Jake Blaylock has worked for me for the last two months through the summer intern
program sponsored by Glanbia Foods Inc. Jake came to our Cheese and Whey processing
facility in Gooding Idaho for some hands on experience as part of his studies in the Food Science
degree that he is pursuing.
Jake has a great attitude in that he is willing to do anything that is asked of him. Jake was
able to work on Focused Improvement teams at our facility and performed work in identifying
root cause to a number of quality issues that the facility experienced while he was here. Jake
was always willing to go above and beyond expectations and was always eager to take on
whatever he could to help out.
Jake had various opportunities to review Food Safety programs and documentation. He
was able to learn aseptic sampling techniques and was exposed to HACCP programs and
documentation. Jake also conducted food safety and GMP audits throughout the plant
identifying deficiencies and worked to drive improvements.
Jake also took part in a week long “Boot Camp” activity where he was able to learn and
apply TPM (Total Process Maintenance) principles, and tools to identify a loss in a system and
apply a solution to eliminate the loss.
Jake has a “go do” attitude and is motivated in all that he does. He consistently
demonstrated openness to new ideas and applied what he learned to his daily activities.
I would be more than happy to have Jake come and work with us here at Glanbia after his
schooling is complete and I know that he would be a valuable asset to any organization that
brought him on board.
