For lab assignments you must use an actual database – Database
systems such as Oracle, MS SQL, DB2, or Access are all
acceptable if they can handle the capability to handle these
questions. Do the exercises in the actual database then copy and
paste the results or an image of the results here in the respective
question part. ER Diagrams and Schemas can be created with
14. MS Visio templates. Refer to your Lab Manual located under

Vol. 2
Drivers and Insurance
Project Description:
You have been asked to modify a database that tracks driver
data and insurance details. You will update, add to, and delete
records from tables. You will also create queries that aggregate
data, find unmatched, and repeating values.
Instructions:
For the purpose of grading the project you are required to
perform the following tasks:
Step Instructions Points Possible
1 Start Access. Open the downloaded Access database named
exploring_a06_Grader_h1. Save the database as
exploring_a06_Grader_h1_LastFirst. 0
2 Create a select query that includes the CategoryID and
CategoryName from the Categories table and the UnitPrice and
ProductName fields from the Products table (in that order). Run
the query and note the CategoryIDs for Beverages and Dairy.
Hint: On the CREATE tab, in the Queries group, click
Query Design. 8
15. 3 Add the appropriate CategoryID criterion to limit the
query output to only beverages. Convert the query to an update
query. Update the UnitPrice for beverages only by increasing it
by 5 percent. Hint: The CategoryID for beverages is 1. To
convert the query, on the QUERY TOOLS DESIGN tab, in the
Query Type group, click Update. To enter the update data, type
[UnitPrice]*1.05 in the Update To row of the UnitPrice field. 14
4 Update the UnitPrice for dairy products only by increasing
it by 4 percent. Run the query. Save the query as Update Prices.
Close the query. Hint: The CategoryID for dairy is 4. To
save the query, click Save on the Quick Access toolbar. To run
the query, on the QUERY TOOLS DESIGN tab, in the Results
group, click Run. 6
5 Create a select query that identifies all of the discontinued
products. Include all fields from the Products table. Hint:
Type Yes in the criteria row of the Discontinued field. 8
6 Convert the select query to a make table query. Name the
new table Discontinued Products. Run the query. Save the query
as Make Discontinued Products Table. Close the query. Hint:
On the QUERY TOOLS DESIGN tab, in the Query Type group,
click Make Table. 6
7 Make a copy of the Make Discontinued Products Table
query and save it as Append Discontinued Products Table. Open
the Append Discontinued Products Table query in Design view.
Convert the make table query to an append query. The query
will append to the Discontinued Products table. Hint: To
make a copy of the query, right-click the query in the
Navigation Pane and click Copy. To convert the query, on the
QUERY TOOLS DESIGN tab, in the Query Type group, click
Append. 8
8 Modify the criteria to add the Boston Crab Meat product to
the Discontinued Products table, using the SupplierID from the
Products table. Run the query, save it, and then close it. Hint:
The SupplierID for Boston Crab Meat is 19. Be sure to clear the
criteria in the Discontinued field. 6
9 Make a copy of the Append Discontinued Products Table
16. query and save it as Delete Discontinued Products. Open the
Delete Discontinued Products query in Design view. Convert
the append query to a delete query. Hint: On the QUERY
TOOLS DESIGN tab, in the Query Type group, click Delete. 8
10 Modify the criteria to delete the discontinued products, as
well as the record for Boston Crab Meat using its SupplierID
(Hint: There will be two criteria). Run, save, and close the
query. Hint: The criteria for SupplierID is 19; the criteria for
Discontinued is Yes. 6
11 Open the Profit query in Design view and add the
LastName field from the Employees table to the last column of
the design grid. Run, save, and close the query. 4
12 Use the query wizard to create a crosstab query based on
the Profit query that shows total profit by LastName (row
heading) and CategoryName (column heading). Name the query
Profit_Crosstab. Hint: On the CREATE tab, in the Queries
group, click Query Wizard. Click Crosstab Query Wizard. 8
13 Modify the query to display CategoryName as a row
heading field and LastName as a column heading field. Run,
save, and close the query. Hint: In the Query Design grid,
click the Crosstab row of the CategoryName and LastName
fields and select from the drop-down list. 6

Office 2013 – myitlab:grader – Instructions Exploring Series
Vol. 2
Replacements, Ltd.
25. Project Description:
You work as the database manager at Replacements, Ltd.,
located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Replacements, Ltd., has
the world’s largest selection of old and new dinnerware,
including china, stoneware, crystal, glassware, silver, stainless
steel, and collectibles. Your task is to add validation rules,
create a form that data entry associates can use to add new
items to the inventory, and create a new table to classify
merchandise as china, crystal, or flatware. You will also use
queries and reports to analyze existing data.
Instructions:
For the purpose of grading the project you are required to
perform the following tasks:
Step Instructions Points Possible
1 Start Access. Open the file named
exploring_a05_grader_h1_Replace.accdb. 0
2 Use Design view to create a new table. Add ProductLineID
as the first field name, with data type AutoNumber; add
ProductLineDescription as the second field name, with data type
Short Text and field size 10. Hint: On the CREATE tab, in the
Tables group, click Table Design. To change the field size,
modify the field property in the lower portion of the screen. 8
3 Ensure ProductLineID is set as the primary key. Save the
table and name it Product Lines. Add three records: China,
Flatware, and Crystal. Close the table. Hint: To set the
primary key, right-click the field. 8
4 Open the Inventory table in Design view. Set the
OnHandQty and ProductLineID fields to Required. Hint: To
make a field required, double-click the Required field property
in the lower portion of the screen. 6
5 Establish a validation rule for the OnHandQty field that
requires the value to be greater than or equal to zero. Create
validation text for the OnHandQty: The value of this field must
be 0 or greater. (include the period). Save the table. Switch to
26. Datasheet view. Change the OnHandValue in the first record to
–3. The validation text appears. Press Esc to restore the original
OnHandValue value. Close the Inventory table. Hint:
Modify the Validation Rule and Validation Text field properties
in the lower portion of the screen. Be sure to include the period
at the end of the validation text. 6
6 Open the Employees table in Design view. Add a phone
number input mask for the Phone field, storing with the
symbols. Save and close the table. Hint: In the Input Mask box
in the field properties, click the Build button. 16
7 Open the Inventory table in Design view. Change the Data
Type of the ProductLineID field to Lookup Wizard. Use the
Product Lines table for the values in the lookup field, select
both fields in the table, accept the default sort, hide the key
field from the user, and then accept the default name
ProductLineID. Save the table. Switch to Datasheet view.
Change the product line to Crystal in the first record and click
the second record. If the record updates successfully, change the
first record back to China. Close the table. Hint: Click the
Data Type arrow, and then click Lookup Wizard. 8
8 Open the Find Low Quantities query in Design view. Add
criteria for the OnHandQty field. The user should be prompted
to Enter Threshold. The query should display all results that are
less than or equal to the threshold but greater than or equal to 1.
Run the query. Enter 2 when prompted to Enter Threshold. You
should have one result. Save and close the query. Hint: In the
design grid, in the OnHandQty column, click in the Criteria
row, type Between 1 And [Enter Threshold] and then press
ENTER. 12
9 Open the Rounded Prices query in Design view. Create a
new column to round the Retail price of each item to the nearest
dollar. Name the field RoundedRetail. Create a new column to
display Luxury for all items that have a RoundedRetail value of
$100 or more and Everyday for items that are less than $100.
Name the field Class. Run the query. Save and close the query.
Hint: In the design grid, in the first empty column, type
27. RoundedRetail: Round([Retail]) and then press ENTER. In the
next column, type Class:
IIf([RoundedRetail]>=100,"Luxury","Everyday") and then press
ENTER. 12
10 Open the Overdue Reviews query in Design view. Add a
new column to determine if an employee’s performance review
is overdue. If the employee’s DateOfLastReview is null, it
should display Overdue. If not, it should display nothing. Name
the column ReviewStatus. Add criteria of Overdue to the
column you just created, so only the employees who are
Overdue display. Run the query. Ensure only employees with
null DateOfLastReview display. Save and close the query.
Hint: In the design grid, in the first empty column, type
ReviewStatus: IIf(IsNull([DateOfLastReview]),"Overdue","")
and then press ENTER. In the same column, in the Criteria cell,
type "Overdue" and then press ENTER. 12
11 Open the Order Totals By Month query in Design view.
Change the first column so that instead of grouping by the order
date, you group by the month. Use the DatePart function to
extract the month from the date. Name the column
MonthNumber. Run the query. The first line should read 5 (as
the month, representing May), with a total of $1409.17. Save
and close the query. Hint: Change the first field to
MonthNumber: DatePart("m",[OrderDate]) and then press
ENTER. 12
12 Save the database. Close the database, and then exit
Access. Submit the database as directed. 0

Access Chapter 3: Homework Project 1
Northwind Traders
Project Description:
Northwind Traders, an international gourmet food distributor, is
concerned about shipping delays over the last six months.
Review the orders over the past six months and identify any
order that was not shipped within 30 days. Each customer that
falls within that time frame will be called to inquire about any
problems the delay may have caused. In addition, you will
create an order summary and an order summary by country. You
have created a smaller version of the database, which you will
use for testing purposes.
Instructions:
For the purpose of grading the project you are required to
perform the following tasks:
Step Instructions Points Possible
1 Start Access. Open the downloaded Access file named
exploring_a03_Grader_h1. 0
2 Create a query using Query Design. From the Customers
table, include the fields CompanyName, ContactName,
ContactTitle, and Phone (in that order). From the Orders table,
include the fields OrderID, OrderDate, and ShippedDate (in that
order). Run the query and then examine the records. Save the
query as Shipping Efficiency. 5
3 Add a calculated field named DaysToShip to calculate the
number of days taken to fill each order. (Hint: The expression
will include the OrderDate and the ShippedDate; the results will
not contain negative numbers.) Run the query and then examine
the results. Save the query. 10
4 Add criteria to limit the query results to include any order
that took more than 25 days to ship. 5
5 Add the Quantity field from the Order Details table and the
ProductName field from the Products table to the query (in that
53. order). Sort the query by ascending CompanyName. 5
6 Switch to Datasheet view to view the final results. In
Design view, add the caption Days to Ship to the DaysToShip
field. Save and close the query. 5
7 Create a query using Query Design and add the Customers,
Orders, Order Details, and Products tables. Add the fields
OrderID and OrderDate (in that order) from the Orders table.
Set both fields' Total rows to Group By. 5
8 Add a calculated field in the third column. Name the field
ExtendedAmount. This field should multiply the number of
items ordered by the price per item. This will calculate the total
amount for each order. Format the calculated field as Currency
and change the caption to Total Dollars. Change the Total row
to Sum. 10
9 Add a calculated field in the fourth column. Name the field
DiscountAmount. The field should multiply the number of items
ordered, the price per item, and the discount field. This will
calculate the total discount for each order. Format the
calculated field as Currency, and add a caption of Discount
Amt. Change the Total row to Sum. Run the query. Save the
query as Order Summary. Return to Design view. 10
10 Add criteria to the OrderDate field so only orders made
between 1/1/2016 and 12/31/2016 are displayed. Change the
Total row to Where. This expression will display only orders
that were created in 2016. Run the query and view the results.
Save and close the query. 10
11 Create a copy of the Order Summary query named Order
Financing. Switch to Design view of the new query and remove
the DiscountAmount field. 5
12 Add a new field using the Expression Builder named
SamplePayment. Insert the Pmt function with the following
parameters:
• Use .05/12 for the rate argument (5% interest, paid monthly)
• Use the number 12 for the num_periods argument (12 months)
• Use the calculated field ExtendedAmount for the
present_value
54. 10
13 Change the Total row to Expression for the
SamplePayment field. Change the Format for the
SamplePayment field to Currency. Run the query and verify the
second order has a sample payment of $125.84. Note: it will
display as a negative number. Save and close the query. 10
14 Create a copy of the Order Summary query named Order
Summary by Country. Replace the OrderID field with the
Country field in Design view of the new query. 5
15 Run the query and then examine the summary records;
there should be 5 countries listed. Switch to Design view and
change the sort order so that the country with the highest
ExtendedAmount is first and the country with the lowest
ExtendedAmount is last. Run the query and verify the results.
Save and close the query. 5
16 Close all database objects. Close the database and then exit
Access. Submit the database as directed. 0

Access Chapter 2: Homework Project 2
Game Collection
Project Description:
You decide to catalog your video games in an Access database.
In this project, you add two tables to a database you have
started—one to identify the game system that plays your game
and one to identify the category or genre of the game. Then you
join the tables in a relationship and query the database to
determine which games to take to a family party.
Instructions:
For the purpose of grading the project you are required to
perform the following tasks:
Step Instructions Points Possible
1 Start Access. Open the downloaded Access file named
exploring_a02_grader_h2. 0
2 Create a new table in Design view. Add the field name
SystemID and select AutoNumber as the Data Type. Add the
caption System ID. Set the SystemID field as the primary key
for the table. 8
3 Add a second field named SystemName with the Short
Text Data Type. Change the SystemName field size property to
15. Add the caption System Name. Save the table as System. 6
4 Switch to Datasheet view and enter the following system
names, letting Access assign the System ID:
XBOX 360
PS3
Wii
NES
PC Game
Nintendo 3DS
Save and close the table. 6
62. 5 Create a new table in Design view. Add the field name
CategoryID and select AutoNumber as the Data Type. Add the
caption Category ID. Set the CategoryID field as the Primary
Key for the table. 8
6 Add a second field named CategoryDescription and accept
Short Text as the Data Type. Change the field size property to
25. Add the caption Category Description. Save the table as
Category. 8
7 Switch to Datasheet view and enter the following system
names letting Access assign the Category ID:
Action
Adventure
Arcade
Racing
Rhythm
Role-playing
Simulation
Sports
Save and close the table. 8
8 Begin establishing relationships in the database by adding
the Category, Games, and System tables to the Relationships
window. Close the Show Table dialog box. Create a one-to-
many relationship between the SystemID field in the System
table and the SystemID field in the Games table, enforcing
Referential Integrity. Select the option to cascade update the
related fields. 8
9 Create a one-to-many relationship between the CategoryID
field in the Category table and the CategoryID field in the
Games table and enforcing Referential Integrity. Select the
option to cascade update the related fields. Save and close the
Relationships window. 6
10 Create a simple query using the Query Wizard. From the
Games table, add the GameName and Rating fields (in that
order). Save the query using the title Ratings and close the
63. query. 8
11 Create a new query in Design view. Add the Category,
Games, and System tables to the query design window. Add the
following fields to the query (in this order).
GameName
CategoryDescription
Rating
SystemName
DateAcquired 8
12 Sort the query in Ascending order by GameName and run
the query. Save the query as Game List. Close the query. 8
13 Copy the Game List query in the Navigation pane and
paste it with the name PS3 Games. Modify the query in Design
view by using PS3 as the criteria for SystemName. Remove the
sort by GameName and sort in Ascending order by
CategoryDescription. Save and run the query. Close the query.
8
14 Create a new query in Design view. Add the Category,
Games, and System tables to the query design window. Add the
following fields to the query (in this order).
GameName
Rating
CategoryDescription
SystemName 6
15 Set the Rating criteria so that only games with an
Everyone rating display. Save the query as Party and run the
query. Close the query. 4
16 Close all database objects. Close the database and then exit
Access. Submit the database as directed. 0
