The document summarizes information about the ISIS "G. TASSINARI" secondary school in Pozzuoli, Italy. It offers three technical courses: 1) Informatic Technology, 2) Chemistry, and 3) Mechanics. Pozzuoli is located in the volcanic Phlegrean Fields region, which includes the still active Solfatara volcano. The Solfatara has geysers, mineral springs, and boiling mud pools, with the largest geyser called "Big Mouth" shooting steam at 160°C. Archaeological excavations in Pozzuoli have revealed an underground city similar to Pompeii.

and steaming muds
Born 4000 years ago almost in the exact centre of the Phlegrean Fields, the
Solfatara presents itself lively with geysers, sources of gases, mineral water springs
and boiling mud. The biggest geyser is called “Big Mouth”, a natural source of
pressured water vapour. It shoots out at 160°C and contains a mixture of gases
with a peculiar “rotten egg” smell.
The Vulcano Solfatara is the epicentre of the cyclic phenomenon of the rising and
lowering of the ground level known as “BRADISISM”.

8. For a long time the Averno lake was
considered the entrance of the hell, as
Virgil tells us in the beginning of the
Eneide.
The identification of this lake as the
main door of the hell is due to its
origins: The Averno lake is in the mouth
of an inactive volcano: in the past,
thanks to the volcanic exhalations, the
birds which flew over the lake died
instantaneously. That’s why the ancient
Romans used to call it “Aornon”, which
means “place without birds”. For this
reason, Virgil thought it was a demoniac
place, point of connection between the
