2. RESIDENCES
The boarding houses are the heart of the Brentwood campus. All seven boarding houses overlook the spectacular
Saanich Peninsula, each providing easy access to all of the arts, sports and academic facilities. The facilities are modern
and comfortable; each house has common room spaces, kitchen areas, televisions and DVD players as well as areas for
socializing. Each house also has its own unique tradition which the students within each house adopt as their own.
Up to four students typically share a room and each student has her own bed, desk, chair and dresser for clothing and
personal items. Often on the weekends, there are inter-house competitions.Students in these events represent their
house in a series of artistic, athletic or academic competitions designed to further enhance the bonds between house
members. The residence houses each have their appointed houseparents and assistant houseparents (usually a teaching
faculty member and his/her family).
ACADEMIC CURRICULUM
Brentwood College School operates on a full-year programme. Students typically take at least five full-year courses along
with at least two fine arts extracurricular and a sport that can be changed each term.
The pursuit of academic excellence is a fundamental aim of the School. The quality of Brentwood’s curriculum excels
above the minimum academic limits set by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and has been ranked consistently
as one of the most academically inclined schools in British Columbia. Class sizes are relatively small, and in subject areas
where it is advantageous to do so,students are grouped according to ability. Our academic curricula in all subjects and
at all grades reflect our mission as a university preparatory school.Courses are developed and student programmes are
shaped to prepare our graduates successfully for post-secondary education.
Students select classes in the areas of English,Languages (French,Spanish),Mathematics,Sciences,Geography,History,
Global Studies,Visual Arts,Music,Drama,Computer Technology,Business,Law and Physical Education.
AP courses are available in 15+ subjects

email account, network space, and access to software programs. Computers are available for use in the resource library,
computer labs and in residences.

is committed to facilitating learning through technology. The school believes that integrating technology into the
classroom helps students gain lifelong computing skills.
