History of the Sony Playstation Essay examples
Playstation
One of the biggest giants in the video game world today is Sony and their revolutionary Playstation.
Right now their Playstation 3 is in circulation throughout the world, but prior to last year there was
the original Playstation, and Playstation 2. This was the first video game system that used CD's as
disks for their games, instead of the usual cartridges used by Nintendo, Sega, Atari, and many other
companies. It started off as a collaboration with Sony and Nintendo in 1988 trying to create an
extension to Nintendo's console Super Nintendo called the Super Disk, since most companies were
about to start making systems that way, and it was also much cheaper to create. Since Nintendo
figured out that Sony would get all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This console had an Internet compatibility to play against other users since Microsoft was about to
release a video gaming system called X–Box, which was going to be online as well. It was the first
video gaming system that could read both CD–ROM's and DVD–ROM's, which was a main reason
people, bought this system because it was also a DVD player. It was also backwards compatible
with the original Playstation games and memory cards. The controller was also updated called the
Dual Shock 2, which vibrated and contained all of the same buttons as the original. It also supported
USB with expansion ports. It contained a 128–bit computer–processing unit and contained 32 MiB
of Direct Rambus and had a resolution of 1280 by 1024 pixels. It became the fastest selling and
dominator of home video game console in video game history. By December 2006, 115 million
Playstation 2 consoles were shipped and sold throughout the world, when the newest system arrived
the Playstation 3. The latest and greatest from Sony called the Playstation 3. It was released on
November 17, 2006 in the United States and cost between 499 and 599 dollars. It was a part of the
seventh generation of video games competing with Microsoft's X–Box 360 and Nintendo's Wii. This
system contained a 20–gigabyte hard drive and in the higher priced versions a 60–gigabyte hard
drive. It also had within it flash memory readers and wifi. It works on the Internet

Analysis Of Video Game Consoles And The Two Companies
1) What are your group 's chosen IT market sector and TWO competing "public" companies that
your group will base its ITMSA research? Why did you choose these two public companies? Please
explain.
My groups chosen IT market sector is video game consoles and the two companies we have chosen
are Microsoft and Sony. We chose these two public companies because they are the largest ones
when it comes to the creation of video games and video game consoles. Microsoft represents the
Xbox series which is one of the largest game consoles in the world while Sony represents
PlayStation which is also one of the largest game consoles in the world. We picked these companies
because I knew we would be able to find a lot of information on them and they are heavy
competitors with each other.
2) What are 3 key findings (facts, information) from your IT Market Sector research (not company
research) you found using the IBISWorld business database that correspond to one or more of the
topics in "Section 2: Market Sector Analysis" in your Google Doc? Cite your sources following
APA.
The first key finding I had on IBISWorld was the fact that annual growth in the video game market
has grown by 4.0% (IBISWorld, 1). I also found that the video game publishing software employs
over 103,000 individuals (IBISWorld, Software Publishing). The last key finding I had was that the
social network game department has advanced heavily since its introduction to the systems
(IBISWorld, Social Network).

This makes it competitive. Like stated before there is the possibility to stream movies and series
trough a service they made possible especially for the Playstation 3.
The things that are written above are all possible on the Playstation 3, but with an onion ring
diagram we can sort those possibilities out in to a clear picture. This is done by describing the
products different parts and possibilities and also dividing the product in to: the core product, the
tangible product, augmented product and potential product.
Core product: The core product is of course the gaming experience and the entertainment.
Tangible product: The tangible product is the Playstation 3 itself, the hardware, The controller and
cables.
Augmented product: This is the ting you receive with a Playstation 3 but you can't actually touch. In
the case of the Playstation 3 it is of course the fun, the family time. And also the movie
entertainment experience.
Potential product: With the Playstation 3 it is quite difficult to come up things to add to the
possibilities you already have. But next to gaming, movies it would be possible to have a computer
connection so you can surf the web. This is discussed further in the recommendation.

Xbox vs. PlayStation The Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are the most popular gaming systems in
today's market. Sony and Microsoft try everything to meet the needs of the consumer and get people
to buy their product. In doing so they design them to meet today's society while also staying fairly
similar with the previous models. Since the hardware is very similar, the accessories and add–ons
play a huge role in determining if the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 is superior. The Xbox one is a
sleek and very nice looking console designed to impress the buyer with its shiny gloss black finish
and touch screen buttons to make it easier to operate. The Xbox One controller was completely

They are much more reactive and have a lot better processors. The consoles are well equipped with
great storage and can hold plenty of content. The PlayStation is known to have a more comfortable
controller with a smaller and skinnier design to better fit the player and make it a more enjoyable
experience. Sony improved the thumb sticks so that they don't touch while playing, the triggers have
an inward curve unlike the previous outward curve on the PS3, and the thumb sticks have a concave
surface for more comfort (www.ign.com). The play station has wireless rechargeable controllers and
is compatible with hdmi for more vivid picture and shapes. They are both excellent gaming consoles
but are so complex that they have many differences. The biggest advantage of a PlayStation is that it
can play Blu–ray movies, it has a 500GB hard drive, and it is $400, which is $100 cheaper than the
Xbox (Best Buy). The Xbox one also has the features of Blu–ray and a 500GB hard drive, however
it cannot connect to a mobile device while playing a game unlike the PlayStation (www.ign.com).
Consumers rated the PlayStation 4.7 out of 5 stars and the Xbox received a 4.6 which is very close
considering the PlayStation was released a week before the

in itself to alter the corporate culture, but there are examples of mission statements that have had a
significant impact on corporate culture, depending on the approach of the company. We will look at
two of the more prominent Japanese companies that have been struggling through the economic
hardships of the past decade. When the company was founded in 1946, Mr. Ibuka created the
Founding Perspectus, a document outlining the mission and values that he wanted his company to
adopt. The first section was the "Purpose of Incorporation", which was broken down into the
following eight points: a. To establish of an ideal factory that stresses a spirit of freedom and open–

PlayStation and the Walkman, paved the way for other electric devices without which most of us are
not able to imagine their lives. In this essay, case study information and further research is used to
illustrate Sony's strategy and culture as well as to give recommendations for the future. The case
study 'Sony in the new Millennium" that is used for discussion was written by Robin John of the
London South Bank University. Information that is not taken out of the case study is clearly marked

Prahalad and Hamel (1990) call the capabilities 'core competences' which is similar to Johnson et al.
(2011) who argue that there has to be a clear distinction between so called threshold resources and
competences, which are essential capabilities that a company has to have in order to be able to
compete in an industry; and the distinctive capabilities that make it possible for a company to form a
strategic advantage. A table with Sony's threshold and distinctive capabilities can be found in

Nintendo.
Microsoft has a product called the Xbox 36, while Nintendo has the Wii.
Nintendo has centered its game play around motion capture technology by making all of their games
centered on motion sense.
The Xbox is backwards compatible with its previous Xbox games unlike the PS3 which can turn
some customers toward the Xbox.
Xbox also has a lower price than their most comparable competitor Sony, with the Xbox costing
$150 and lower and the Playstation offered at no lower than $200.
Although Nintendo's game play mechanics are significantly different it also is offered for the

Sony is successfull in acquiring licenses and patents for building strategic partnerships and business
development. Sony is licensed to use not only local Japanese patents; in fact, Sony is even more
successfull in obtaining licenses to use international (foreign) patents. Another interesting point is
that Sony can still use some other patents even without legally owning them.
Reputation of brand name and corporate image. Sony is a globally well–known brand name and it is
illogical to question the top quality of the products and services. Regarding the products, I always
found the functionality and design very appealing. Regarding the services, Sony is famous for its
post–purchase services. Contacts are always kept with every client and warranty are available for
products sold. Finally, Sony works hard to support customer information centers in its biggest

Nowadays, it takes just a few minutes for a customer to make research and evaluate competitors.
Customer reviews provide others with valuable insights. The point here is that this decreases
switching (transaction) costs for customers to switch from Sony to Apple, for example, and vice
versa. As it was mentioned earlier, customers are sensitive to prices and price elasticity of demand is
high. The most important thing that matters to customers is price, not quality, because all of big
players offer very similar products in terms of design and functionality. More customers prefer
buying online, and this pushes down switching (transaction) costs even further. To summarize,
buyers have the power to influence Sony directly because they can easily switch to competitors; but
also indirectly, through exchange rates, as Sony is all about international

Sony 's Corporate Brand Identity
Background
Sony is one of the largest consumer electronics manufacturers in the world. It has introduced various
high quality products such as the Play Station series product line. However, Sony has not managed
to have a positive net income and has faced six net loss in the last seven years. Aiming for a turning
a round, Sony declares a goal of $4.8 million of operating profit in the fiscal year 2017 and targets a
10% return on equity (the Economist, 2015). Sony's business strategy to is to restructure and divide
the company into three sectors, which are Growth Drivers, Stable Profit Generators, and Volatility

dollar, and the Euro (Griffin Consulting Group, 2012). Although the economic landscape is
changing for Sony, the company has potential to grow through its reorganizing activities.
Problem Statement
Sony must reposition its "growth driven" and "stable profit generator" sectors in their markets to
increase its audience, achieve sales growth, profit expansion and maximization, and capture market
shares.
Alternative Solutions
To regain some of its market share in its "growth driven" and "stable profit generators" sectors, Sony
can reposition its competition in the minds of consumers. For instance, Sony can use comparative
advertising to demonstrate that its brands are superior to its competitors. In this situation, Sony can
attempt to alter the portrayed image of its competitor, Nintendo, and position its PlayStation game
console as the better–quality product (Positioning(marketing), n.d).
Sony can also differentiate themselves in the market by employing a consumer–focused positioning
strategy. A consumer–focused positioning strategy revolves around consumers. This strategy can be
tailor made to the audience by using social media, apps, and other online platforms to engage,
access, and directly communicate with consumers (Positioning(marketing), n.d.). Being consumer
focused is in line with Sony's new planning

The Battle Of The Consoles
Battle of the Consoles The battle of the best console has been in full force since Microsoft and Sony
created the Xbox and PlayStation. They have caused controversy among gamers for numerous years.
The majority of articles state, "PS4 has been more popular compared to Xbox" (Feria). People like
to argue which is better, but when choosing it is mostly a matter of opinion. Most gamers do not
look at the statistics. The PlayStation 4 has continually outsold the Xbox One since their release
(Elise). When researching, one can infer that the PlayStation 4 is a better choice than the Xbox One.
Games
First of all, all gamers have personal preferences, and quite a few favor PlayStation 4 games over
Xbox One games. Each console has games that are limited to only them. Microsoft has been
preparing new games, such as Titanfall, that are completely exclusive to the Xbox One (Feria). Sony
is also going to launch new exclusive games in 2015 like Uncharted 4 and The Order (Feria). Since
there are only a select few games that are exclusive, it makes it difficult to say which is better in this
matter. Some users depend on the graphics of the games that are not exclusive to the consoles to
decide between them. The graphics of the PlayStation 4's games often have a higher quality than
those of the Xbox One. A user's opinion is the sole method in deciding between the consoles when it
comes to games.

How On Deal With A Standards Battle?
Shiwei Wang 1417378 How to deal with a standards battle?
Introduction
In recent years, the rapid development of technology has raised businessmen's awareness regarding
the strategy to deal with standards battles. When a new technology is released onto a market, several
competing standards are likely to be released. Under these circumstances, a standards battle may be
faced by companies. Clearly, it is of great importance to establish effective strategies to address the
problem since companies betting on the wrong standard can result in high losses or even leaving the
market (Shapiro and Varian, 1999).
When talking about standards battles, the Blu–ray Disc vs. HD DVD format war was one case
which had generated fierce discussion. This essay will first give a brief description of the Blue–ray
Disc and HD DVD case. Then, it will introduce the concept of network effects which played an
important role in the format war. Finally, some suggestions will be given to deal with standards
battles based on the analysis of the case. It is argued that making commitments to a company's own
technology, building an early lead and attracting suppliers of complement could be three effective
strategies for a chief executive officer to deal with standards battles.
Blue–ray Disc and HD DVD case
The format war between HD DVD and Blu–ray Disc could be traced back to 1995, when companies
began experimenting with the blue laser diode, which had shorter wavelength and enabled more data

Have you ever wondered which gaming console was the better pick, or purchase? I am sure a lot of
people have run into this problem. I'm here with this essay to make sure you make the right choice,
of course it's your purchase so it's all personal preference on which console you decide to buy. The
two consoles I have chosen to compare & contrast are the Xbox One and the PS4. These consoles
are both very well known consoles, and the developers who made the invention make lots of money
off of these two consoles every year. These two well known consoles are probably some of the
biggest money makers every year. When a new console is released and you're trying to get your
hands on it on the release day you may run into some problems. Even worse problems than Black

You need a good gamepad to play games, and both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have them. The
Xbox One gamepad is a slightly updated version of the Xbox 360 controller, with a more rounded
feel and trigger buttons that offer individual force feedback. The DualShock 4, the PS4's gamepad,
is a completely overhauled controller that keeps the best parts of the DualShock 3 gamepad and
fixes the worst. The analog sticks feel better, the triggers are more responsive, and the controller just
feels nicer in the hand. It even features a built–in speaker and a potentially useful, but so far
underutilized touchpad in the middle. The only problem with the DualShock 4 is the light bar that
marks which controllers are on and assigned to which players. Fortunately, Sony has since updated
the PS4 to let you dim the light bar significantly, which cuts down on

The Cyber Attack Of Sony 's Playstation Network
In the era of information rich technology, society has unwittingly exposed individual identities to
big corporations online, whereby intensely secure information of oneself is used to stimulate
revenue. With digital profiles that are created and used daily on social networking mediums such as
Facebook, individuals are creating a platform for data mining, phishing and also malicious activities
of online predators. There are many large corporations that claim to keep information confidential,
which strengthens trust with users to distribute personal information within their databases. This can
be elucidated with the use of cloud based services, and it is concerning the activities are executed
with this access of information. Some of these questionable factors about confidentiality are
mentioned in the terms and conditions of a site, that are read by the scarce minority of people.
Nonetheless, with instances such as the cyber–attack of Sony's PlayStation Network, it is evident
that there is little to no information that is secure in the digital world. It is therefore evident that
possessing knowledge about these issues will lead to greater security. It is the free to use social
mediums such as Facebook that pose the greatest risk of tracking and obtaining identity information.

Japan 's Defeat During World War II Essay
Masaru Ibuka founded Sony Corporation in the aftermath of Japan's defeat during World War II (IJ
106). Following the company's startup, Ibuka urged Akio Morita, a navy technical lieutenant in
thermos optical weapons, to come to Tokyo and join him in the start–up of his new business venture
(IJ 106). In May 1946, Sony Corporation was officially established as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo
Kabushiki Kaisha (Kabushiki Kaisha), a joint stock company (SE1). From the start Ibuka and
Morita were determined to develop a global market for their products (Global 50). During the early
1950's Japanese products suffered from the public perception of their "poor quality" as compared to
products made in the United States (IJ 106). Morita reasoned that if Sony was going to enter into the
manufacturing and sales of electronic equipment, it was necessary to establish a market presence in
the United States (IJ 107). Thus in 1952, Morita decided to traveled to the United States in order to
examine how US companies manufactured and marketed tape recorders as well as to examine
potential market opportunities for Totsuken exports (IJ 107) At the time, Western Electric had
recently made the patent rights for manufacturing a transistor (which was invented in 1948 at
AT&T's Bell Laboratories) available to anyone who would pay royalties. Ibuka's desire to

When looking at how companies, specifically transnational corporations you have to consider what
that money could be used for especially in an age where most companies possess more capital than
most countries, This can be seen clearly in the case of Wal–Mart with its overall revenues surpassing
the GDP of Norway making it in theory the 25th biggest country in the world.(Trivett, 2011) Would
it be so far off base to suggest that Sony to some extent carries some weight on the political scene

Now we all know in the future there is going to be technology beyond our predictions, but learning
how gaming works on a scientific level would be interesting. Like how some data in the memory
cards Sony created for the playstation which happened to be small in size regarding storage and
game usage. More scientific information I plan to learn is how graphics make video games come to
life, and how much the AI or artificial intelligence in video games have more and more common
sense than usual games. Designers who create and develop video games want the players to feel a
videogame is real, which is why they decided to add vibration to the controllers for the systems. So
if there was an explosion or if you where to reload your weapon it would vibrate indicating that real
life experience. Although Sony who are the creators of Playstaion added sound to the controllers,
which allowed gamers to have the feeling of being involved with the game on a personal level,
because their game is talking to them.
Every time a new system comes out I am always investigating all the details from small to big. But
one thing I didn't really understand was the online downloading for games without buying the disc.

only had a total of eight employees selling radios out of a store. The company grew to fame to its
innovation of the portable Walkman. In 1979 song created the first ever portable music player. The
Walkman was created by Nobutoshi Kihara and the creator of the company Masaru Ibuka. It was
Ibuuka idea to build the Walkman. He told the designer to build something small that you have
listen to music on the go. So on July 1st 1979 the Product came on the market. At the time the
company made 30,000 Walkman and they hope the consumer would like it and many would sell.
Not only did they sell the 30,000 but the number of Walkman sold was unimaginable. The company
sold over 400 million Walkman to date. The Walkman was ahead of its time. It premise of the
Walkman is still used today. A Portable device that you can plug headphones in and listen to the
music of your choice on the go. Some companies only have one great invention but Sony had many

Threat of new Entrants:
The possibility that there will be a new entrant into the game –console industry is quite unlikely, for
many reasons. The technological know –how is quite high, and would require significant capital to
invest into, in order to be able to compete with current competitors; the fixed costs to produce such
consoles would also be quite high (When
Sony first launched the PS3 the manufacturing costs amounted to roughly 800 USD per unit,
meaning Sony had to accept losses on each console sold. Now however they managed to reduce the
costs by 50%)8. Sony also holds an impressive portfolio of patents, which would make it hard for
any new comer to compete without making some sort of arrangement with Sony.9 Since the
PlayStation brand has been around for over fifteen years, Sony has the advantage of long –term
branding as well as high customer loyalty towards their brand.10 Therefore the threat of new
entrants is: Relatively Low.
Rivalry within Industry:
As there are currently three companies in the game –console market, the industry growth rate is
quite low, however now with the threat of mobile gaming , this rate has slowed down even more,
reaching a saturation point in 2009. 11

Business Strategies Of Sony Corporation
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to suggest investing in Sony Corporation, one of the most
recognized names in consumer electronics. "Sony was established shortly after World War Two in
the form of an electronic manufacturing company" (Sony). "Around the 1990s, Sony converted itself
from an electronics manufacturer to a global entertainment company establishing a leading position
in music, movies and computer gaming" (Sony Corporation Japan). With various sub–divisions of
the company Sony remains versatile, with each department bringing in revenue. "The divisions that
make up Sony includes Sony Electronics, Mobile Communications, Computer Entertainment,
Pictures Entertainment, Network Entertainment International, Music Entertainment, and Online
Entertainment" (Sony). Using top business strategies, and improving product quality, assists in the
persistent success of the company. These products appeal to wide range of consumers due to the
global diversity present at Sony. In this paper I will be discussing these topics in depth to help
support the reason why it would be beneficial to invest in Sony. Business Strategies Corporate
Governance Amongst Sony Corporations' business strategies lies corporate governance. Corporate
governance retains one of the more successful management strategies. These strategies allow
managers to define their roles and isolate the issues of ownership from management. As a result

demand for bigger and better gaming devices has been increasing. Now there are two major
companies in the gaming console scene, Microsoft and Sony, with there latest gaming consoles the
PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 1. Many people argue over witch of the consoles are better, and
I am here to prove that PlayStation 4 is better than Xbox 1.
One reason that the PlayStation 4 is better than the Xbox 1 is that the PlayStation 4 has better
graphic quality. according to a study conducted by the professional gaming company

720p and a fps rate of 60 on the Xbox 1 whilst on the PlayStation 4 it has a graphics rate of

better than the Xbox 1 is that the PlayStation 4 has a more compact and sleeker design compared to
the competitor (Xbox 1). Having a more compact design means that it is better for storage and for
travel for example if you
2 of 3 were to go onto a trip and you could only pack one console and games the best choice would
be to pack the PlayStation 4, not to mention while also being smaller it can hold the same amount of
data that the Xbox 1 can. ( 500 gigabytes.) A third reason that the PlayStation 4 is better than the
Xbox one is that it has more accessory's such as decal skins for your controller, the afterglow
headsets, and the extremely popular PlayStation VR ( virtual reality). The most popular of all of the
PlayStation accessories being the PlayStation VR headset which was released

Video Games And The Video Game
Some people may not know this, but there was a time when video games were not around. Like a lot
of things in the world that are distinctly human, video games were made out of a combination of
innovation, necessity, and curiosity. The early video game creators would be making something that
would seem clunky, and somewhat crude at first. But that would completely change in time by the

Marketing Analysis Of Sony Playstation 3
Introduction
I chose to conduct a marketing analysis on the Sony PlayStation 3 because it is a product that I am
very familiar with. I have been a PlayStation consumer since 1994 when the first PlayStation was
established. Therefore, since I am a frequent consumer of this product, I have gained some
knowledge of this product over time. When an individual is a frequent consumer of a certain
product, the consumer will eventually become aware or at least have some knowledge of the
marketing mix of that product. However, besides from being a dedicated consumer, I was also
involved in selling this product as a sales associate and this gave me some insight on the marketing
mix of this product. As a sales associate, I also received some training from marketers from the
Sony Corporation on how to position the PlayStation 3 in an electronics store. Furthermore, I feel
knowledgeable about this product due to the exposure that I have had with it.

Video Games Have A Huge Part Of Society
From Pac–Man to Call of Duty, video games have been a huge part of society. People will line up
hours before a midnight launch of a video game just so they can play it the night it gets released.
Video games aren't just a hobby they are a passion. People get immersed in fantasy worlds playing
Call of Duty or being a dragon slayer in dragon age or Elder Scrolls. Video games are about
accomplishment and competiveness. Xbox and PlayStation have built an empire on video games and
consoles because our society fell in love with them dating way back to the arcade Pac–Man and
Donkey Kong days. "Video game sales ($25 billion in 2011) continue to be the No. 1 form of
discretionary entertainment, outshining both movies and music" (USA,News 2015). Video games
are obviously nothing without the consoles you play them on. PlayStation and Xbox are the biggest
competitors in the video game market. The new consoles are virtually the same with a few small
differences. The difference between buying an Xbox one or a PlayStation 4 is mostly your history of
buying. Most PlayStation users have always had PlayStations and most Xbox users have always had
Xbox's. For a huge number of our society, playing video games is a lifestyle.
History In 1967 Ralph Baer invented the first video game that worked on a television screen. The
video game was a very simple game, consisting of two squares that chase each other on the screen.
However, this simple game paved the way for future video games and future

  • 1. History of the Sony Playstation Essay examples Playstation One of the biggest giants in the video game world today is Sony and their revolutionary Playstation. Right now their Playstation 3 is in circulation throughout the world, but prior to last year there was the original Playstation, and Playstation 2. This was the first video game system that used CD's as disks for their games, instead of the usual cartridges used by Nintendo, Sega, Atari, and many other companies. It started off as a collaboration with Sony and Nintendo in 1988 trying to create an extension to Nintendo's console Super Nintendo called the Super Disk, since most companies were about to start making systems that way, and it was also much cheaper to create. • 2. Analysis Of Video Game Consoles And The Two Companies 1) What are your group 's chosen IT market sector and TWO competing "public" companies that your group will base its ITMSA research? Why did you choose these two public companies? Please explain. My groups chosen IT market sector is video game consoles and the two companies we have chosen are Microsoft and Sony. We chose these two public companies because they are the largest ones when it comes to the creation of video games and video game consoles. Microsoft represents the Xbox series which is one of the largest game consoles in the world while Sony represents PlayStation which is also one of the largest game consoles in the world. We picked these companies because I knew we would be able to find a lot of information on them and they are heavy competitors with each other. 2) What are 3 key findings (facts, information) from your IT Market Sector research (not company research) you found using the IBISWorld business database that correspond to one or more of the topics in "Section 2: Market Sector Analysis" in your Google Doc? Cite your sources following APA. The first key finding I had on IBISWorld was the fact that annual growth in the video game market has grown by 4.0% (IBISWorld, 1). I also found that the video game publishing software employs over 103,000 individuals (IBISWorld, Software Publishing). The last key finding I had was that the social network game department has advanced heavily since its introduction to the systems (IBISWorld, Social Network). 3) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is done by describing the products different parts and possibilities and also dividing the product in to: the core product, the tangible product, augmented product and potential product. Sony and Microsoft try everything to meet the needs of the consumer and get people to buy their product. They have caused controversy among gamers for numerous years. The majority of articles state, "PS4 has been more popular compared to Xbox" (Feria). People like to argue which is better, but when choosing it is mostly a matter of opinion. Most gamers do not look at the statistics. The PlayStation 4 has continually outsold the Xbox One since their release (Elise). When researching, one can infer that the PlayStation 4 is a better choice than the Xbox One. Games First of all, all gamers have personal preferences, and quite a few favor PlayStation 4 games over Xbox One games. Each console has games that are limited to only them. Microsoft has been preparing new games, such as Titanfall, that are completely exclusive to the Xbox One (Feria). Sony is also going to launch new exclusive games in 2015 like Uncharted 4 and The Order (Feria). Since there are only a select few games that are exclusive, it makes it difficult to say which is better in this matter. Some users depend on the graphics of the games that are not exclusive to the consoles to decide between them. The graphics of the PlayStation 4's games often have a higher quality than those of the Xbox One. A user's opinion is the sole method in deciding between the consoles when it comes to games. Engaging in video games can release a lot of anger and depression/stress. For example, someone has no social skills;and don't really get out in public that much can increase that skill. But when that person gets online;and plays with all those players around the world and socializes with the realizing someone wants to be his/her friend;would make the day a brighter one. And providing information for the wrong system wouldn 't be wise especially towards beginners. Now we all know in the future there is going to be technology beyond our predictions, but learning how gaming works on a scientific level would be interesting. Like how some data in the memory cards Sony created for the playstation which happened to be small in size regarding storage and game usage. More scientific information I plan to learn is how graphics make video games come to life, and how much the AI or artificial intelligence in video games have more and more common sense than usual games. Designers who create and develop video games want the players to feel a videogame is real, which is why they decided to add vibration to the controllers for the systems. So if there was an explosion or if you where to reload your weapon it would vibrate indicating that real life experience. Although Sony who are the creators of Playstaion added sound to the controllers, which allowed gamers to have the feeling of being involved with the game on a personal level, because their game is talking to them. Every time a new system comes out I am always investigating all the details from small to big. But one thing I didn't really understand was the online downloading for games without buying the disc. Unlike this generation, I am used to buying the disc so I would be able to take it from place ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Threat of new Entrants: The possibility that there will be a new entrant into the game –console industry is quite unlikely, for many reasons. The technological know –how is quite high, and would require significant capital to invest into, in order to be able to compete with current competitors; the fixed costs to produce such consoles would also be quite high (When Sony first launched the PS3 the manufacturing costs amounted to roughly 800 USD per unit, meaning Sony had to accept losses on each console sold. Now however they managed to reduce the costs by 50%)8. Sony also holds an impressive portfolio of patents, which would make it hard for any new comer to compete without making some sort of arrangement with Sony.9 Since the PlayStation brand has been around for over fifteen years, Sony has the advantage of long –term branding as well as high customer loyalty towards their brand.10 Therefore the threat of new entrants is: Relatively Low. Rivalry within Industry: As there are currently three companies in the game –console market, the industry growth rate is quite low, however now with the threat of mobile gaming , this rate has slowed down even more, reaching a saturation point in 2009. 11 12

Now there are two major companies in the gaming console scene, Microsoft and Sony, with there latest gaming consoles the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 1. Many people argue over witch of the consoles are better, and I am here to prove that PlayStation 4 is better than Xbox 1. Another reason that the PlayStation 4 is better than the Xbox 1 is that the PlayStation 4 has a more compact and sleeker design compared to the competitor (Xbox 1). Having a more compact design means that it is better for storage and for travel for example if you 2 of 3 were to go onto a trip and you could only pack one console and games the best choice would be to pack the PlayStation 4, not to mention while also being smaller it can hold the same amount of data that the Xbox 1 can. ( 500 gigabytes.) A third reason that the PlayStation 4 is better than the Xbox one is that it has more accessory's such as decal skins for your controller, the afterglow headsets, and the extremely popular PlayStation VR ( virtual reality).
