• Power Minister said there was no
need for lower taxes to encourage
clean energy.
• The GST regime will have no
impact on power rates.
• However, the lower GST rate of 5
per cent on energy sector,
compared to 11.69 per cent earlier,
would help discoms provide power
at affordable rates.

10. DEMONETISATION
• Maharashtra State
Electricity
Distribution Company
Ltd as saying,
• since the
announcement of
demonetization,
discoms in the state
have seen payments
of old bills cross Rs 1
billion ($ 14.74
million) within a
week.
