Coniferous/Boreal Forest
Coniferous trees never
loose their leaves. These
forests grow across the
top of North America and
Europe.
Types of tree that grow
there include Spruce, Fir,
Pine, Birch, Willow.
The trees are used to
make paper, newspapers,
house building and
furniture making.

Temperate Forest
Temperate forests are mainly
made of deciduous trees
(trees that lose their leaves in
winter). Some trees that grow
there are Oak, Maple, Beech
and Elm. Today temperate
forests are only twenty five
percent of their original size
due to deforesting. This due
to humans cutting down the
trees to use and to make
more room to live.

Tropical Forest
The Rainforests of South America
and Africa cover approximately
6% of the earths surface. This
percentage is falling, because of
deforesting (people cutting down
the trees to use or make more
room). These forests are not
always well managed which
means that wood is taken faster
than it can grow back. In these
forests you find exotic woods like
Mahogany, Teak, Rosewood,
Balsa or Sandalwood.
