The aim of the PDHPE syllabus is to
develop in students the
knowledge, understanding, skills, value
s and attitudes needed to lead healthy
lives. (PDHPE Syllabus, p.8)




 Healthy children lead to more productive society, and PDHPE
 allows students the opportunity to develop these skills.
PDHPE is not only about sport, but it is also about the skills that are
necessary to achieve a healthy lifestyle.


The skills developed through PDHPE are:

-Moving - Problem solving       - Communicating -Decision making
- Interacting



 As according to the PDHPE curriculum where it enhances the skills
 that enable for better health and movement outcomes (PDHPE
 syllabus p.8)
With the rise of various issues facing children today, it is vital they be equipped
with the knowledge that PDHPE provides:


   ROAD SAFETY

   With many students walking
   to school, knowledge of road
   safety is vital.




 PEER RELATIONSHIPS

   Interacting and developing
   relationships is taught. This will
   be of great benefits for children
   both now and in the future for
   building strong and healthy
   relationships.
PERSONAL IDENTITY
Students are able to identify who they and
how they relate to others. It allows
children to feel a sense of
belonging, which important for their health.


NUTRITION

 With the rise of health problems
 such as obesity and diabetes in
 children, it becomes increasingly
 important that children are taught
 about the ways to avoid such
 health problems.




 PDHPE should be taught in school because it focuses on the child’s
 health, which is the basis for any child to succeed in any other area.
