 The level of cycling in London is low
compared to other European cities
 Amsterdam – 28%
 Copenhagen – 20%
 Munich – 12%
 Berlin – 5%

5. Key Stats
 Currently 450,000 cycle trips a day. Saw
a dramatic spike after 7/7 terrorist
attacks, then normalised at higher level.
 Cycle trips up 87% since 2001
 Casualty rates down 50% (from ’00 levels with a
slight up-turn in serious or killed: 2003 ~ 2006 Crash Stats: 7752,
Slight, 1115 Serious, 46 Fatal) speeds up in CCZ
 Target - 80% increase by 2010 achieved!
 New Target - 200% increase by 2020
