Finance Assistant - CPR Regeneration
RESPONSIBLE TO : Company Accountant
LOCATION : Pool, Cornwall

PRIME OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
1. To provide financial support to the Company Accountant.
2. To assist in ensuring accurate day to day financial management and
maintenance of the company’s systems and finances.
3. Assisting other Administrative Support Officers in managing incoming
telephone calls and queries, redirecting as appropriate.
a) Main duties
• To assist in the controlling and recording of all financial transactions in the
company’s financial information system (Sage Line 50)
• To assist in preparing monthly and final accounts as directed by the
Company Accountant.
• To maintain the company’s fixed asset and hospitality registers.
• To ensure that all grant and reimbursement claims are prepared to agreed
timescales, are accurate and verified by reconciliation.
• To ensure all essential financial documentation is maintained and
available for audit purposes.
• To assist in preparing and co-ordinating any statutory/other returns as
required.
• Utilise and maintain all financial systems and to promote the usage of
these systems (in line with best practice) with other relevant staff.
• Identify improvements to financial routines/systems and report these to the
Company Accountant.
• Work collaboratively and supportively with other Administrative Support
Officers to provide effective supporting functions.
• Contribute to the operations of the Corporate Services Team by adopting
the company’s operational policies and procedures

character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility
b) Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities
• None.
c) External & Internal Relationships
• Effectively communicate with external bodies, service providers and
suppliers both face to face and over the telephone.
• Ensure day to day financial administrative matters affecting the company
are effectively communicated to Company Accountant
d) Person Specification
Qualifications and knowledge
Essential
• Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above (or equivalent) including Maths
and English.
• Part AAT (or equivalent) qualified with at least 2 years of working in a
financial position
• Experience of working with Sage Line 50 accounting packages
Desirable
• AAT (or equivalent) qualified
• An understanding of development and regeneration.
• Knowledge of public and European funding programmes
Skills and abilities
Essential
• Intermediate excel and word processing skills
• To able to effectively manage and plan workloads
• Ability to work to timescales and achieve deadlines
• Ability to analyse and interpret data
• Effective communication skills both written and oral
• Ability to work as a team member to meet shared objectives
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
