1. Fromthe SEIKO watch advertising atthe star newspaper on 11 December 2014
was show outthe company was trying to persuasion the reader. In the
advertising, the slogan “set your own criteria for success" which bring the
information on if you wantto be successfulin your life then you need to have a
"criteria" which reflect to the expensive watch wear by the guy in the picture. This
was persuading other who wants to be success or havesuccessfulfeeling to
spend more money to buy a watch and show that they are already success in the
way of having an expensive watch.
Next, wealso can feel the picture of the advertising is stereotypeto gender. The
advertising was using men as a model to promotetheir product. This will give lady
or woman feels that only the men can get successes in their life and woman can
not doing that if based on the picture and slogan wrote. Therefore, when a group
of women starting discuss aboutthe problem they will also affect and bring their
same gender friend to have negative emotion toward this advertisement.
Lastly, some of the people will think they also can be successfuland perfect
without having this SEIKO watch. But, when welook on the advertising slogan
which are “set your own criteria for success” and “dedicated to perfection” have a
meaning on if you do not buy this watch you will looking down by other people
who had bought it because it havea meaning of perfectly success on this brand
watch. Thus, prejudice is happen between who had bought and who does not
bought and discrimination was happened when someonehave the SEIKO watch
looking down who does not having and show negativeactions directed towards
members of disliked groups.
In conclusion, this type of problem can reduced through shifts the boundaries
between the women and men and who bought the watch and who does not. No
matter what happened, we must respecteach other and know how to makeour
own decision regarding what to challenge and what not to challenge.
