Health Behavior Change Plan Essay
Behavior Change Plan Regina Martin This is a health behavioral change plan where I will prioritize
the Seven Dimensions of Wellness as they rank in my current life and includes a rationale and
details on why each category fell in particular spot when I rate it. The first dimension of health on
my list is physical but it has an emotional component. I rated this on the top of my list because I
have gained 26 pounds in about 3 years and 6–8 pounds have been in the past 6 months. I bought
new jeans before Christmas and they no longer fit me. To give context to how I arrived here I had
lost lots of weigh a few years ago but my brother died who is only 9 months older than me and more
people followed along with other severe stressors. I have always have been interested in health and

I researched this issue for an addictions project last semester and I've come to understand that food
can actually activate our dopamine receptors. Furthermore, people often have emotional triggers for
overeating. I think as a future health educator it's really important to understand that distinction and
be aware of the emotional causes for overeating and binge eating disorder. I rated emotional as
number two on my list because it is emotions that are driving my overeating. It's possible it should
be number one considering since it's the underlying cause the physical behavior I want to change. I
am aware that it's mostly anxiety that is making me overeat or aggravation by family. I'll have work
on find ways to deal with these stressors. I recently changed my study area due to lighting and other
comfort issues. The biggest plus to where I was studying it that was quiet and private. What the
change of area made me notice is that most of the time, when I start to have an uncomfortable
emotion I literally whip open the refrigerator which is about four feet away from where I am
studying. Previously I had to walk up steps to get to the kitchen which

Population-Focused Health Plan Paper
Population–Focused Health Plan Physical activity is a very important aspect of an individual's life.
There are many health benefits to being physically active. Living an active life helps to prevent and
lower the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, depression, and heart disease (Tuso,
2015). Healthy People 2020 (2018) states that about 80% of adults and adolescents do not meet the
physical activity guidelines. Staying active may be difficult if there are no community resources to
help. The intention of this paper is to implement interventions within Paulding County that will help
increase physical activity among community members. A community assessment in Paulding
County has been completed. From the assessment, it has been

When purchasing insurance it is extremely imperative that one assesses all of the benefits,
specifications, and details offered in order to choose the best plan in regards to deductibles, co–pays,
and coinsurance–just to name a few. Among the "Top Two" plans that I chose, if I was to purchase

it fulfills my healthcare needs the most. This specific plan only has a $500 deductible, full premium,
and $0 copay after the $500 dollar deductible for all of the services I currently use the most. In
addition, the estimated cost of this plan per month is $13.37.
Furthermore, for this plan there is no charge after the deductible for office visits to a primary doctor,
office visits to a specialist, visits to the emergency room, and visits to the urgent care facility; a $0
copay after deductible for brand and generic drugs, no charge for preventive care coverage, and a no
charge after deductible for outpatient surgery, imaging, and hospitalization. In addition, there is no
charge after deductible for laboratory work, X–Rays, and maternity coverage. Overall, this would be
the best plan for me because there are no co–pays and there is no charge after deductible for

The National Health Plan ( Nhp )
Italy is ranked as one of the most efficient health care systems across the globe as of 2014. Their
national healthcare service, also referred to as Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), was first created
in 1978 as a means to replace their previous healthcare system. Its mission was to produce an
efficient and uniform health system to cover the entire population regardless of income,
employment, or preexisting conditions (The National Health System [NHS], 2015). This newer
system was inspired by the British National Health service. The National Health Plan (NHP) is the
chief mechanism for national level health care development. Drafted by the Ministry of Health

Accountability for health care is collectively maintained by the state and the twenty regions across
the country according to the Italian Constitution (Donatini, 2013). The central government duties
include setting the fundamental principles and goals of the health system while also defining the
main benefit package of health services accessible to all citizens, whereas the regions are
accountable for establishing and administering primary, secondary, and tertiary health–care services
along with preventive and health promotion services (Ferre, 2014). The basic healthcare packages
are the "essential levels of care", or LEAs, that are set exclusively by the state. They must be
available to all residents throughout the country via local health units (LHUs). These LHUs are run
by a CEO selected by the governor of the region, and provide primary care, hospital care, public
health, occupational health, and social care (Donatini, 2013).They are in charge of promoting public
health and responsible for achieving health related objectives and targets determined by national and
regional planning. Each one has a division in charge of hygiene and public health, food control,
occupational disease and accidents, and veterinary medicine (Donatini, 2013).The state is also in
charge of guaranteeing the common goals and essential values of the national health care system are
continually being met (Ferre, 2014). The LEAs is defined in terms of both a positive and negative

Health Plan Survey Paper
The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Health Plan Survey is a
tool used to collect standardized information that analyzes the experience of enrollees' through
health plans and their services. The intent is to design a support system that assesses consumer's
performance with the health plans and it allows them to choose the plan that best suits their needs. It
was first launched in 1997 and has now become the national standard when it comes to both
determining and reporting the experiences of consumers through their health plan. Almost every
state conducts this form of standardization and sponsors within the U.S. include health plans, state
agencies who regulate health care, as well as federal agencies, such as the Department of Defense
and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The health plans are also able to examine the information gathered in order to use it to their
advantage by identifying their weaknesses to target areas of improvement and building on their
strengths to ensure efficiency. The Health Plan Survey 5.0 version is an example of a standardized
measurement system used so that questionnaires, other optional ... Show more content on

intervention plan for adults in our community with mental health disorders. This is a broad
definition to include many mental health issues from severe depression to schizophrenia to anxiety
disorders. The role of the volunteer within this area of healthcare is to support the staff while
providing companionship to the patients. There are several wards one may volunteer in within just
the General Hospital. However, I chose Adult Mental Health for personal interest and in order to

Following the theory of impression management, I found that I would put on a sort of mask as I
began my shift each week. But not only would I have a volunteering identity, I also found that I
would change myself to fit the needs of each patient I spoke with. For one person I was silly and
cheerful but for another I was quiet and patient. No two people are the same in the kind of friend
they need. Unlike friendships in everyday life, I was able to upkeep these facades since it was a
short time span. Furthermore, these friendships were able to be one sided, it was not important what
I might need from a friendship just what I could do to make these people's day slightly better even
for a moment. Similarly, the patients would try to show their best side whenever I was around. As
one lady described to me, "the nurses have seen me at my worst, but that doesn't mean you have to".
This brought me to the realization that I was not doing a service to these people by pretending to be
something I was not. I decided to begin treating all the people the same and with the respect the
deserve. Each person is having a hard time and is being constantly analyzed, they did not need me
for that. Once I began to act like myself, I began to connect with the people easier. I was at ease in
the environment and was able to have fun in my time

Consumer Driven Health Plans
Running head: THE DOWNFALLS OF CONSUMER–DRIVEN HEALTH PLANS
The Downfalls of Consumer–Driven Health Plans
Jamiee Coates
Professor Rhonda Bunce
July 27, 2008
Abstract
Healthcare today is a very important issue. Lack of health insurance can affect the health and
productivity of workers. Many people today do not have health insurance. Employment–based
health insurance is in high demand to retain employees. The high healthcare costs make it hard for
employers to offer employees quality health plans. The premiums for employers are increasing so
they are forced to opt for cost–saving health insurance plans. Consumer–driven health plans are on
the rise and have become an option for many employers.
The Downfalls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Employer contributions to these accounts are excluded from employees' taxable income and
individual contributions are tax deductible. (Contribution to HSAs) The amounts that are
contributed by the employers into the Health Savings Accounts for employees are treated as
employer–provided coverage for medical expenses. My class reading discuss that most of the Health
Savings Accounts have high deductibles. The deductibles have to be met first so this leaves the
employees with an out– of –pocket cost for their medical services. Numerous employees with high–
deductible plans may postpone medical care and end up with severe conditions that might have been
prevented. Consumer–driven health care plans and Health Savings Accounts might turn out to be
another cause for the rise of health care cost instead of the resolution. There is no federal law that
states that employers must offer employees health insurance benefits. Competitive requirements
have resulted in the offering of employee–based health insurance plans to employees. Since
employer–provided healthcare benefits are the major source of health insurance for most people for
most employees, it is recommended that employers understand what types of health insurance plans
their employees would like. Employers should really listen to better understand employee's health
care needs. They should offer a range of health plans that would fit all of their employees.
Employees would be able to

National Health Care Plan
National Health Care Plan
The original goal of the National Health Care Plan is to make coverage more secure for those that
have insurance and extend affordable coverage to the uninsured. This should lead to improved
healthcare quality and patient safety. Also, emphasize primary and preventive care linked with
community prevention services. Further, it is designed to reduce the growth of health care costs
while promoting high–value, effective care. Ensuring access to quality, culturally competent care,
including long–term services and supports for vulnerable populations and improved health care and
population health through meaningful use health information technology.
On March 23, 2010 the Affordable care act was created to make health care more affordable and
easily accessible to a wider range of Americans. The act puts individuals, small businesses, and
families in more control of their health care. This plan makes it so the individual has to pay out of
pocket expenses, known as co–pays. The National Health Care Plan is also known as ACA ... Show

Mental Health Treatment Plan
Veterans who have been deployed to combat and endured trauma display higher levels of emotional
distress and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (Yarvis, 2013). Moreover, the exposure to
traumatic events over the lifespan relates to issues that impact the individual by a wide range of
mental health problems (Briere & Scott, 2012). The VA offers a vast majority of mental health
services, however there are particular interventions that are not offered because there aren't enough
medical practitioners certified or exposed to certain therapies. With respect to the patient, this paper
will discuss an unsuccessful treatment plan that would have prospered had the veteran underwent an
alternative route of interventions. Although a medical team follows the veteran, her PTSD
symptoms continue to affect her day–to–day life.

We would all say all are mindful of the various health improvement plans to look over, however
how would we choose which one will satisfy our individual needs? There are numerous things to

Personal Statement On Health Improvement Plan
For the very first time in my life, I had executed a series of behavior changes in order to lose fifteen
pounds by this semester. I am pleased and more than grateful to see that my customized plan is
successful, and took effect in different aspects of my well–being. "I am not what happened to me, I
am what I choose to become", I believe this quote by Carl Jung encapsulated why my health
improvement plan would work – determination incorporated into a personalized plan. Hereinafter, I
would like to discuss in details what and why had my behavior changes improved both my short–
term and long–term health.
I followed the Copenhagen diet – a thirteen–day diet to lose weight and improve metabolism. I
started this diet on the start of semester, giving myself a week time to bid farewell to my ravenous
appetite, before disciplining myself to go through the diet. It was extremely difficult for the first few
days, I was constantly hungry and was craving for snacks between meals. I wasn't able to strictly
follow what is written on the menu, and I irresistibly ate between meals for several days when I was
famished. Fortunately, I had been able to resist the temptations of junk foods – foods containing
excessive calories, fat, sugar and salt. I only ate fruits or muesli when I was feeling hungry. These
acts of violation subsided completely on the fourth day, and I started to get use to a reduced daily
calorie intake. Throughout this thirteen days, I generally had a steady loss of one pound

Health Plan For The Prevention Of Illness
Illness Prevention Should Johnny or Jane receive their flu shot when the next flu season
approaches? The answer depends upon your view of preventative care. There are very few issues on
which all citizens agree and unfortunately, preventative healthcare is not one of them.. Programs
which prevent disease have yielded significant benefits which include: increasing lifespans,
improving many aspects of life , as well as increasing the society's potential (Kongstvedt, 2013).
Preventing illness is a powerful as well as profitable tool for use in improving the health of our
citizens. Yet, all individuals are not in agreement with encouraging preventative health care.
Views Against Involvement in the Prevention of Illness There are various arguments individuals
possess supporting their view against the prevention of illness. One argument is that health plans
must select which services they deem preventative and will offer and which they will not . If an
individual has a family history of breast cancer, for example, yet genetic testing is not considered
preventative by their health plan they have received no benefit. Also, the benefits of preventive care
are not universal. Individuals who were continuously insured had no reduction in their level of risk
for preventive illnesses over a 2 year period (Gohmann, McCrickard & Stevenson, 2013).
Apparently having preventive services available does not indicate that the population who has
access will use or benefit from the

The Lakeside Health Plan
Overview The first 6 months of the Lakeside Health Plan's costs have run above both the prior
year's spend and expected budget. An increase in unforeseen large claimant activity from
dependents is contributing to this overestimated spend. Although this year's plan spend through the
first 6 months is higher than anticipated, the past several years for the Lakeside plan saw reduced
cost and surpluses to budget. For the 2014/2015 plan year, the Lakeside Health Plan budgeted an
$11,879 PEPY cost. The year finished at $11,236 PEPY or $132,236 below budget. Medical claims
were –3.1% below the prior year, and RX spend was a 14.1% increase; changes were made to the
2015/2016 plan year to counter the increased drug spend. The plan saw large reductions in large
claimant spend due to both stop loss negotiations resulting in the removal of lasers and
DialysisPPO. During the 2013/2014 plan year, the health plan total cost ended almost 25% below
the expected budget. Net paid claims were down –7.4% or $447,827 over the budget. On a PEPY
basis, Lakeside had budgeted a $14,995 net cost per employee. The plan year ended at an $11,301
PEPY cost or $676,350 below the expected total cost. This was largely due to a large claimant with
$250,000 exposure in the form of a laser coming off the plan with only $46k in claims. Stop loss
reimbursements dropped 35%, which helped to secure a 3% total renewal. Lakeside also heavily

Health Plan Recap My health plan was constructed while keeping my own specific health profile in
mind. As a mother of six, and one who developed on autoimmune disease, Dermatomyositis, seven
years ago, I confront problems which others developing their own plans may not. The disease,
which was successfully treated, nonetheless left a residue of chronic pain and fatigue, as well as
depression, symptoms which were partnered with Primary Biliary Cholangitis, another autoimmune
disease I was diagnosed with in 2015. This disease has resulted in additional pain. During the last
few years of struggling with these illnesses, I have added some extra weight. Despite the above
difficulties, I plan to exercise, eat better and reduce both my weight and my Body Mass Index. Not
taking action is not an option, as a Life Check Assessment test I took scored me at just 5.7 out of 10,
and described my health as one that was as at risk for diabetes and other problems. All research
indicates that a clean, healthy, low–sodium diet, and regular exercise, would be a major boost to my
health, and might even help in the battle against the autoimmune issues I am currently engaged with.

Obama Care : The Health Plan
Obama care
Many people wants to know why health care is so important. People do not plan on getting hurt or
even sick but life those type of things happen unfortunately. I feel like people should and need
medical care health insurance at some time in their life. Having health care insurance help to pay for
cost and even offers many benefits that most Americans people would need. People who do not have
health insurance will pay and or even spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on medical bills
that most health insurance will cover. Not having health care insurance can lead to bankruptcy and
or even debt that can be really hard to get out of. Having health coverage can be essential to life that
many people do not know about. I really do feel like the Obama Affordable care act is the health
plan that many people should have. Throughout this paper I will give many facts on why Obama
care is beneficially to all Americans.
Many people heard of Obama Care, but people really do not know what Obama Care is exactly.
Obama Care which is also known as the Affordable Care Act is a United State law which is aimed
towards bettering and or reforming the health care system for all Americans. When I did my
research I found out that the Obama Care's main focus "is on providing more Americans with
accessible and affordable healthcare insurance, which would help improve the health care and health
insurance policy". March 23, 2013 was the date that Obama Care was first signed into law by

Health Plan For Increase Expenditure
There are a number of products and initiatives being used by health plans to control expenditures
and maintain market competitiveness. Recent slowing in health expenditures has largely been due to
price changes, a shift from inpatient to outpatient care, and increased coverage. However, here I will
focus on operational changes within the health plan that can be made to decrease expenditures. I
will discuss how investing in disease management programs, wellness incentives, and value–based
insurance design now can be used to control rising healthcare expenditures in the future while
adding value for consumers. I will also discuss the challenges involved with implementing these
initiatives.
Disease Management Programs:
Background
A small portion of the patient population accounts for a disproportionate amount of health care
expenditures primarily due to chronic illness (Shelton, 2002). Because of this, and the overall rise in
healthcare costs, stakeholders have been searching for ways to target this small but expensive group
of people. One way is through disease management programs. It is a common belief that education
and preventive measures make it easier to manage chronic illness and reduce adverse outcomes
including lengthy hospitalizations (Shelton, 2002). Although these programs are fairly new and
there isn't much data to support or refute their success, this is an area worth exploring to potentially
curve skyrocketing healthcare expenditures.

Personal Health Improvement Plan
Personal Health Improvement Plan Background In early January of 2016, I embarked on a new
challenge to improve my overall health. Looking back in the past 4 years, I know that I have always
found myself happiest when I was regularly exercising. Exercising decreased my anxiety and
depression and overall I was in a great mood. The idea behind setting up this challenge was that I
wanted to challenge myself to get to my old self, where I had an overall positive energy. I set a goal
that in the next 4 months, I wanted to lose 10 pounds. The pounds was a measurement to see about
the intensity of the workout, so I wanted to challenge myself a little bit more than just going out for
runs. Since I know that medical school is a very busy place, I figure that I would be able commit to
run at least 5 days per week. Methods I would lose 10 pounds by running at least 5 times per week.
The progress and the success of this goal would be measured based on how much weight I lose as I
get toward the end of the 4 months' time period. This was an attainable goal, since I have had
previous experience in running. Running is important to me because overall it improves not just my
weight but also my moods and gives me overall peace. At the start of the project this was very

expectation of 10 pounds by altering my diets. So now I include more vegetables, eat 3 times and
snake in between per meal. I have been trying to improve my mood by sleeping more, which means
basically getting 8 hours per night. But once exams have settled down I am hoping to pick up my

this paper I will provide my understanding on why I feel Clinton's Health Plan was unsuccessful. I
will discuss the features of Clinton's health care reform plan and provide my reasons I feel it failed.
I will also discuss the influences of the various interests groups and governmental entities that were
present during this process. Lastly I will discuss the policy process and policy environment key
players that were involved and the other circumstances that shaped this policy–making effort. When
President Clinton was elected in 1992 he was given the task to design a health care reform proposal
that provided health care benefits for all Americans. When Clinton was elected the country was
suffering from setbacks in the realm of healthcare polices from the previous president. With
congress being one of the key players they started to develop plans that would provide universal
health coverage ideas with: physicians, large businesses, lawmakers, and many interest groups.
When all this started to occur Clinton felt that the majority of the public who were in favor of
healthcare reform, he made healthcare a primary weapon in his election campaigns. With him

TRICARE Health Plans is the replacement for CHAMPUS which was the provider of health care
services for military dependents. TRICARE not only replaced CHAMPUS but its purpose was also
to facilitate members with access to better health care. Unfortunately, TRICARE has gone through
many changes and upheavals since its inception in 1997. First, they began by dividing the company
into regions. Each member was placed into a region based on where the military member was
stationed. If the member was stationed in Maryland then his family belonged to the East Region.
Unfortunately, there were many problems with this plan. First, some military members and their
families did not live in the same regions. Therefore, the families either had to travel ... Show more

TRICARE has had many learning curves to overcome. In the beginning, the contractors were not
prepared to handle the amount of members that serve the United States Military. Also, they were
unprepared for the multitude of health issues that were plaguing the families. One such issue was
the Gulf War Syndrome which the United States Government was attempting to cover up. Over the
years, their service to members has improved but has a long way to go in order to compete with
some of the private health insurance plans that are available. Many families who have major health
issues find it more convenient to pay for private health insurance. This also allows for those families
to get care without going through the bureaucracy and red tape that surrounds TRICARE 's policies.
However, not all has been lost. TRICARE is striving to succeed in providing optimal care for their
members. They have taken the initiative to enact new policies and benefits that allow for members
to see many private and local physicians and dentists. This has had a great impact on how
TRICARE is being perceived not only by their members but also the surrounding communities.

Health Plan For A Healthy Lifestyle
Throughout the past two years of health class, I have learned that a healthy lifestyle is the key to
living a long life. Although the class focuses on general ideas, it 's still teaches that each individual
student should have a different health plan, as they each come from different backgrounds. One's
health plan would be based off their family history with injury, illness, and disease. When creating
my health plan, I took into consideration how my grandmother (on my mother's side) died of breast
cancer, my grandfather (on my mother's side) has developed Huntington's disease, and my
grandfather (on my father 's side) had Parkinson 's disease. To reduce the chances of developing any
of these diseases, I must take into consideration different healthcare options, nutrition plans,
physical activity regimens, stress factors, environmental factors, and be aware of what I use as a
consumer.
It is estimated that about 12% of women will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. Your
chances of this are even more increased if a family member has been diagnosed with the disease.
So, if someone in your family has had the cancer, it is recommended you live a cautious lifestyle.
This is how I will have to live, as my grandmother died of breast cancer. She was diagnosed twice,
after thinking she had beaten the cancer once. The second time it developed, it metastasized into her
lymph nodes, killing her. To avoid the same fate, I will have to make sure to live the healthiest

Health Behavior Change Plan Essay

  • 1. Health Behavior Change Plan Essay Behavior Change Plan Regina Martin This is a health behavioral change plan where I will prioritize the Seven Dimensions of Wellness as they rank in my current life and includes a rationale and details on why each category fell in particular spot when I rate it. The first dimension of health on my list is physical but it has an emotional component. I rated this on the top of my list because I have gained 26 pounds in about 3 years and 6–8 pounds have been in the past 6 months. I bought new jeans before Christmas and they no longer fit me. To give context to how I arrived here I had lost lots of weigh a few years ago but my brother died who is only 9 months older than me and more people followed along with other severe stressors. I have always have been interested in health and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I researched this issue for an addictions project last semester and I've come to understand that food can actually activate our dopamine receptors. Furthermore, people often have emotional triggers for overeating. I think as a future health educator it's really important to understand that distinction and be aware of the emotional causes for overeating and binge eating disorder. I rated emotional as number two on my list because it is emotions that are driving my overeating. It's possible it should be number one considering since it's the underlying cause the physical behavior I want to change. I am aware that it's mostly anxiety that is making me overeat or aggravation by family. I'll have work on find ways to deal with these stressors. I recently changed my study area due to lighting and other comfort issues. The biggest plus to where I was studying it that was quiet and private. What the change of area made me notice is that most of the time, when I start to have an uncomfortable emotion I literally whip open the refrigerator which is about four feet away from where I am studying. Previously I had to walk up steps to get to the kitchen which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many health benefits to being physically active. Living an active life helps to prevent and lower the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, depression, and heart disease (Tuso, 2015). Healthy People 2020 (2018) states that about 80% of adults and adolescents do not meet the physical activity guidelines. Staying active may be difficult if there are no community resources to help. The intention of this paper is to implement interventions within Paulding County that will help increase physical activity among community members. When purchasing insurance it is extremely imperative that one assesses all of the benefits, specifications, and details offered in order to choose the best plan in regards to deductibles, co–pays, and coinsurance–just to name a few. Among the "Top Two" plans that I chose, if I was to purchase health insurance today I would choose the United Healthcare Silver Compass H.S.A. 3600 plan, as it fulfills my healthcare needs the most. This specific plan only has a $500 deductible, full premium, and $0 copay after the $500 dollar deductible for all of the services I currently use the most. In addition, the estimated cost of this plan per month is $13.37. Furthermore, for this plan there is no charge after the deductible for office visits to a primary doctor, office visits to a specialist, visits to the emergency room, and visits to the urgent care facility; a $0 copay after deductible for brand and generic drugs, no charge for preventive care coverage, and a no charge after deductible for outpatient surgery, imaging, and hospitalization. In addition, there is no charge after deductible for laboratory work, X–Rays, and maternity coverage. Their national healthcare service, also referred to as Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), was first created in 1978 as a means to replace their previous healthcare system. Its mission was to produce an efficient and uniform health system to cover the entire population regardless of income, employment, or preexisting conditions (The National Health System [NHS], 2015). Accountability for health care is collectively maintained by the state and the twenty regions across the country according to the Italian Constitution (Donatini, 2013). The central government duties include setting the fundamental principles and goals of the health system while also defining the main benefit package of health services accessible to all citizens, whereas the regions are accountable for establishing and administering primary, secondary, and tertiary health–care services along with preventive and health promotion services (Ferre, 2014). Almost every state conducts this form of standardization and sponsors within the U.S. include health plans, state agencies who regulate health care, as well as federal agencies, such as the Department of Defense and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Unlike friendships in everyday life, I was able to upkeep these facades since it was a short time span. Furthermore, these friendships were able to be one sided, it was not important what I might need from a friendship just what I could do to make these people's day slightly better even for a moment. Similarly, the patients would try to show their best side whenever I was around. As one lady described to me, "the nurses have seen me at my worst, but that doesn't mean you have to". This brought me to the realization that I was not doing a service to these people by pretending to be something I was not. Consumer Driven Health Plans Running head: THE DOWNFALLS OF CONSUMER–DRIVEN HEALTH PLANS The Downfalls of Consumer–Driven Health Plans Jamiee Coates Professor Rhonda Bunce July 27, 2008 Abstract Healthcare today is a very important issue. Lack of health insurance can affect the health and productivity of workers. Many people today do not have health insurance. Employment–based health insurance is in high demand to retain employees. The high healthcare costs make it hard for employers to offer employees quality health plans. The premiums for employers are increasing so they are forced to opt for cost–saving health insurance plans. Consumer–driven health plans are on the rise and have become an option for many employers. The Downfalls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employer contributions to these accounts are excluded from employees' taxable income and individual contributions are tax deductible. (Contribution to HSAs) The amounts that are contributed by the employers into the Health Savings Accounts for employees are treated as employer–provided coverage for medical expenses. My class reading discuss that most of the Health Savings Accounts have high deductibles. The deductibles have to be met first so this leaves the employees with an out– of –pocket cost for their medical services. Numerous employees with high– deductible plans may postpone medical care and end up with severe conditions that might have been prevented. Consumer–driven health care plans and Health Savings Accounts might turn out to be another cause for the rise of health care cost instead of the resolution. There is no federal law that states that employers must offer employees health insurance benefits. Competitive requirements have resulted in the offering of employee–based health insurance plans to employees. Since employer–provided healthcare benefits are the major source of health insurance for most people for most employees, it is recommended that employers understand what types of health insurance plans their employees would like. Employers should really listen to better understand employee's health care needs. They should offer a range of health plans that would fit all of their employees. Employees would be able to ... • 17. Personal Statement On Health Improvement Plan For the very first time in my life, I had executed a series of behavior changes in order to lose fifteen pounds by this semester. I am pleased and more than grateful to see that my customized plan is successful, and took effect in different aspects of my well–being. "I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become", I believe this quote by Carl Jung encapsulated why my health improvement plan would work – determination incorporated into a personalized plan. Hereinafter, I would like to discuss in details what and why had my behavior changes improved both my short– term and long–term health. I followed the Copenhagen diet – a thirteen–day diet to lose weight and improve metabolism. I started this diet on the start of semester, giving myself a week time to bid farewell to my ravenous appetite, before disciplining myself to go through the diet. It was extremely difficult for the first few days, I was constantly hungry and was craving for snacks between meals. I wasn't able to strictly follow what is written on the menu, and I irresistibly ate between meals for several days when I was famished. Fortunately, I had been able to resist the temptations of junk foods – foods containing excessive calories, fat, sugar and salt. I only ate fruits or muesli when I was feeling hungry. These acts of violation subsided completely on the fourth day, and I started to get use to a reduced daily calorie intake. Throughout this thirteen days, I generally had a steady loss of one pound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Health Plan For The Prevention Of Illness Illness Prevention Should Johnny or Jane receive their flu shot when the next flu season approaches? The answer depends upon your view of preventative care. There are very few issues on which all citizens agree and unfortunately, preventative healthcare is not one of them.. Programs which prevent disease have yielded significant benefits which include: increasing lifespans, improving many aspects of life , as well as increasing the society's potential (Kongstvedt, 2013). Preventing illness is a powerful as well as profitable tool for use in improving the health of our citizens. Yet, all individuals are not in agreement with encouraging preventative health care. Views Against Involvement in the Prevention of Illness There are various arguments individuals possess supporting their view against the prevention of illness. One argument is that health plans must select which services they deem preventative and will offer and which they will not . If an individual has a family history of breast cancer, for example, yet genetic testing is not considered preventative by their health plan they have received no benefit. Also, the benefits of preventive care are not universal. Individuals who were continuously insured had no reduction in their level of risk for preventive illnesses over a 2 year period (Gohmann, McCrickard & Stevenson, 2013). Apparently having preventive services available does not indicate that the population who has access will use or benefit from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An increase in unforeseen large claimant activity from dependents is contributing to this overestimated spend. Although this year's plan spend through the first 6 months is higher than anticipated, the past several years for the Lakeside plan saw reduced cost and surpluses to budget. For the 2014/2015 plan year, the Lakeside Health Plan budgeted an $11,879 PEPY cost. The year finished at $11,236 PEPY or $132,236 below budget. Medical claims were –3.1% below the prior year, and RX spend was a 14.1% increase; changes were made to the 2015/2016 plan year to counter the increased drug spend. The plan saw large reductions in large claimant spend due to both stop loss negotiations resulting in the removal of lasers and DialysisPPO. During the 2013/2014 plan year, the health plan total cost ended almost 25% below the expected budget. Net paid claims were down –7.4% or $447,827 over the budget. On a PEPY basis, Lakeside had budgeted a $14,995 net cost per employee. The plan year ended at an $11,301 PEPY cost or $676,350 below the expected total cost. This was largely due to a large claimant with $250,000 exposure in the form of a laser coming off the plan with only $46k in claims. Stop loss reimbursements dropped 35%, which helped to secure a 3% total renewal. Lakeside also heavily invested in the plan, implementing both Healics' coaching, increased ... Recent slowing in health expenditures has largely been due to price changes, a shift from inpatient to outpatient care, and increased coverage. Because of this, and the overall rise in healthcare costs, stakeholders have been searching for ways to target this small but expensive group of people. Although the class focuses on general ideas, it 's still teaches that each individual student should have a different health plan, as they each come from different backgrounds. One's health plan would be based off their family history with injury, illness, and disease. When creating my health plan, I took into consideration how my grandmother (on my mother's side) died of breast cancer, my grandfather (on my mother's side) has developed Huntington's disease, and my grandfather (on my father 's side) had Parkinson 's disease. To reduce the chances of developing any of these diseases, I must take into consideration different healthcare options, nutrition plans, physical activity regimens, stress factors, environmental factors, and be aware of what I use as a consumer. It is estimated that about 12% of women will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. Your chances of this are even more increased if a family member has been diagnosed with the disease.
