Editor's Notes

  • #2 This presentation is based on the content of Dr. Talisayon’s book entitled Filipino Values: Determinants of Philippine Future It emphasize the idea of using Values as a tool to determined possible outcome or to predict an effect from an existing scenario Or a way to understand our reactions to scenarios or problems we are facing.
  • #3 When we say values in our own language we refer to “mabuting asal” “ang magiging dapat maging ugali o aksyon” “katanggap –tanggap na asal sa lipunan.
  • #4 And so Enriquez claims that values has no exact Filipino translation, and suggests the use of paninindigan instead. So when we say Filipino values it would mean Filipinos intetntion OUR PREAMBLE manifest our principles or convictions as a state.
  • #5 Before we enumerate some core Filipino values, let us reflect or evaluate ourselves silently on the following issues. Our responses or reactions will all be based on what believe is right and based on what we value most. And so These questions can have almost definite answers through social forecasting.
  • #6 In interpreting, predicting or analysing outcome based on gathered information regarding on what is common in relation to what is norm or perceived as accepted behaviour in a society is called SOCIAL FORECASTING.
  • #7 The following is perceived as our strengths
  • #8 And these are perceived as our weak values or considered as factors which hinders the success of our intention.
  • #10 Filipinos are being polite
  • #11 American dream Relatives who will can go abroad or living abroad is synonymous to success.
  • #14 The fondness of making connections to popular people.
  • #16 Maybe that is also the main reason why we expect much from the government. We respect government only if their duties to take care of what we need is provided. Maybe that is also the main reason why Filipinos find it easy to blame the government and find it difficult to take part
  • #17 We belong We feel confident once an elected person is related to you …
  • #23 Applicable to some countries and to us will not…
