This convent was founded in 1283 by the Abbess
Dona Mor Dias.
In 1330, the Queen, Dona Isabel of Aragon, took an
interest in it and had a new church built in Gothic
style.
The site of the convent was proved a bad choice, due
to flooding from the River Mondego.
This convent was abandoned in 1677.
