter mural game, is very hard to actually accomplish. The idea that also,
the underrepresented gender must have the ability to play the game is also very difficult to judge. I
guess if a team can not win a game all season but has double the amount of interest than spots
available on the team, maybe that would or would not require equal funding. I think this prong test
of compliance needs to be re–evaluated. Another issue that I think needs to be taken into effect is
football. There is no sport or club, male or female, that can equal the same amount of funding
needed for a football team and even created by a football team. Some smaller division 2 and 3
schools will even have a JV and Freshman football team along with their traveling varsity program.
The amount of money that division 1 football programs bring in for the school is amazing. Just the
amount of men that it takes to fill up a football roster will keep prong 2 alive. As long as there is a
big football program, women will need to have continual expansion of sports, or the teams already
in place, which will in turn, have the loss of smaller, not as popular, men's sports being dropped.

Auto Title Lo An Auto Loan
An auto title loan is a type of secured loan where borrowers use their auto title as collateral. People
who get auto title loans must allow their lenders to place a lien on their vehicle title, and submit the
original copy of their car title temporarily, in exchange for a loan amount.
How to Get an Auto Title Loan
Unexpected emergencies are one of the most difficult things to budget for. If you own a car and find
yourself in unexpected situation that requires some extra money, you can always apply for an auto
title loan.
Here is how you can apply for a car title loan:
In order for you to qualify for an auto title loan, you must own the car being used as security and the
car must be paid off or nearly paid off. You will also be required to show proof of ownership as well
as your repayments on the vehicle before you qualify. The maximum amount of money that can be
given to you is based on the resale value of your vehicle, so if you have a newer vehicle in good
condition, you can qualify for a larger amount of money.
The next step is to look for a lender that you have confidence in and are comfortable to work with.
The lender you choose may consider your employment status and source of income when
determining approval. It's always important to have a secure source of income as this will assure the
lender that you will have no problems repaying the loaned amount. Most of the lenders usually offer
you 25 to 50 percent of the car's current market value.

Students Seek Change for Title XI Title XI at Glance Every time an American citizen turns on the
news, there is a headline involving a sexual harassment case or unfortunately, cases of rape. Most
news stories are focused on a questionable school policy that fails to have reasonable judgment and
punishment for students involved. Recent cases in the news, like the Brock Turner case has turned
viral due to the publicity and exposure it had among young people. This particular case was
something that was so real to students in both high school and college, that millennial's began to
alter their perception of how insensitively harassment cases are handled. The Title XI policy that is
being enforced in school systems now, is a policy that has been up for debate by those who enforce
the policy and those the policy effects for years now. The policy belongs to the education
amendments of 1972. One might say that the policy is outdated. Although the policy has seen some
updates to its history, the language of the act is irrelevant in context to current situations the school
systems are facing now. The question remains, how does one change the policy and what policies
need to be made. The policy itself states that, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of
sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination

Physical Dimensions And Land Title Act
Physical dimensions of property
Property comes with stings attached; a fee simple owner can enjoy a bundle of rights but there are a
number of reservations to the Crown as well as restrictions on the physical dimensions and use of
property. By utilizing a fundamental principle of Ad coelum doctrine and a three–dimensional
concept; surface, airspace and subsurface of property, rights of landownership and use of property
will be examined. Then I will present three cases that modified the principle or physical dimensions.
The basic principle
Historically the common law maxim: "cujus est solum ejus est usque ad coelum et ad inferos"– He
who owns the soils, owns up to the heavens and down to the depth of the earth, was said to apply to
physical dimensions of property. Ad coelum doctrine, however, is largely outdated and inaccurate in
BC because the use and the extent of land in three dimensions are regulated. Before discussing
rights and restrictions, I will explain physical boundaries.
Boundaries and Land Title Act
In old days, description of boundaries of land used physical objects. Toady in BC with a few
exceptions, meets and bounds, measurement of distances, angles, and directions measured by
surveyors, are included in Land Title System. In the past when a party wrongly assumes the
boundary, without any contracuaral agreement the law of adverse possession could alter the title.
Although the law has been abolished in BC by sections 24 and 171 of the Land Title Act (LTA)),

Bransford Schema
Abstract
In this experiment we replicated a study done by Bransford and Johnson (1972). They conducted
research on memory using schemas. All human beings possess categorical rules or scripts that they
use to interpret the world. New information is processed according to how it fits into these rules,
called schemas. Bransford and Johnson did research on memory for text passages that had been well
comprehended or poorly comprehended. Their major finding was that memory was superior for
passages that were made easy to comprehend. For our experiment we used two different groups of
students. We gave them different titles and read them a passage with the intentions of finding out

The experiment was conducted as follows; first the experimenters greeted the participants and
handed out consent forms to each individual along with a blank piece of paper. After all the consent
forms were signed, one experimenter collected them. Then the experimenter wrote on the board
either the specific title (doing laundry), or the non–specific title (a simple procedure). The titles
remained on the board for five seconds, and then were erased. At that point they were then asked to

The procedure is actually quite simple. First you arrange things into different groups. Of course, one
pile may be sufficient depending on how much there is to do. If you have to go somewhere else due
to lack of facilities that is the next step; otherwise you are pretty well set. It is important not to
overdo things. That is, it is better to do too few things at once than too many. In the short run this
may not seem important but complications can easily arise. A mistake can be expensive as well. At
first the whole procedure will seem complicated. Soon, however, it will become just another fact of
life. It is difficult to foresee any end to the necessity for this task in the immediate future, but then
one can never tell. After the procedure is completed one arranges the materials into different groups

Title XI was created to open doors for women, but not at the expense of closing doors for men. This
law rules that a college's percentage of each gender athletic must coincide with the number of
gender enrollment within the school. According to a U.S News article Title XI Dark Legacy,
"Colleges pursuing "proportionality" can try to increase the number of female athletes so that
women account for 57 percent of athletes, or–the more surefire and less costly path–eliminate male
athletes from the roster" (Lukas 1). Why should men get cut just to make sure that there are enough
women within athletics? There isn't any equality in the situation if one or the other sacrifice for the
other. College athletics need to try gain more money and more female athletes so they can afford
them and males won't have to get cut. Not only are male players getting cut from rosters, but some
male sports are getting cut all together just to accommodate for female sports. In 2007, the College

the number of female athletes per college increased by 34%, as well at the number of women's

Start by picking a brand focus, which you may better know as a brand principle. When people refer
to a brand principle in business, they are referring to the rule a company lives by, or an aspect of the
company or its products. It is a company's way of saying, "We stand for this," and your brand focus
should be a similar thing. It is similar (but not the same) because you need to show people what you
stand for, but you also need to highlight something specifically terrific about yourself.
Tip – Think of yourself as selling a service instead of selling a product. The service is your time and
expertise.
Creating a brand–friendly title
Your title needs to in some way reflect your brand focus. It doesn't have to state it overtly, and it
may look at little tacky if you do, but it should give readers a hint around what to expect. The
biggest mistake that people make is to state their current job in their title/headline.
For example, your brand may be that you are an exemplary biomedical scientist who deals with
fecal matter. However, you may currently be working as a meter maid since having your baby. Some
users would make the mistake of writing that they were a meter maid in the title/headline. Even
though it is true, it is not a brand–friendly title, since a brand–friendly title/headline would either
state that the profile

the top female players in the world to matches and "bolted to national prominence with his blunt
putdowns of women's tennis and the role of today's female," reported Mr. Amdur. Whereas Billie
King, on the other hand, won 6 Wimbledon single championships and 4 U.S. Open titles. Billie King
ended up defeating Bobby Riggs in "The Battle of the Sexes" tennis match. This led Billie King's
victory to be the most energized sporting event in women's history. As stated in a New York Times
article, "Though this match was more of a spectacle than a sporting event, it had enormous symbolic
importance. Played just a year after the passage of "Title IX," an amendment to Title IX of the Civil
Rights Act of 1964, which among other things required that women be granted equal access to
athletics by high schools and colleges, the match helped legitimize women's athletics and
encouraged girls to take up sports." Although Title IX has proven to be both effective and
successful, it unfortunately has some negative adversities. A few examples regarding this matter
comes from "Title IX: A Brief History With Documents." In this book, it states that there are three
major downfalls of Title IX, with one being that universities must increase

The Main Conflict Within The Administration Of The Title IX

  • 1. The Main Conflict Within the Administration of the Title IX I consider myself quite the feminist. Likewise, if you believe that women should receive equal rights to men, then you should consider yourself a feminist, too, and possibly look into the Title IX law, because it is the epitome of feminist success. Since the passing of Title IX, the number of women participating in intercollegiate sports from 1971 has more than quadrupled, going from about 30,000 to more than 150,000 (Garber). Yet, astonishingly, it is far from my favorite amendment to be passed by the federal government. This is because this law has morphed from a well–intentioned piece of legislation that helped to increase female athletic opportunities into an obtrusive quota system that has begun to do more harm than good. Although Title IX has helped in the past to increase gender equality within collegiate sports, in recent years, enforcing its policies has resulted in a decrease of support for male athletes. The problem is not with the general law of Title IX itself, which simply states that any education program receiving federal funding cannot discriminate based on gender ("Gender Equity" 339): it is the way that this law has been enforced. Although the entirety of the Title IX law pertains to a number of aspects of educational institutions, a college's compliance requirements (that is, the rules that must be met in order to be in conformity with the Title IX law) under the athletic portion of Title IX boil down to three major "prongs": 1. The proportion of female ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Title IX And Gender Equality Title IX helped to progress girls educational opportunities in the field of extra curricular and female athletics. John F. Kennedy was a breeding ground for the benefits to be reaped by the opportunities put in place by the passage of the legislation of Title IX. Title IX is part of the United States Education Amendments of 1972. It was meant to address some the flaws in the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was written in order to end discrimination in various fields based on sex, religion, race, color, or national origin, in the area of employment. The drawback of this act was that it did not include any prohibition on gender discrimination in public education and federally assisted programs.Title IX was created in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has led us to believe that men's sports deserve more attention and funds. Title IX fixed the funding issue but made it almost impossible to comply to. The problem with the law was its proportionality factor. There had to be an equal number of sports and similar spending on activities for boys and girls. A few sports that are quite expensive are available to both genders but are dominated by men; such as football and wrestling. The cost of these programs was far greater than the cost of many of the other sports and many argued that because the same amount of money wasn't being spent on females sports, it violated Title IX. The rules for this scenario became lenient because it was impossible to fix the amount of spending that is necessary for certain sports to operate. This issue makes it almost impossible to be proportional so only 20% of all high schools and universities are technically in compliance with Title IX requirements (New Developments Concerning Title ... Ikia Pierre Advisor: Matthew Shirk Extended Essay Title: Affects of Title IX Sports law and its impact on gender equality Research Question: How did the implementation of the TitleIX law impact today's culture and sports in relation to gender? Word Count: 2749 Abstract Research Question: How did the implementation of the TitleIX law impact today's culture and sports in relation to gender? This essays digs deeper into whether or not the titleIX law has impacted sports and culture. It provides clear examples of how the placement of the law benefitted women and showed the progression from then to present. Especially in the participation and opportunities presented in sports in today's culture. It also reflected perspectives of males and sports authorities. The data tables included in this paper were self–constructed. The data was collected from personal research of different areas in the athletic field of interest, specifically in basketball. Interdisciplinary approaches included were history, economics, and psychology. The history involved included the background and the initial reason for the creation of this law. This essay provides examples of women and their experience indirectly and directly tied to the law. It compares using some statistical data the economics of money spent of male compared to females. It also brings in the media's appeal for male athletics because of the revenue they bring in. This essay also includes examples ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Title Ix : The Idea Of Equity Title IX in College Athletics The idea of equity in society particularly in athletics has been a major topic in athletics for many years. However, in spite of the long and storied history of the fight for equity in athletics we still see a lot of misunderstanding especially involving one particular law. This law is Title IX which has a number of awful misconceptions associated with it even from female athletes themselves. One misconception that is very popular especially among the critics of Title IX is the idea that "Title IX exists to force to schools to drop men's sport's"(Kane, pg. 3). This is something that was reinforced by an report authored by Dr. Mary Jo Kane who is a Professor at the University of Minnesota regarding the 40th anniversary of Title IX. Dr. Kane indicated that she opens her sport sociology class discussions on Title IX by asking her class what they know about this subject. Dr. Kane indicated in her report that Title IX "remains a mystery to the vast majority of her students, both male and female" (Kane, pg. 3). Dr. Kane goes on to point out the misconception mentioned above is commonly said by her students including her female D1 scholarship athletes who are the ones that have benefitted most from this law. Overall Title IX is a great law even if it is a law that takes a lot of bad press although this is largely due to the actions or in some cases lack thereof from the leaders who reside in college athletics. Title IX was passed in 1972 by then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The teleological theory therefore holds that the rightness of an action is determined solely by its consequences. The most common example of the teleological theory is Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism (John Stuart Mills) – the end justifies the means (Boatright, 2009) Boatright explains that an action is right if, and only if it produces the greatest balance of pleasure over pain for everyone. One Utilitarian thesis, the Maximalist, states that a right action is one that has not merely some good consequences but the greatest amount of good consequences. Simply put, the end justifies the means. Based on these definitions, we are convinced that Acme Title Pawn operated in a highly utilitarian manner. What justifies this decision? Title IX: A Change In History For Women Nigel Liaw Mr. Gobrail English 3–5A 27 March 2006 A Change in History for Women Women presently play a huge part in daily activities whether it is at school, sports, or work. Over the past three decades, women have gained many rights and privileges that men have had for half a century or longer. Gaining these rights and privileges has allowed women to play important roles in today's society. One of the most debated issues between men and women is Title IX. This issue has created controversial problems that have caused a separation between men and women. Although, Title IX is constantly brought up, it was the beginning of a new era for women. An era that would allow women to be accepted as equals to men in everyday activities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the statistic, it is easy to see how much of an effect Title IX's history has for women. The creation of Title IX in 1972 banned gender discrimination in schools nationwide, particularly in sports (Huffman 4). Without it, superstar female athletes such as Lisa Leslie, Mia Hamm, or the Williams sisters would not be internationally famous. They also would not have the media exposure they get in sports without Title IX. In addition to the few that were just named, media is focusing more and more on female athletes such as Michelle Wie and this year's winter Olympic silver medalist in figure skating, Sasha Cowen. In conjunction with the popularity of female athletes, Title IX has pushed for equality over the past three decades. In Suzanna Huffman's article from "Mass Communication and Society," it states that "Title IX has encouraged school administrators to work toward gender equity in athletic spending, and now many more women participate in college sports and earn college athletic scholarships than in years past" (4). Although this statement is generalized, it is close to the truth in today's culture among men and women. The impact that Title IX has bestowed on women has created a positive outcome. It is astonishing to see what one document in 1972 can do to increase equality for women, yet create so many controversies with it. As it is seen time and time again, issues and problems about Title IX are discussed in a degrading manner. In the past, people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Title IX Legislation In 1972 This study will investigate the question: Did the passage of the Title IX Legislation in 1972 lead to more women going to college? The main focus of my investigation will begin during the year of 1972, to analyze if the Title IX did lead more women going to college. The first source I have selected for my detailed analysis is "The Impact of the Title IX." Barbara Winslow produced this source during the year of 2009, to explain the major impact that the Title IX had on women. This source is relevant to my specific investigation, because it focuses on keypoint information on the Title IX and primarily focuses on the effect it had. This source explains how the Title IX impacted women back then, which has relevance to my question because this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If it wasn't for the passing of the Title IX Legislation, many women wouldn't have the same opportunities as they have today. Males would usually play in sports, such as football, soccer, baseball etc. Now the participation of females have increased, and women are now given the opportunity to play sports in college. Times have definitely changed now because of the Title IX. If it wasn't passed in 1972, there would be chaos. Mainly because the love for sports does not only imply toward men, but women too! Both of these quotes demonstrate the amount of women participating in sports and are entering college is highly increasing. Not only did the Title IX increase the opportunities that women had, but it also made women regain their confidence. The evidence that I used within my investigation is valuable because it highlights key point information and provides the reader with insight on the amount of women playing sports today. However, this evidence does have its limitations. The quote does provide the percentage of women that are athletes in college, but it also does not acknowledge the percentage of males, which of course is still dramatically higher than the women's percentage. However, the quote should acknowledge the amount of men who play sports in college as well. Reason being is practically because men should be acknowledged just as much as ... • 16. Title Ix Of The Education Amendments On June 23, 1972 Title IX of the Education Amendments was signed and put into action. Many people think of this title as the right of women to be able to participate in sport. Title IX was enacted to give women the rights to go to college and receive financial aid, along with also being able to participate in sports. After the title was enacted women would be able to have the same rights as men when it came to education, financial aid, and sports. Title IX has been enacted for forty years and many women have been able to advance in sport and business because of the liberties that Title IX gave to them. Even with all the good outcomes there may have been some negative outcomes as well. Has Title IX accomplished everything that it was meant to? Or is it something that had an effect and made some changes but is still a work in progress? When there is any type of discrimination it will always take time for an act, opposing it, to have an effect and start to make a change. When Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation to set all of the slaves free there weren't many people who where very happy about it; and it did not make all of the discrimination against African American's go away. It took time and effort on both parts and there are still areas in our nation where we can still see discrimination, against African Americans, today. The same goes for the Title IX act. It took a while for women to break through and for it to have a lasting effect for women. But Title ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taking a Look at Title IX Imagine being a female athlete before 1972, you practice playing basketball everyday just like the boys do, but they have multiple scholarship opportunities to go to college where as females do not. They tell you to be a cheerleader or work in the kitchen and stay at home, but in your heart you are a competitor and have a passion for sports. This is a feeling that many females felt before Title IX; was explicated to give female's gender equality in sports. Title IX has positively affected women's sports over the years, but can negatively impact men's teams, especially within the collegiate field. Title IX has changed budgeting and participation numbers between males and females, while opening up several opportunities for women. I am going to inform you how Title IX affects females and males in collegiate and high school sports, the history about Title IX, facts and statistics, how it has positively changed the way women participate in sports, and what it has to do with race and minorities. Some people think Title IX only applies to sports, which is not true. Athletics is only one of ten key areas addressed by the law. These ten other areas include access to higher education, career education, education for pregnant and parenting students, employment, learning environment, math and science, sexual harassment, standardized testing, and technology. Essay on The Effectiveness of Native Title The Effectiveness of Native Title The debate about native title issues has tended to see issues from idealistic perspectives ignoring the practical realities that native title poses to governments, industry and indigenous people. The implementation of the Native Title is an appropriate and significant aspect of Australia's common and statute law, which effectively strives to develop a fair outcome for all Australian citizens. The Native Title Act 1993, like the court Mabo decision in 1992, transforms the ways in, which indigenous ownership of land may be formally recognised and incorporated within Australian legal and property regimes. • 26. Taking a Look at Title IX Title IX was a law signed in to make sure than no one is excluded based on gender. When the law was signed in, the numbers showed that it helped get women more involved in sports. However, with more women involved in sports, men are still the favored gender and women are discriminated against. Women are discriminated against in sports shown by fewer opportunities in high school and college level sports, unequal treatment of women college athletes, and unfair opportunities and treatment to women coaches. Title IX was signed in 1972 and states that "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance" (Anderson). With the law being signed in, a 560% increase of participation at the college level and 990% increase at the high school level ("Title IX Myths and Facts"). This shows that women are interested in getting involved and playing and participating in sports but the lack of opportunity kept females from getting involved at both levels. Given the opportunity to tryout for a team or even play recreationally, women jump at the chance. For a school to meet the requirement for equal opportunity under Title IX it must have "Proportionality. The college must provide athletic opportunities for female students that are 'substantially proportionate' to their enrollment. Program Expansion. The college ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Title Ix And The Law Gender has always been a starting point for much of the judgement in our society whether we realize it or not, and it's exactly the causes of one of the many controversies that there is today. Title IX, the law passed to help overcome prejudice and grant girls the same opportunities as boys, is getting not only the credit it deserves but much backlash to counter it. The main purpose of this law was originally to give girls the opportunity to play the same sports as boys were able to, and thanks to the law girls are now given these opportunities to play sports in addition to also give many transgender students more rights within the schools than ever before. Most don't explicitly look into the complexity of a transgender person's life and all the questions or problems one might face: Do I use the men's or the women's bathroom? Is it appropriate to use this locker room? Those are only two of the many questions a transgender person might run into on a daily basis because of how others would see the situation, how the people who may have a sneaking suspicion that the woman they saw go into the ladies' bathroom isn't actually female by their definition, or how it could also seem strange to see that same person go into the mens' bathroom. These all lead to dysphoria in any person's situation in public places due to the fact that many choose to taunt or mock the person; however, with the help of Title IX these questions could start to vanish from the thoughts of many transgender students which Blad exemplifies with a quote in her article: "Title IX protects all students at recipient institutions from sex discrimination, including sexual violence. Any student can experience sexual violence: from elementary to professional school students; male and female students; straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students; part– time and full–time students; students with and without disabilities; and students of different races and national origins," it says. Equal opportunity to participate in sports seems like a right that is natural and would be a common sense issue, but unfortunately this has not always been the case. In 1972 Congress enacted the Education Amendments of 1972, this contains Title IX which was intended to ensure that discrimination based on sex was eliminated. The area that this has had the most contentious impact is sports. Has Title IX increased women's opportunities to participate in sports during college equitably and fairly? Title IX has increased opportunities for women to participate in college sports programs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Three tests were devised to measure if schools are in compliance with Title IX. They are: 1. Ensuring that opportunities for men and women are substantially proportionate to enrollment by gender. 2. Offering sports that fully and effectively satisfies the interests and abilities of female students. 3. Showing a history and continuing practice of expanding the sports programs for women. Schools need not meet all three, but must meet only one according to the Education Department. These three tests are what all complaints and lawsuits are judged by. They are the backbone of Title IX. With the law and the means to measure and enforce it in place all we had to do was look for results. The 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta give an indication of the impact Title IX has had on women's sports. Women athletes took home 19 of the 44 gold medals the United States won. The women who have accomplished this are "the first generation of women who, from the time they were little kids, were encouraged to participate in sport." (St. George). This certainty signifies that Title IX has had a positive impact on women's sports. Another measure of the success of Title IX is the number of sports programs in the country. Has women's sports programs narrowed the gap with men's programs? The answer is a resounding yes! From 1978 to 1996 colleges and university's around the country added 1,658 women's sports programs while at the same time men's sports ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To get one you need to own your auto outright, free from any liens. You give the lender your title to secure the loan and you continue to drive your car. Usually the loan amounts are in the $250 to $1500 range, but depending on the value of your car the amount may be as high as $10,000. Loan Terms Loan repayment can be worked out in a number of ways. Here are two of the most common: First, the loan is made for 30 days. You need to repay the amount you borrow plus the interest in 30 days. If you are unable to pay the full amount, you usually can roll over the loan by paying only the interest. Then you have a new note to pay in another 30 days. Usually they will roll it over again and again. Auto title loan companies want to make as much money as possible from you. Eventually you need to repay the loan. In the mean time they will gladly take your interest payments. The other variation is to take out a loan for several months with interest paid monthly. Then a balloon payment for the amount borrowed is due at the end of the loan term. An example: An auto title loan is made for $2500. The borrower must make payments of $400 a month (200% per year) and then pay the $2500 in a balloon payment in 7 or 8 months. Can They Be Useful? Auto title loans can serve a purpose. Although Lots of girls play sports they were not encourage before. In the early days of title 9 the number of girls playing sports was so low it would have been difficult for schools to suddenly provide exactly the same opportunities for boys and girls. Instead the government wrote rules that gave schools three options or tests to demonstrate fairness in opportunities for girls the three tests are "Proportionality, Progress, and Satisfied interest." With the change from Keatings progressive labour government to John Howard's' conservative Coalition government, came resounding regression to the Native Title act, with the 10 point plan, and the coinciding Wik decision nine months after. The Wik VS Queensland case (1996) established that in cases of conflict between pastoral leases and native title, pastoral leases override and can successfully extinguish native title , which was adopted with the change of legislation and introduction of the Native Title amendment Act (1998). If there is no conflict, they can coexist. Many cases of Native Title extinguishment has occurred, and only approximately 600 areas hold Native Title in all of Australia, with less than 1% in NSW. As a procession from the Native Title declaration, this legislature has digressed justice to the ATSI community , and as further iterated by Sydney Morning Herald has "undone the good of the Mabo decision". ATSI discrimination following the legislation of the Native title Act (1996) significantly rose in the public discourse with renowneded personalities claiming they could "take their backyards", and an unspoken deeply– rooted fear for many, dating back to Australia's colonization; that Australia could be declared completely under Native Title, and the sovereignty of the Crown could be questioned . For ATSI peoples', the introduction of the 10 point plan, and the Native Title Ammendment Act (1998) marks a significant national regression upon achieving justice for their community as they sought to pour ""bucket–loads of extinguishment" on the native title rights of Indigenous Australians. This quote from Shakespeare is from the balcony scene when Juliet tells Romeo that his name is meaningless and that he is still a handsome young man and that only their family names are enemies. This same quote can be applied in today's society in how people address each other based on different situations, especially when addressing women. There are many different titles that can be used to address women as opposed to men, but despite the title used, the woman herself does not change. Only the meaning and stereotype associated with the title used changes. Throughout the years, the titles used to address women have slowly shifted meaning from that of a social status to that of a marital status. Erickson (2014) explains that the titles "Miss" and "Mrs." are the oldest coined terms used to address women, and both of them derive from the title "Mistress." Both titles were generally only used for those of higher power and status. "Miss" described young girls while "Mrs.", described women who had governed subjects, was skilled, or who taught. Upon reaching adulthood, a "Miss" became a "Mrs.", and according to the Oxford English Dictionary, it was common for older, unmarried women to still use the title "Mrs." so they could increase their standing to be on par with married women. • 46. Land Title System In Canada The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is located in St Pierre–Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the entire jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the steps to be taken in real estate sales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles system is used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the registry system, a transfer of ownership must be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the transfer must be filed. Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from interests that the land titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be taken. There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property in question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used for, the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the land and that ... This process will consist of contacting the dealer by phone, email or fax to notify them of the accounts that have a title on hold for missing odometer statement. The solution should be implemented because it is quick to implement, will have a low cost to implement and will have a big impact on the issue. If the dealers are notified as soon as the title is placed on hold they can fax or email the odometer to the Title Services and Support department immediately. The Title Services and Support department will be able to deliver the title to the dealer a timely manner. The advantage of renting a dwelling is the lack of time commitment required. If a lease is required, it may be for a one–year term. If the situation is not agreeable to the tenant, or the tenant needs to relocate out of the area, or prefers a different location, the option to move is available without a penalty. Some rental units may be available on a monthly basis. While many rental agreements require a security deposit, that deposit would be significantly less than a down payment and loan closing costs required for the purchase of a residence. While the rental amount may cover the owner's cost of insurance, maintenance, and taxes, they are not the direct responsibility the tenant. Maintenance and repairs are also the responsibility of the property owner not the tenant. A tenant has much less responsibility than the property owner. The decision saw an exponential increase in cultural and economic resurgence fundamentally oiled by the judgement. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Native Title Act 1993 was legislated following the decision in Mabo (No2). The Act itself extinguished the colonial doctrine of Terra Nullius and instead established native title rights. Terra Nullius as the name suggests is a Roman law concept, which literally means 'Land belonging to no one'. Brennan J in Mabo decision rejected the doctrine and its early derivative concepts of native title and essentially replaced it with aboriginal customs, traditions and laws which are recognised legally under Australian common law. The 1993Act provides a process through which the indigenous people can lodge an application to seek a determination of native title to their land. There were significant amendments to the Act, including the introduction of a registration test and indigenous Land Use Agreement. This mechanism allows the aboriginal people who assert that their traditional rights have not been extinguished, and also to validate retrospectively the land titles of the occupiers that may have been called into question by decisions. The judgement in Mabo (No2) depicted that until the decision, the Australian law was actually based upon the precept that with the acquisition of sovereignty ownership of all lands would become the Crown's automatically. So this practically left no room for the common law to recognise any pre–existing aboriginal law in the form of native title. The Mabo case undoubtedly changed this notion by identifying that radical title, rather than absolute beneficial ownership was a concomitant of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How to Get an Auto Title Loan Unexpected emergencies are one of the most difficult things to budget for. If you own a car and find yourself in unexpected situation that requires some extra money, you can always apply for an auto title loan. Here is how you can apply for a car title loan: In order for you to qualify for an auto title loan, you must own the car being used as security and the car must be paid off or nearly paid off. You will also be required to show proof of ownership as well as your repayments on the vehicle before you qualify. The lender you choose may consider your employment status and source of income when determining approval. It's always important to have a secure source of income as this will assure the lender that you will have no problems repaying the loaned amount. Students Seek Change For Title Xi Abigail Daniels POLI 310 Policy Memorandum: Title XI September 10th, 2016 Students Seek Change for Title XI Title XI at Glance Every time an American citizen turns on the news, there is a headline involving a sexual harassment case or unfortunately, cases of rape. Most news stories are focused on a questionable school policy that fails to have reasonable judgment and punishment for students involved. Recent cases in the news, like the Brock Turner case has turned viral due to the publicity and exposure it had among young people. This particular case was something that was so real to students in both high school and college, that millennial's began to alter their perception of how insensitively harassment cases are handled. The Title XI policy that is being enforced in school systems now, is a policy that has been up for debate by those who enforce the policy and those the policy effects for years now. The policy belongs to the education amendments of 1972. One might say that the policy is outdated. Although the policy has seen some updates to its history, the language of the act is irrelevant in context to current situations the school systems are facing now. The question remains, how does one change the policy and what policies need to be made. The policy itself states that, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or ... • 62. Physical Dimensions And Land Title Act Physical dimensions of property Property comes with stings attached; a fee simple owner can enjoy a bundle of rights but there are a number of reservations to the Crown as well as restrictions on the physical dimensions and use of property. By utilizing a fundamental principle of Ad coelum doctrine and a three–dimensional concept; surface, airspace and subsurface of property, rights of landownership and use of property will be examined. Then I will present three cases that modified the principle or physical dimensions. The basic principle Historically the common law maxim: "cujus est solum ejus est usque ad coelum et ad inferos"– He who owns the soils, owns up to the heavens and down to the depth of the earth, was said to apply to physical dimensions of property. Ad coelum doctrine, however, is largely outdated and inaccurate in BC because the use and the extent of land in three dimensions are regulated. Before discussing rights and restrictions, I will explain physical boundaries. Boundaries and Land Title Act In old days, description of boundaries of land used physical objects. Toady in BC with a few exceptions, meets and bounds, measurement of distances, angles, and directions measured by surveyors, are included in Land Title System. In the past when a party wrongly assumes the boundary, without any contracuaral agreement the law of adverse possession could alter the title. Although the law has been abolished in BC by sections 24 and 171 of the Land Title Act (LTA)), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Bransford Schema Abstract In this experiment we replicated a study done by Bransford and Johnson (1972). They conducted research on memory using schemas. All human beings possess categorical rules or scripts that they use to interpret the world. New information is processed according to how it fits into these rules, called schemas. Bransford and Johnson did research on memory for text passages that had been well comprehended or poorly comprehended. Their major finding was that memory was superior for passages that were made easy to comprehend. For our experiment we used two different groups of students. We gave them different titles and read them a passage with the intentions of finding out how many ideas they were able to recall. Since our first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In completing this experiment all the students received a small amount of extra credit points toward their course. Procedure The experiment was conducted as follows; first the experimenters greeted the participants and handed out consent forms to each individual along with a blank piece of paper. After all the consent forms were signed, one experimenter collected them. Then the experimenter wrote on the board either the specific title (doing laundry), or the non–specific title (a simple procedure). The titles remained on the board for five seconds, and then were erased. At that point they were then asked to listen to a passage: The procedure is actually quite simple. First you arrange things into different groups. Of course, one pile may be sufficient depending on how much there is to do. If you have to go somewhere else due to lack of facilities that is the next step; otherwise you are pretty well set. It is important not to overdo things. That is, it is better to do too few things at once than too many. In the short run this may not seem important but complications can easily arise. A mistake can be expensive as well. At first the whole procedure will seem complicated. Soon, however, it will become just another fact of life. It is difficult to foresee any end to the necessity for this task in the immediate future, but then one can never tell. After the procedure is completed one arranges the materials into different groups again. Then they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the article Media Coverage of Women's Sport: A New Look at an Old Problem, "There is evidence that these injustices are not diminishing over time, as Duncan and Messner (2000), in their longitudinal analysis, found the amount and type of coverage of women's sport in broadcast media has not changed since 1989" (Cunningham 44). The problem of inequality within media has been a problem for years and there haven't been improvements. It has been said over the years that the amount of media coverage may vary depending on what female sport it is. Cunningham says, "Several authors have found that women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Media coverage for women's sports needs to rise and hopefully Title IX will soon have an effect. Title XI was created to open doors for women, but not at the expense of closing doors for men. This law rules that a college's percentage of each gender athletic must coincide with the number of gender enrollment within the school. According to a U.S News article Title XI Dark Legacy, "Colleges pursuing "proportionality" can try to increase the number of female athletes so that women account for 57 percent of athletes, or–the more surefire and less costly path–eliminate male athletes from the roster" (Lukas 1). Why should men get cut just to make sure that there are enough women within athletics? There isn't any equality in the situation if one or the other sacrifice for the other. College athletics need to try gain more money and more female athletes so they can afford them and males won't have to get cut. Not only are male players getting cut from rosters, but some male sports are getting cut all together just to accommodate for female sports. In 2007, the College Sports Council conducted an analysis of NCAA data between the years of 1981–2005. They realized the number of female athletes per college increased by 34%, as well at the number of women's teams. They also realized that the number of male athletes per school decreased by 6% and the number of male teams decreased by 17% (Lukas 1). In 1994, the reverse discrimination case ... Title IX on Sexual and Race Discrimination Research paper Title IX What if you were told that there may be a law created intended to remove discrimination between the sexes in education and sports, or that in the matter of athletics and job occupations both men and women are given equal opportunities? Would you then agree or disagree with the ideology that both sexes are still treated different even though this law was created and the opportunities that were promised aren't precisely indistinguishable? Title IX is not an accurate protection of sexual discrimination, it doesn't give equal opportunities, and is unjust as far as benefits between male and female sports. In order for schools to allow and equal set of opportunities for all female sports there must first be space at the school and in the schools budget. Consequently, due to the fact that around the time the law was created the number of male sports were dominant compared to female sports, the schools had to eliminate the count of male sports. A large amount of male students attempted to sue this law as stated by CBS news. The male athletes claimed that by the way the law was being enforced, they felt that their athletics departments were "losing out" to women departments. During a 60 minutes report the women who ran and swam their way through college with the assistance of athletic scholarships were called the daughters of Title IX. For instance, Julie Foudy who claims that Title IX is the blaim for her success of being a professional athlete and the reason she was the captain of a team that won the world cup. Julie remarked upon Title IX with statements such as "We were Title IX babies," and "I think it all, it all trails back to Title IX, for sure." For Foudy the law opened doors for opportunist and success for the male students this just so happens to not be the case. • 72. Use Of Linkedin Authority For Career Branding Purposes ESSAYS42700 6 – How to use LinkedIn authority for career branding purposes Image – http://assets3.thrillist.com/v1/image/1492657/size/tmg–slideshow_xl Start by picking a brand focus, which you may better know as a brand principle. When people refer to a brand principle in business, they are referring to the rule a company lives by, or an aspect of the company or its products. It is a company's way of saying, "We stand for this," and your brand focus should be a similar thing. It is similar (but not the same) because you need to show people what you stand for, but you also need to highlight something specifically terrific about yourself. Tip – Think of yourself as selling a service instead of selling a product. The service is your time and expertise. Creating a brand–friendly title Your title needs to in some way reflect your brand focus. It doesn't have to state it overtly, and it may look at little tacky if you do, but it should give readers a hint around what to expect. The biggest mistake that people make is to state their current job in their title/headline. For example, your brand may be that you are an exemplary biomedical scientist who deals with fecal matter. However, you may currently be working as a meter maid since having your baby. Some users would make the mistake of writing that they were a meter maid in the title/headline. Even though it is true, it is not a brand–friendly title, since a brand–friendly title/headline would either state that the profile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I used the OneSearch Database through UNF's online library. I selected this study because it focuses on the impact of Title IX on the career opportunities in intercollegiate athletic administration. Bower, G.G., & Hums, M.A. (2013). The impact of Title IX on career opportunities in intercollegiate athletic administration. Journal of Intercollegiate Sport (6), 213–230. 2. The literature review of this article focuses on Title IX itself, as well as statistical numbers that provide the reader knowledge about the impact it has had. Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that has removed many barriers that once prevented people, on the basis of sex, from participating in educational opportunities and careers of their choice (Bower & Hums, 2013). Acosta and Carpenter (2012) reported that the number of female athletes playing college sports has risen from 16,000 in 1968 to over 200,000 in 2012. Although the increased number of opportunities has provided women the chance to participate in the sport, the percentage of women coaching women's teams has decline over time from 90% in 1972 to 42.9% in 2012 (Acosta & Carpenter, 2012). Alongside coaching is the lack of women working in intercollegiate administration. In 1972, the percentage of female athletic directors overseeing women's programs was 90%, Today, the percentage of female athletic directors is 20.3%, a small increase from 2010 ... Title IX Title IX Before Title IX was signed by President Nixon on June 23 and went into effect on July 1 of 1972, both women and young girls were excluded from many activities that men and young boys were allowed to do. Since the passing of Title IX, women have excelled in all sports tremendously. This essay will argue that because of Title IX, women can now participate in various activities and sports. He challenged the top female players in the world to matches and "bolted to national prominence with his blunt putdowns of women's tennis and the role of today's female," reported Mr. Amdur. Whereas Billie King, on the other hand, won 6 Wimbledon single championships and 4 U.S. Open titles. Billie King ended up defeating Bobby Riggs in "The Battle of the Sexes" tennis match. This led Billie King's victory to be the most energized sporting event in women's history. As stated in a New York Times article, "Though this match was more of a spectacle than a sporting event, it had enormous symbolic importance. Played just a year after the passage of "Title IX," an amendment to Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which among other things required that women be granted equal access to athletics by high schools and colleges, the match helped legitimize women's athletics and encouraged girls to take up sports." Although Title IX has proven to be both effective and successful, it unfortunately has some negative adversities.
