2. • A long time ago, the
people in Luarca were
scared of a pirate
called Cambaral, who
was a thief and a
murder who lived in
the Cantabric sea.
• Cambaral stole fish
from the fishermen,
and people in Asturias
were hungry, so the
Luarca´s Mayor
decided to tend him a
trap.
3. • He hid with a bunch of warriors in a fisherman´s ship
and they waited until Cambaral appeared to steal the
fish.
• When this happened, they started a very big battle where
many people get hurt. Even Cambaral received a lot of
damage.
• The Luarca´s Mayor took Cambaral, fatally injured to a
prison on a tower. He wanted him to be executed.
• Cambaral was suffering very much. His wounds were so
big and deep. He couldn´t move.
4. • But the Mayor´s
daughter was feeling
guilty and she asked
for permission to heal
the pirate´s wounds,
even knowing he was
going to be executed
in a few days. She
visited him every day
to heal his body and
give him water. With
the time, they fell in
love.
• The Mayor´s
daughter didn´t want
Cambaral to die, so
she told him that she
had a plan to escape
5. • The night before the execution, she brought
poisoned breads to the guards and they fell
asleep. She took the keys of the prison and
opened the door. Then, Cambaral and her, ran
away. But one of the guards didn´t ate the
poisoned bread and he called the Mayor to let
him know what happened. The Mayor was angry
and he decided to follow his daughter and the
pirate.
• He thought that his daughter was betraying him.
6. • The two lovers, ran as fast as they could until
they reach the beach. There, there was a little
boat that they were going to use to sail far away.
• They started kissing because they were feeling
happy. Finally they could escape.
• But that wasn´t the end. The Mayor was in the
beach too and he saw them kissing. He thought
they were evil, even his daughter, and with a fast
movement, he cut off their heads.
• The heads roll down, sinking in the water, while
the bodies fell down, still holding each other.
7. • A little girl saw everything. She told her mother, and
her mother to other person, until everyone in Luarca
knew the story. They felt guilty. Everyone of them
knew how beautiful is love, so they built a bridge in
the beach.
• The bridge represents the path to someone´s heart.
• Nowadays, if you go there, you still can hear the lovers
voices, whispering love words.
