2. Manageable, Scalable, Reproducible and
Predictable (MSRP) solutions
Engineering and Architecture
IT organizations are continuously challenged with
protecting business-critical applications and data
against various causes of downtime. HVE
provides organizations a true software defined
datacenter that encompasses business continuity
by design. HVE’s overall modular design provides
better flexibility to protect your business critical
information within VMware vSphere and
Microsoft environments. Whether you choose to
build your own solution or subscribe to disaster
recovery services, HVE is there to provide the
compute needed.
• Modular Next-Gen performance design scales
virtualization architectures efficiently.
• Scalable for large enterprise deployments or
small organizations.
• Built on virtualization platforms that provide
Software Defined Datacenter Solutions.
3. The new compute is designed to
implement an infrastructure for
high availability and provides a
solid solution for backup and
disaster recovery based on
virtualization technologies. It also
expands the overall compute
capabilities for DR site and
upgrades overallVMWare software
architecture for improved
performance and stability. Finally,
it provides a long-term business
continuity virtualization platform
roadmap by utilizing best-of-breed
technologies.

4. HVE
Disaster Recovery Solution
Business continuity ensures simple, cost-
effective availability for all your
applications. Traditional application-
level clustering solutions are costly, hard
to implement and difficult to manage.
With HVE’s design around Software
Defined Datacenters, organizations can
increase the baseline level of availability
for all their applications and ensure
service level agreements are met.
With this implementation, the outlined
architecture will replace existing
backup/replication solution and provide
a new backup/replication capabilities
associated with Veeam andVMWare
vSphere 5.5 enhances.

5. The architecture will include
the HVE-STAGE-BIX server at
the DR site (which is an all-in-
one server), SAN andVMWare
compute server.
This server provides ~3TB local
SSD, 40 Logical (CPUs Intel Ivy
Bridge), 256G Ram 1833Hz
memory and isVMWare
vSphere ready.

Additionally there will be two
(2) new iSCSI NAS devices with
~10TB usable storage.
One (1) appliance will be
located at the central office
and the other at the DR site
collocated with the HVE-
STAGE-BIX appliance.

7. Veeam software will be used for
the backup and replication engine
at the software layer. Coupled
with vSphere 5.5 enhancements,
this provides a long-term industry
standard strategy for backup and
replications.
This solution can provide 1:many
production to replicate client
compute platforms.

repeatable, and predictable.
Once the data is recovered, the
users will be able to connect to
the remote servers via theVDI
infrastructure.

11. Stand Alone
StandAlone HVE
Systems are great for
starting a newVDI
environment. They
come fully configured
and ready to deploy.
Tethered
Tethered HVE
Systems are
designed to tie into
existing
infrastructure. They
are an efficient and
cost-effective way to
expand desktop
pools.
Cloud Hotspot
HVE Systems can be
used to create a Cloud
“Hotspot” at a remote
location. This setup is
ideal for branch offices
or other locations
separated from the
main data center that
do not have sufficient
bandwidth or other
resources to
communicate
effectively with the
central infrastructure.

HVE systems, there
is no need for
additional
infrastructure.

Remote Office
Branch offices or other off-site locations may not
have the bandwidth to support running virtual
desktops from the central datacenter. HVE can
install an appliance at the branch office that can
handle the compute power to run the virtual
desktops, but still link back to the central
datacenter for persona and policy information.
This gives the branch office the best possible
performance while IT infrastructure and security
remains intact.
