1. WEDDING INVITE WORDING FROM BRIDE AND GROOM
It doesn’t matter whether your wording is traditional, creative or class, the fact of the matter is
that whichever way you choose there has to be rules that has to be followed in a wedding
invitation wording.
These rules are actually simpler and straightforward and they will act as guidelines. The first
and the most important rule off all are to make a beautiful wedding invitation that represents
you, your spouse and the day of the weeding.
Highlighted below are the elements of wedding invitations.
Whose hosting
The request to come to the wedding
The names of the bride and the groom
The date and time
The location
Reception information
Dress code
Separate RSVP card
With these guidelines, take the wedding invitation wording step by step.
The host line: who’s hosting
The bride’s parents are the host of the wedding hence should be named at the top of the
wedding invitation wording.
If there are any chances that the wedding is funded by both sets of parents inclusive of the bride
and groom, you can start your invitation with, “Together with their parents, Abigail and Charles
request the honor of your presence…”
If the parent is deceased and you would like to include the name in the invitation then you will
have to change things a little. For instance,
Nicki Trump, the daughter of Daniel Trump and the Late Jane Trump, and Roy Grande, the son
of Donald Grande and Iris Grande, request the pleasure of your company in their wedding on
2. Oct 30TH
2017 AT twelve O’clock in the afternoon, The Reagan Library, Simi Valley, California,
dinner and dancing to follow, Black tie required.
Keep your each parent on a separate line if the parents are divorce and/ or remarried and you
would like to include them both as hosts. For instance,
Mr. Leonard and Mary Legend and
Mr. Joseph Stephens and Katty Stephens and
Mr. Haron and Hillary Timberlake
Invite you the wedding of their children

Reception immediately after.
The request Line: Please come!
This is where you ask for your guest presence. For instance,
“Invite you to celebrate with them,”
“Pleasure of your company”
The Names of Bride and Groom
The name of the Bride traditionally comes first followed by the name of the groom and if by any
chance the names haven’t been included at the top of the invitation wording, they should still
take center stage a few lines down.
The Date and Time
There are no numerals in a formal wedding everything is written out in full. Time of the day is
spelled out in O’clock. The use of a.m and p.m are optional. Note that for casual weddings
numerals are fine.
3. The Location
In this case the city and state should be written out in full in either case. The street address of
the venue is not necessary but to avoid
Reception Information
When the reception confusion, indicate it in your invitation wording is elsewhere, the location
goes on a different line and if the reception is not immediately after the wedding, indicate the
time.
Dress code
In accordance with the wedding invitation etiquette, the dress code should be at the lower right
corner of the invitation if it’s to be included in the invitation but if you don’t include a note on
attire.
Separate RSVP card
If you choose to include a separate response card to fill out and return in the mail, include the
website address on a separate card.
