3. • Responsible for assisting the Communications Officer in fulfilling the goals and functions of the
Communications Department.
• Responsible for collaborating with Department staff; to develop media products that amplify the
activities and events of the respective Department, and distribute media products via various means of
communication to Tribal membership.
• My personal objective for this item is to promote/advertise the NHBP annual Pow-Wow by means of
traditional media including:
1. Spot TV – Fox 17, WOOD TV 8/WOTV, WWMT, WZZM, and cable.
2. Interactive forms of media including, NHBP.com. Facebook.com, and mLive.com
• Benefits to promoting/advertising Annual Pow-Wow :
1. Event is open to the public. This would give Native vendors an even greater
opportunity to sell their products.
2. This would also help create more awareness of our culture, heritage, and the
community of the NHBPI.
4. Responsible for attending Tribal events and activities and to document those events and
activities including, but not limited to the following means: digital photographs, digital video,
audio, and interviews.

Communications to be promoted across all media outlets.
I have created an official Facebook page for the NHBPI!! This Facebook page is UNPUBLISHED
and pending approval of Director of Communications, as well as, Executive Director, and Council.
With the new timeline format of Facebook, I have uploaded important milestones of our Tribe’s
heritage. The history of the Potawatomi people dates back as far as 1600 A.D.
• Administrators will be myself, as well as, Lisa. We will manage and implement NHBP
Facebook page and coordinate with Council and NHBP staff on events and news. (See
screen shot on next page).
• NHBP Official Facebook page will be for announcements, and event updates to members.
No posting will be allowed by members to site unless approved by administers. Posts will
not be of any political views or opinions and fans (members) can be banned from Facebook
page if administer finds inappropriate posts.
6.
7. • Communications to be promoted across all media outlets (continued).
• I would also like to set up a Twitter account also managed by myself and Lisa. Tweets will be
event and news driven similar to messages delivered through the Honeywell system.
• Both official Facebook and Twitter pages to be promoted in every Turtle Press to increase
Fans/Followers and increase member awareness.
• I also would like to set up a short code via mobile provider of choice to send news to members via
text messages. This will also be promoted in the Turtle Press so members know how to “opt in”.
• “Text NHBP to 83936 to be updated on news and events on the Nottawaseppi Huron Band
of the Potawatomi”
• Text messages are the fasted form of correspondence. On average a text message is read
within 15 minutes, vs. an email which is read in an average of 6.4 hours.
• Open rates are extremely high with text marketing. Your message is being read by 95% of
recipients within 15 minutes of being sent. Email open rates in comparison average less
than 20%
9. •Purchase the word “NHBP” and promote across all media outlets (Turtle
Press, Direct Mail, Honeywell system, nhbpi.com, and Social Media).
Allows opportunity to build a database in a short period of time.
TEXT
NHBP TO
83936
•Give NHBP Members a reason to join!
Text “NHBP” to 83936 and receive a $10 gift certificate
• A little incentive goes a long way.
10. Continuously monitors and updates internal and external communications to accurately depict Government
operations.
I would like volunteer to be the official spokesperson for the Honeywell voicemail alert system.
This is relevant in creating a “brand” consistency for our tribe. The Honeywell voicemail alert
system should be promoted across all NHPB media – Facebook, nhbpi.com, Twitter, Turtle Press,
and Text Alerts.
Coordinates with the Tribal Council and, when appropriate, legal counsel, to release official statements or
respond to media inquiries regarding policy, legal or political actions of the Tribal government.
I can send out a press release to all “media” including local broadcast tv stations, radio groups i.e. Clear
Channel Radio and Cumulus Radio, and various publications and interactive media sites that Myself, or
Lisa is the official NHBP Point of Contact (POC) in the event they will need a statement or press
release. All correspondence will be approved by Lisa. I can send media inquiries to the appropriate
person (staff or Council) to get a statement.
