2. Only Participate In Opportunities
Where There Are Takeaways
Never provide product without a guarantee of some sort of
takeaway – including a logo, a press call out, photos, social
media posts, or testimonials from attending talent. Or at
least a photo of the gift bag that you can use for your own
social media.

3. The Screening
Process
There is always a screening
process to what brand will
make it for inclusion in the gift
bag.
Brand managers should expect
to provide two to five items of
whatever product is being
considered, and not expect it to
be returned.

4. They Say They Don’t Want My Brand
If the brand is declined, don’t give up! Work on the
core story of why the product is beneficial, which will
help make it stand out for selection for another event
opportunity.

5. Decide What The
Product Will Be4
Providing company product – the
actual product – in a bag is one
option, with the other option being
a gift certificate.
Higher (perceived) valued items get
more press and attention.
6. A-List Talent Or
Life On The D-List
Lesser known celebs still get PR -
and are more relatable to
consumers! And they are usually
more open to photographs or
actually using the brand versus
giving it to an assistant.

7. Plan At Least 3 Months In Advance
In order to lock in the best options - and
exclusivity - plan in advance! Although... last
minute can get you lower fees if you can turn on
a dime and luck into an opportunity!

8. Secure Press Exposure
Provide extra product for press - this
is more important than what the
celebrities will take home! Media
base stories on the celebrity’s favorite
items - often highly influenced by
their own personal favorites.
Look for opportunities to include your
product in event swag bags given
away on air on various talk shows or
broadcast news segments, donated
to charities or as part of a home
consumer giveaway.

9. Write A Press Release
And Distribute It
Make sure it is allowed, and write a
short press release after the event,
listing celebrities who received the
product.
Provide photos secured on site with
the celebrities to go with the release.
Distribute the press release in order to
get potential additional press and
increase the brand’s overall SEO and
keyword search.
