2. They are human beings. They are beautiful maidens that are brought to the elemental world by
having some strange quality to our understanding. Usually their mission is to guard the treasures of
the caves, along with the fearsome Cuélebre (huge snake with wings).
They are beautiful, but less than Xanas. Its beauty is earth without anything diabolic. In short, they
belong to the group of enchanted women forced to live in mysterious full palaces of great
wealth, kept by horrifying cuélebres.
The Ayalga also is believed to be a delighted woman living in the ruins of ancient palaces or in
dark caves, prisoner of cuélebres and lives consumed in its sadness, victim of incantations. Its
existence is tied to the traditions of the night of San Juan. The Ayalga, using the lethargy of
Cuélebres that night, men manifests as lights or fires. The man who goes out with a willow branch

hair; his enchantment is a punishment imposed by their sins. In the best of cases, the story ends in
a happy marriage.
