  4. 4. Preproduction <ul><li>Before you even start recording anything, you should make significant effort in planning. Postproduction <ul><li>There is a lot of fancy things that you can do to your podcast like adding sound effects, and music beds. </li></ul><ul><li>Once your podcast is recorded, you need to make your file ready for the Web. </li></ul><ul><li>Remember the difference of saving vs. exporting . </li></ul><ul><li>Remember to prepare your file for uploading by naming it numerically, 01Bcast.mp3 for example. </li></ul>

  10. 10. Promote your podcast! <ul><li>Promoting the Podcast </li></ul><ul><li>Once you have a few episodes of your podcast published, you may want to expand your audience. There are many ways to help listeners learn about and subscribe to your podcast. </li></ul><ul><li>Most people (families) will only know about your podcast if you let them know! </li></ul>
  11. 11. First-time Web Publishing <ul><li>You will need to create your Home Page. We’ll do it pretty simple for now, keep your eyes out for future trainings! </li></ul><ul><li>Open Web publishing </li></ul><ul><ul><li>File > Open > Web Publishing </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Create Home Page </li></ul><ul><ul><li>File > New > New Document Special > HCK3 Web Page </li></ul></ul>

Publishing - Setup FirstClass (One time) <ul><li>Log into FirstClass using the client application, not using the Web interface </li></ul><ul><li>Open Web Publishing container </li></ul><ul><ul><li>File > Open > Web Publishing </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Click on the New Web Page button </li></ul><ul><li>Click on the Podcast icon, and click OK </li></ul>

Publishing – Adding New Episodes <ul><li>Open Web Publishing container </li></ul><ul><ul><li>File > Open > Web Publishing </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Click on the Podcast container, then click the Icon that says New Episode </li></ul><ul><li>In the dialogue box, fill out the circled fields </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Title </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Author </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Subtitle (this is the description that shows up) </li></ul></ul>

Publishing – Adding New Episodes <ul><li>Finally, drag the MP3 file (that should be saved on your desktop, for example) onto this window on the gray bottom portion. </li></ul><ul><li>You’ll know it is ready to press Save when the “ wave form ” is present. Press Save , the episode is now “live.” </li></ul>

Adding a link to your podcast… <ul><li>There is several ways to link from your Home Page - most people will want it in their navigation from their home page. </li></ul><ul><li>Go ahead and link to your podcast now. </li></ul><ul><li>The url is your Web page URL, plus “/podcast” </li></ul><ul><li>highmail.highlands.k12.fl.us/~belangei/podcast </li></ul>

Listening to your Podcast <ul><li>Listening to your podcast is SUPER simple. </li></ul><ul><li>Open your favorite Internet browser </li></ul><ul><li>Enter your Web page URL into the URL Bar </li></ul><ul><li>Click on the podcast link you’ve created </li></ul><ul><li>Click “Listen in iTunes” </li></ul>
