2. LOCATION
The Abric de la Falguera is at the entrance of the Barranc
de les Coves. It is a small ravine at the Polop Valley, near
Alcoy, with several archaeological sites.
3. PREHISTORY PERIODS
This archaeological site was used in the Mesolithic,
Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze age. It’s an important
site for the study of the last hunter –gatherer societies
and the evolution of this way of life to that of the first
farmers in the area
4. FINDINGS
It was found an important set of prehistoric pottery of
ancient phases of the regional Neolithic, with the
presence of ceramics and ceramics with printed and
incised decorations.
5. IBERIAN AND ROMAN TIMES
It also appeared some Iberian and Roman findings. The
Roman coin found in 1999,coined Antoninianus Claudius
II in Rome between A.D.268-270. The cave was probably
used as a simple shelter at that time.
