2. Camilo Almeida Pessanha was born in Coimbra on
September 7, 1867 and died in Macau, China on March 1st ,
1926.
He studied law in Coimbra. He was appointed Royal Attorney
in Bragança, lawyer in Óbidos and in 1894, he moved to
Macau, where for three years he was Professor of Philosophy
and later a district judge.
3. He published poems in some magazines and
newspapers, but his only book "Clepsydra", was
published in 1920 by Ana de Castro Osório, without his
participation because he was in Macau. Thanks to this
initiative, the verses of Camilo Pessanha won’t be
forgotten.
Despite the small size of its work, he is considered one
of the most important Portuguese poets.
