2. The position of Chief MRI Technologist is highly responsible
technical, supervisory and, administrative work in planning and
directing all MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and X-Ray
for the Ulmaging Radiology division. Responsibility includes
assist in monitoring fiscal and budgetary expenditures, monitoring
medical reports to ensure compliance with all regulatory laws, and
managing procurement activities for the Radiology division. The
employee exercises independent judgment and supervisory
knowledge in assuring the highest level of medical care is
administers to all patients who seeks radiology care. Supervision
is exercised over technical and clerical staff in performing various
phases of care. Supervision is received from the Department
Director who holds the employee responsible for the achievement
of desired goals and objectives.
3. Performs technical and supervisory duties in the Ulmaging
Radiology division, enforces departmental rules and regulations
and ensures that department procedures and protocols are
followed.
Participates in the development of clinical areas strategic and
operational plans.
Coordinates activities with departmental staff to assure
maximum effect, minimize duplication, and enhance better
utilization of resources.
Advises and direct other radiologist in new or difficult
procedures; checks all charts of patients under treatment at
regular intervals to eliminate dosage errors, arithmetical errors,
or errors of intention.
4. Plans schedules and organizes work for staff ensuring proper
distribution and delegation of assignments and efficient
utilization of personnel, space.
Assists in the development of in-service training for divisional
staff and students.
Establishes priorities for evaluation or research development
and monitors progress; assist in compilation of statistical data
for departmental evaluation purposes.
Assists the Director in formulating fiscal and practices
including preparation of the annual departmental budget.
Uses the following systems to access permitted Protected
Health Information (PHI): Imagecast (RIS/PACS), IDX, OTG,
JMH HIS system, UM/JMH Care Systems and Film Room
Database.
5. Assist in the development of administrative and operational
policies, procedures and regulations.
Maintains required unit records, reports, and statistics for
administrative purposes
Monitors staff performance to ensure that the highest level
of care is administered.
Makes recommendations regarding hiring, discipline and
promotions of subordinates; authorizes leave and overtime;
evaluates and rates employee performance.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information
according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
6. Knowledge in principles, practices and procedures involved
in the operation of radiology and radiation therapy equipment.
Knowledge of the human anatomy and proper positioning of
the patient to provide treatment as prescribed
Knowledge of procedures employed with Radiation hazards,
materials safety data sheets and their application.
Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical
principles, procedures, and techniques.
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working
relationship with patients, physicians, technologist, support
personnel and other staff.
Effective verbal and written communication skills along with
proper telephone etiquette
7. Associated (2-years) degree.
MRI license is required.
8. A minimum of five years of experience is
required.
