Tip #1 - The Left-Hand Rail
Tip 1.1
The order of the icons on the rail can be re-arranged to suit your
personal preference. Just drag and drop to change their position on the
list.
Tip 1.2
Use Cmd (on a Mac), or Cntrl (on a PC) plus a single-digit number, to jump
from one of these icons to the next. Cmd-1 will put you into the top item on
the list, Activity by default. Cntrl-2 will be the second item and so on

To pin an app to the rail, like Kippa, here:
Click More “…” at the bottom of the icons…
Find the app
Option click it and select Pin

Tip #2 - The Teams Panel
Tip 2.1
You can reorder the list of Teams to suit in the same way as the icons.
Just drag a Team to change its position on the list
Tip 2.2
To change the order of the channels within a Team, use the More menu
next to the channel’s right edge; the “…”.
Tip 2.3
You can hide a channel using this same … menu. The Hide option is the
top one. Hidden channels are shown in the Teams Panel, like this:
Then select Pin. When you click, the channel will move to the top of the Teams
Panel and remain there, looking now like a Team rather than a Channel.

Tip #3 - Shortcuts

To see all of the available shortcuts, type Cmd or Cntrl plus “.”

Use Cmd / or Cntrl / to get a list of available search bar commands

Tip #4 - Direct Messages
Tip 4.1
To send a message directly to a person, type “@“ into the search bar at the top of the page, select the
appropriate @mention from the popup list, and then enter the message directly after the prompt in the search
bar.

Tip #5 - Whiteboard
Tip 5.1
Add a whiteboard to your meeting in the same way you share your
screen

Great Whiteboard! Select marker styles and colours, add shapes, text and
more!
Tip 5.4
Limitations:
i) Only available in meetings, not calls
ii) Cannot save the board

Produce a PNG of the board at any time

Tip #6 - Instant Polls
Tip 6.1
Create an instant poll in a chat by using Microsoft Forms. Start a new
conversation in the channel and click on the More Option, “…”
Tip 6.2
Forms is visible in the message bar’s extensions—the last icon in the row.
To pin Forms, to the bar, click “…”, find Forms, and then option click it to
select Pin. Option click the icon to unpin it.
Type in your question, chose answers, and how you want to share
results…
When you click save you get a preview…
When you click send, your Poll is published in the channel…

Tip #7 - PowerPoint Presentations
Tip 7.1
If you open the PowerPoint app in a window and share that, your
presentation drowns in chrome. And if you use full screen, you can’t see
the chats, and you can’t see if people raise their hand…
Tip 7.2
Use PowerPoint Live. Click on Share and then scroll down to PowerPoint
live. Browse Onedrive or your computer. Select your presentation.
Tip 7.3
To use the PowerPoint app directly, use the Slide Show pivot to
select Setup Slideshow.
Then select Browsed by an Individual (window)
Start your slideshow
Size the window
Share, but pick the window option, and choose PowerPoint!
The live streaming display appears, and then your presentation opens.
Viewers see only the top window, not the thumbnails on the bottom or
your notes.

Tip #8 - Emails to…
Tip 8.1
To a channel:
Select the channel in the Teams Panel on the left-hand side
Click the “…” more options
Select Get email address
Click copy
Paste the address into a new email, compose your message
Click Send in the usual way.

To a person
Hover cursor over message and click the “…” more options
Select Share to Outlook

Click on the first icon on the left - the “A, and pencil”

You get the expanded dialog showing the RTF Options. Type
your message, select the characters you want to format and click
on the option you want.
