2. The designer and sculptor John Machado was born in Coimbra in
1942.
He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Porto, where he taught
graphic design between the years 1976 and 1983, when he left
teaching to devote himself to the design area.

3. • John Machado lives and works in Porto and has
developed an extensive work as an illustrator and
industrial designer. He was distinguished by the
originality of his graphic language.
• John Machado has exhibited his work in some of the
most important galleries and museums in the world and
has been awarded national and international prizes as an
illustrator and designer.
