2. The White Stripes
The White Stripes
formed in 1997 and
had many years of
very stylised fame up
until 2011.
The group, as its name
suggests, had a strong
novelty that was
sticking to the bold
colour pallet of red
white and black. This
idea they got from the
confectionery the
Peppermint Swirl.
3. The White Stripes
There look connotes a reflection
of there music. The band
famously keep away from being
put into one conventional box
and do this is in a childish/twee
fashion. The many images they
use to advertise also,
collaboratively show the style of
voice that the lead singer, Jack
White has as there is a mixture
of alternative rock, blues,
country and punk. The use of
the pearly king and queen show
the country/ blues side and the
long back hair shows the
alternative rock, for example.
4. The White Stripes
Seven Nation Army is the most well
know of any of The White Stripes
singles. It was realised in 2003 and
won 2004's Grammy Award for
Best Rock Song. The music video,
directed by Alex And Martin, also
sticks to The White Stripes iconic
image with a black white and red
kaleidoscopic tunnel of triangles
and images of the artists Jack
White and Meg White. The
triangles speed up and slow down
with the tempo of the song. This
Music video also connotes the style
of the band with its alternative
stylised chic and almost punk like
chaos.
5. The White Stripes
The Hardest Button to Button was another one
of The White Stripes more popular of work
(famously used in an episode of the Simpsons).
It was realised in 2003 as a single. This was the
third ever White Stripes video to be made,
directed by Michel Gondry. The music video
was created using pixilation animation to make
the effect of many drum kits and amplifiers
multiplying to the rhythm of the song as Jack
and Meg perform it. There is also a short
cameo of Beck (the artist) at 2:25. The song
shows again there diverse and personalised
style. Jack White and Meg White, also sporting
there red, white and black costumes, have
instruments with the signature red white and
black; mainly the bass drum with the
peppermint swirl painted on it.
