Classification on difference of genetically modified and organic foods that are commonly found in the market
1. CLASSIFICATION ON DIFFERENCE
OF GENETICALLY MODIFIED AND
ORGANIC FOODS THAT ARE
COMMONLY FOUND IN THE
MARKET

2. Introduction
GMO’s are plants, animals or microorganisms
in which their genetic makeup has been
modified through the use of modern
biotechnology.
Organic food is produced without the use of
most conventional pesticides, fertilizers
made with synthetic ingredients or sewage
sludge, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation.
3. Most people are not conscious
whether the food products they usually
buy on the market are GMO or were
made organic.
4. Significance of the study
The purpose of the study is to
test the people’s awareness on
the classification of goods they
usually buy in the market and
their knowledge about GMOs.
5. Scope
Testing people’s knowledge on the
difference between organic and GMO’s.
Limitation
Their relationship on other types, such
as conventional and non-gmo, are
beyond the limits of this study.
7. Modern biotechnology, gene technology
or genetic engineering allows a specific
individual fees to be transferred from an
organism to another non-related species.
Foods that are produced from this
process or using GMO’s are referred to as
GM foods.(WHO 2014)
8. GM crops comes with lower price,
greater durability and more
nutrition value and are safe and
healthier than organic
foods.(Ruishalme, 2010)
9. According to the Nat’l Organic program,
foods are only labeled organic if grown
by certified organic producers and
processors who don’t use synthetic
fertilizers and pesticides, and GM
seeds.(Paarlberg, 2010)
11. Participants
Thirty respondents in each set-up from
market area, school and random will be
selected randomly. In this case the
researchers will use probability sampling
12. Research Design
The type of qualitative study that the
researchers will conduct, particularly the
descriptive research, will test the
people’s awareness on Genetically
Modified Organisms that are usually
found in the market.
