Attila was the last and most powerful leader of the nomadic Hun people from 395 to 453 AD. The Huns were nomadic hunters and herders who did not practice agriculture or industry. Attila invaded Italy in search of new lands, defeating Roman armies, but agreed to withdraw after meeting with Pope Leo I. After Attila's death in 453 from a nosebleed on his wedding night, the Hun Empire quickly disintegrated as there was no strong successor and subject peoples revolted, leading to the disappearance of the Huns from history.
