In order to learn this topic about the company of Haagen–Dazs, the following methodologies are employed. Document analysis is a social research
method and is an important research tool in its own right and is an invaluable part of most schemes of triangulation. Documentary work involves
reading lots of written material which helps to scan the documents onto a computer and use a qualitative analysis reasons. 1. Gathering the data from
UCD library
In order to learn the information, I use the articles and newspapers from UCD library. 2. Gathering the data from internet
I use the Haagen–Dazs official website in china to learn the background of this company. And some information like customer taste about ice–cream are

2.3 Research limitations
As for the limitations, the thesis is far from being perfect due to certain reasons mainly in the following aspects. Firstly, the author intends to point out
that because of the author's limited acquisition of knowledge, the analysis is far from being profound or in–depth, however, the author has

Source Code Essay
There are several definition of source code, which makes regulating it difficult because different regulators may have varying conceptions of just what
it is, and as a result, what kinds of rules should attach to it.
The general definition of source code that most people acknowledge is "the version of software as it is originally written by a human in plain text" (
Source Code). According to this definition, code is written by humans in order to create software, which can be any operating system, program or
data with a processor. The average person can see that the source code would be the code that the software needs in order to function. This is source
code but source code is also much more.
Another definition states holds that source code is "any fully executable description of a software system. It is therefore so construed as to include
machine code, very high level languages and executable graphical representations of systems" (Harman). At first glance, it seems just like the other
definition. However, it only seems that way because we automatically apply the assumption that the "executable description" is the same as the
"version of software" which may not necessarily be the case. The description leads us to believe that the source code does not necessarily have to run
the software but can just be a description for said software. The first definition leads us to believe that the code is that specific software. The second
definition also mentions "machine code" and

Technology And Its Impact On The Business
Founded in Taiwan in 1972, today CX technology is a leading supplier in cold forging and plastic injection components and parts. Originally, CX
technology produced bullets and bicycle parts, however, this had changed due to shift in consumer demand towards speakers and component parts
exclusively. CX Technology had the ability to deliver specific products on time, which earned the firm very significant recognition over the years.
They had earned a name for themselves based on their reliability and high quality products, most of their sales revenue came from satisfied repeat
customers. In 2007, Chairman Albert Ting had determined that changes needed to be made at CX Technology. He had determined that revenue was
reasonably stable, however, the rate of attaining new businesses was not reassuring. CX was a leading supplier in cold forged components for
speakers, however, these were a commodity product, and furthermore the supply chain was capable of possibly being consolidated. Ting needed a
plan in order to secure CX Technology's future, he needed to diversify and determine a way to develop the business.
Despite CX Technology blossoming in the speaker production, the company needed a contingency plan. The growth of countries like China andUnited
States in the technology field would lead to the CX sales revenue. CX Technology needed another plan as an added advantage in case the company's
demand reduces. This contingency plan may include the production of new products that

A Short Summary : Qualitative Change
A Qualitative Change, or Old Wine in a New Bottle? South–South Development Cooperation Between Brazil and Mozambique through ProSAVANA
1. Introduction
At a time when Western geopolitical supremacy is on the wane and the axis of global power tilts irreversibly away from age–old hegemons, significant
changes are brewing across the international development scene (Gore 2013). This climate surfaced in the wake of the agricultural push of the 21st
century in the aftermath of the world food price and energy crises (UNCTAD 2009) which, combined with the vast portfolio of questionable outcomes
and unmaterialised promises amassed over decades of North–led initiatives and capital flows poured into Southern nations in the name of a

As the home to what is praised as one of the greatest triumphs in agricultural history (JICA 2011), Brazil has increasingly projected itself as an
alternative to Northern aid (Cabral & Weinstock 2010) within this emerging framework, in particular in Africa (Vaz & Inoue 2008).
This study thus asks whether the South–South experiment as articulated by Brazil poses a new model of international development cooperation that de
facto constitutes something different (White 2013) from and qualitatively better (Burges 2012) than the inherently vertical and inequality–reinforcing
(Six 2009) paradigm put forth by the Development Assistance Committee (DAC)–dominated, conditionality–based regime. While the possibility that
the very same asymmetries might be repeated among Southern countries has been raised before (Cesarino 2012; Mawdsley 2011), no satisfactory
answer has yet been found. Crucially, empirically–grounded research on Brazil's South–South agenda is relatively scarce in terms of how it has been
constructed and is operating.
Accordingly, the present work aims to bridge these gaps and contribute to the wider scholarly debate on the actual novelty of SSDC by analysing
ProSAVANA, a highly ambitious and controversial trilateral cooperation programme run by the Brazilian, Japanese and Mozambican governments
which aims to "create new agricultural development models" (FGV Projetos 2013; ProSAVANA n.d.) for rural areas in Mozambique and is inspired
by the transformation of

America Is A Melting Pot
America is a melting pot made up of people from many different races and ethnic backgrounds, so why are the American news broadcasters
predominantly white men in their late forties? News represents the American society so therefore American broadcasters should reflect society as a
whole. In addition, many people consider news anchors role models and it is important to see themselves represented and trust their news source. The
lack of diversity among newscasters impacts the audience's reception of the news. People are more likely to trust news sources that they relate to and
identify with. Many people do not even notice the lack of diversity or understand the impact it has on society. There needs to be more of an effort to
reflect diversity among our newscasters to correct the history of discrimination, to accurately reflect the audience and to provide role models and
promote positive images.
The United States is called a "melting pot " because the the varied groups of people that live in the country and interact every day, but the country also
has an ugly history or discrimination against women and minorities. The broadcasting industry has been guilty of this discrimination. There has been
blatant discrimination against women newscasters. "Women journalists initially had difficulty breaking into the broadcast news field and did not begin
to make real strides towards equality until the 1960s and 1970s" ( Irvin) . This is very discouraging to young women interested in this

We are confronted with what is undoubtedly the single most potent technology the world has ever known – more powerful even than atomic energy.
Yet it is being released throughout our environment and deployed with superficial or no risk assessments– as if no one needs to worry an iota about its
unparalleled powers to harm life as we know it – and for all future generations.

Why not take this assembly–line process to the next logical and progressive level?
What 's wrong then with the "advance" of genetic engineering? No doubt, with hybridizations conscious life is manipulated. But living organisms
continue to make some primary genetic decisions amid limited selections. We can understand this with an analogy. There is an immense difference
between being a matchmaker and inviting two people to a dinner party, to meet and see if they are compatible. This differs essentially from forcing
their meeting and union or a violent date rape. The former act may be divine, and the latter considered criminal. The implication is that biotechnology
involves vital moral issues in regard to the whole of life in nature.
With biotechnology, roses are no longer crossed with just roses. They are mated with pigs, tomatoes with oak trees, fish with asses, butterflies with
worms, orchids with snakes. The technology that makes this all possible is called biolistics – a gunshot–like violence that pierces the nuclear
membrane of cells. This essentially violates not just the core chambers of life (physically crossing nuclear membranes) but the conscious–choice
principle that is part of living nature 's essence. Some also compare it to the violent crossing of territorial borders of countries, subduing inhabitants
against their will.
What will happen if this

American Intervention in WWII Essay
World War II is generally viewed to be a moral war, or, as Howard Zinn would put it, "a good war." This conventional impression of World War II
results from American propaganda, along with misinterpretations of related events. Quite the contrary, the United States' foreign policy, especially
during World War II, was driven by imperialist goals rather than humanitarian concern. These foreign interventions are usually justified using political
ideologies that advocate the spread of democracy but the United States government fails to act in the interests of the common people in other countries;
instead, the US government intervened in foreign countries to protect its own needs and those of its private corporations. In addition, the ... Show more

To top it off, the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor gave the Americans a legitimate reason to join the war and to portray their intervention as a
strictly defensive and protective one. Claiming to spread democracy and stunt the spread of fascism, the United States managed to build its
reputation as a protector of the weak, despite its subtle plans to build an American empire. East Asia was an important region of American
influence; its strategic location, with its trade routes, for example, had the potential to offer the US a strong foothold in the Pacific region and the
upper hand over the Soviet Union. As a result, the use of the atomic weapons in Japan was a significant issue between Russia and the United States;
as put in A People's History of the World, the American decision to use the nuclear bomb against Japan in August 1945 "was clearly motivated, at
least in part, by a desire to show Stalin the enormity of the destructive power at its disposal." The US had already developed the technology yet the
decision to use the weapon was a debatable one, despite President Truman's statements justifying the decision on the basis that a Japanese invasion
would cost less American lives. Right next to Japan, the Open Door policy in China was important to American investors and proved to be very
profitable, too. As long as Japan and the United States shared the exploitation of

How Did Walt Disney Create Mickey Mouse?
The public is filled with Disney products and endorsements. Disneyland is known as the happiest place on Earth and all in thanks to the creator, Walt
Disney. Children now look up to Disney as a source of hope, faith and inspiration for the future. Disney left behind tracks to what a child needs to
grow and to become happy with the idea that magic exists. His first creation was brought to life by placing upon the name "Mickey." It is interesting to
note that Mickey Mouse started out as an impish, mischievous character that played a cow's teeth like a xylophone in his first movie. He also

This new Oswald model was adapted directly from a non–Oswald character in another Lantz cartoon: the Cinecolor "Fox and the Rabbit" (1935),

Cartune Classics series. It subsequently took his company 78 years to get back the rights to the Oswald character when in 2006 the Walt Disney
Company reacquired the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from NBC Universal. (Bellis, 3).
Mickey was created as a replacement for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. In the spring of 1928, Disney asked Ub Iwerks to start drawing up new
character ideas. Iwerks tried sketches of various animals, such as dogs and cats, but none of these appealed to Disney. A female cow and male
horse were also rejected. They would later turn up as Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar. Walt Disney got the inspiration for Mickey Mouse
from his old pet mouse he used to have on his farm. "Mickey Mouse popped out of my mind onto a drawing pad 20 years ago on a train ride from
Manhattan to Hollywood at a time when business fortunes of my brother Roy and myself were at lowest ebb and disaster seemed right around the
corner." (Disney, 5). Hugh Harman drew some sketches of mice around a photograph of Walt Disney. These inspired Ub Iwerks to create a new
mouse character for Disney. "Mortimer Mouse" had been Disney's original name for the character before his wife, Lillian,

birth and evolution. The pioneering gurus of TQM are presented. The chapter also discusses QA implementation, followed by common principles

Reviewing the original concepts propounded by the likes of Frederick Taylor, Henri Fayol, Max Weber, Mary Parker Follett and so on, and following
the prevailing current practices, it would appear that there is agreement on the importance of aspects related to coordination, control, physical and
human resources, and on general control over the processes to ensure the completion of set targets (Steers et al., 2010). Generally speaking,
management and leadership both entail commonalities and dissimilarities with regard to each other. Thus, Kotter (1990) observed that leadership and
management are complementary but distinctive aspects. Hence, as Mckenna (2003: 354) states, management is more concerned with the planning,
coordination, supervision, and control of routine activities, while leadership inspires a group of people to perform their best and motivates them to
excel in whatever they are doing. Such actions could be reflected in improved outcomes from the efforts made.
Bush and Bell (2006) are of the perspective that taken together, both terms relate to the affirmation of inspiring staff towards achieving set targets and
laying out goals, objectives, and missions. Any perceived differences between the two terms are tenuous since efficient organizations require both
aspects in

The Concept of Neoliberalism
Neoliberalism Neoliberalism is a concept which states that both politics and economics need to be reevaluated to respond to the sociology and the
psychology of the people that are affected. This type of social structure demands that the economic system must become less strict, and advocates
more free trade and open markets. According to Paul Treanor, "Neoliberalism is a philosophy in which the existence and operation of a market are
valued in themselves, separately from any previous relationship with the production of goods and services" (Fish). One of the most important
components of neoliberalism is the removal of big government from the business world and the allowance of state–owned enterprises to be controlled
by private citizens. Neoliberalism was a term coined by Alexander Rustow who defined it as "the priority of the price mechanism, the free enterprise,
the system of competition and a strong and impartial state" (Mirowski 13). The basic thesis behind neoliberalism is that the government needs to
evacuate their position as dominator of enterprise. Businesses should be controlled by the people and the government's function in industry only to
protect the individual participants. Chris Harman writes: This ideology contended that free market economies will run smoothly, steadily producing
more wealth. Any problems that arise are supposedly a result of "unnatural monopolies" (especially in the labour market), which prevent the free
movement of prices and wages pulling

The Consequences Of Video Games
In the modern gaming industry with main stream Role Playing Games (RPGs), the battle between the two sub genres (Western RPGs and Japanese
RPGs) have taken over the mass media discussions on which is "better" than the other. Despite this, the nominated RPGs in 2017 of Best Role–Playing
Game of the year has shown that split in the society with great games such as Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Persona 5. However, in the past Western
RPGs such as Mass Effect (2008) and Dragon Age: Origins (2009) have both won this award, dominating in the market through pandering towards the
gaming community with precise implementations and uses that draw towards the market better than Japanese RPGs.

Despite this, there is the argument about the award shows that are exclusively for either Western or Japanese video games, and whether The Game
Awards is valid in being used since Western RPGs are dominating in the community and hence the market. In fact, The Game Awards is a show that
uses an international jury and as stated before, uses companies such as Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Activision on the
advisory board in the first place. Both Nintendo and Sony Interactive Entertainment are operated in Japan and thus giving both Western RPGs and
Japanese RPGs a chance compared to a show that there isn't a bias towards a side in this controversy.
In the same fashion of immersion, the use of expression through character customization and the experience throughout the game greatly coincides
with Western RPGs rather than Japanese RPGs. This is due to the fact that in Japanese RPGs the consumer is told a story rather than being able to
be a part of the story, like in Western RPGs. As discussed in an article called "The Rise of Western RPGs" by Stace Harman (2014), in the 1980s to
early 1990s, Western RPGs developed a "complex alignments system" to help adapt the player

Interaction Sequences

1 Research Topic
An interactive system is a piece of software or a device which requires human input. It consists of a user interface which the user interacts with to
access the underlying functions, described formally in code. This allows the user to easily manipulate the system in order to complete some task. An
important subset of interactive systems is safety–critical interactive systems (a system in which errors can lead to injury or even death to the user).
Unfortunately, the testing of these systems is currently inadequate, resulting in serious harm or even fatalities (see [1] [2]).
A test is dened in the Oxford Dictionary as: A procedure intended to establish the quality, performance, or reliability of something, especially before it
is taken into widespread use"; [3]. The purpose of interactive system testing is not only to ensure that the system does what it is expected to, but also to
identify problems within the current version of the system. The resolution of these problems will help to establish the quality, performance and/or
reliability" [3] of the system and help to avoid future incidents.
In this research we propose using interaction sequences as an abstraction of the system under test to support the testing process. An interaction
sequence is the series of steps a user can take to perform a

Essay on McCarthyism and the Conservative Political...
McCarthyism and the Conservative Political Climate of Today
FOR ALMOST fifty years, the words "McCarthy" and "McCarthyism" have stood for a shameful period in American political
history. During this period, thousands of people lost their jobs and hundreds were sent to prison. TheU.S. government executed Julius and Ethel
Rosenberg, two Communist Party (CP) members, as Russian spies. All of these people were victims of McCarthyism, the witch–hunt during the 1940s
and 1950s against Communists and other leftists, trade unionists and civil rights activists, intellectuals and artists. Named for the witch–hunt's most
zealous prosecutor, Sen. Joseph McCarthy (R–Wis.), McCarthyism was the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The novel is an open, unabashed effort to turn McCarthy into a misunderstood, unappreciated hero.
It's not surprising that self–identified conservatives like Buckley would want to rehabilitate one of their heroes. But what is most disturbing about the
efforts to restore McCarthy's good name has been the pathetic response of many on the left. Anti–McCarthy historian Ellen Schrecker urged a
cease–fire on criticism of Kazan's award on the grounds that we should "separate Kazan the informer and Kazan the artist."[4] Even worse,
Miriam and Walter Schneir, who established a case for the Rosenbergs' innocence in Invitation to an Inquest,[5] now say they were wrong.
"Twenty years ago, I would have said that there weren't a significant number of American Communists who spied," liberal historian
Maurice Isserman told the New York Times Magazine. "It's no longer possible to hold that view."[6]
In all of the charges and countercharges, it is easy to lose sight of what McCarthyism meant to millions of ordinary Americans. Miriam Zahler, the
daughter of Detroit Communists, recalls:
My worst nightmare when I was seven or eight was that my mother would be taken away...as the Rosenbergs had been from [their children]. Ethel and
Julius were at the very center of my terror...I asked my mother why the Rosenbergs were in jail. For passing out some leaflets, she

Fast foods are termed as quick, easily accessible and cheap alternatives to home–cooked meals, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
They also tend to be high in saturated fat, sugar, salt and calories. According to the NIH, manyfast food chains have responded to growing public

typically the term refers to food sold in restaurants or store with preheated or precooked ingredients, and served to the customer in a packaged form ...

This question has been central to comparative political economy for many years. However, most answers to it focus on institutions in a single sphere of
the political economy. In economics, there are large but separate literatures on labor and financial markets. One explores the impact of labor
regulations, social regimes, and trade unions on growth or unemployment (Nickell 1997; OECD 1994; Calmfors/ Driffil 1988). The other considers the
effects of accounting standards, the legal standing of owners or creditors, ownership patterns, and equity or bank–based finance on levels of investment
or growth (Carlin/Mayer 1999a, 1999b; LaPorta et al. 1998a; Huang/Xu 1999; Mayer 1996). A similar separation is evident in political science.
Although neocorporatism can be defined in broad terms (cf. Katzenstein 1985; Schmitter/Lehmbruch 1978), analyses of its economic impact usually
focus on the organization of the trade union movement, considering its interaction mainly with the partisanship of governance (Cameron 1984; Alvarez
et al. 1991; Garrett 1999).1 An entirely different literature examines the structure of financial systems (Verdier 2000; Cox 1986; Zysman 1984).2
However, there are good reasons to expect interaction effects among institutions across spheres of the political economy. In recent years, significant
interaction effects have been found between monetary institutions and those governing

A Brief Study On Kentucky Fried Chicken
A Brief Study on Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Franchise

History
Kentucky Fried Chicken, popularly known as KFC, was founded by Harland Sanders. Starting from his roadside restaurant selling fried chicken in
roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, to expanding his restaurant and naming it Sanders Court and Cafe in 1937,the first franchise of this chain
opened in Utah in 1952 where he franchised his recipe to Pete Harman who was well know restaurant operator. The name KFC was quoted by a sign
painter, Don Anderson, hired by Harman, creating a distinct image of restaurant showing Southern hospitality in Utah.
Before reaching to present state of this company, KFC has been traded many times. In 1964, Sanders sold the company to John Y. Brown Jr. and
Jack C. Massey with the agreement including life time salary for him along with his appointment as company 's quality controller and trademark.
Later in July 1971, KFC was sold again to a company named Heublein, a packaged food and drink corporation. Heublein was bought by R.J.
Reynolds, the tobacco giants in 1982 and in July 1986, Reynolds sold KFC to Pepsi Co. The name Kentucky Fried Chicken was officially adopted in
1991. Further, Pepsi Co. created its independent restaurants division in 1997 and named it Tricon Global Restaurants which was renamed to Yum!
Brands in May 2002.

Furthermore, days sales outstanding improved from 79.94 days in 2007 to 75.96 in 2008 resulting in a $3.5 million improvement in working capital
in 2008. In addition, the days sales outstanding drastically jumped from 73.61 in 2009 to 94.87 in 2010. This was largely due to the new acquisition

from customer accounts that were highly uncertain collectible due to the current economic environment. These circumstances are represented in the

The Difference Between Voluntary And Forced Resignations...
Voluntary versus forced resignations of directors Voluntary resignation of directors A resignation of employment introduced by the employee or by
mutual agreement with the employer in which a letter of resignation is submitted. In most cases of voluntary resignation, employees will provide
notice of their intent to resign to allow for a more orderly transition of responsibilities. Forced resignation of directors A forced resignation is when
an employee is required to depart from their position due to some issue caused by their continued employment or may be due to the employer's
wishes to dismiss the employee, but the employer may be offering a softened firing. In a high profile position the employee may want to leave before

It all started in with a photographer named Edward Muybridge. He was a bright photographer who gained recognition by photographing animals
and humans in movement. He was hired by a rail road baron in 1872 to prove that there is a certain point in a horse's gallop, when all of the horse's
hooves are off the ground. From his success with this project he went to produce many more movement studies as he worked at the University of

times. Muybridge took a shot of the horse during every step of its movements.

Technology Advances, Hackers Get Even Smarter
As technology advances, hackers get even smarter. You think you're safe? Think again .
Sgt. Joshua M. Rivera
Abstract: This paper reflects the advancements in technology beginning with the first computer leading into the innovation of computers since the early
1800's such as the computer systems in vehicles, and explains the importance of cyber security to prevent cyber–attacks. The rapid development of
wireless computer systems within a vehicle such as GPS and Bluetooth opens up a door to the realm of vulnerability to cyber–attacks. Hackers have
successfully found breaches in the security of laptops and other computers it's only a matter of time before they master the computers in automobiles.
Scientists should be working with these automobile companies to fix the loop holes in their security before malicious hackers find them.
I. INTRODUCTION It's difficult to explain when the first computer was introduced because of the many different classifications of them. Dating back
to the early 1800's, (1822) Charles Babbage created the "Difference Engine," a device that computed sets of numbers and came to be the first
mechanical calculator. However, millennials wouldn't consider this to be a computer because it doesn't function as a modern computer does. After
Babbage's calculator, the revolution of computers took off leading to the first programmable computer, the digital computer, the minicomputer, the
desktop computer, the microprocessor, the portable

Global Health Agendas And Domestic Government 's Health...
This is where I examine the "intersection" of global health agendas and domestic government's health policies. Recipient countries are encouraged to
claim ownership for development strategies, and one way is through Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSP). These papers would be published and
submitted to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or World Bank every few years detailing where a country has come from and its strategy in the
short or medium term to reach poverty reduction goals.
The PRSP goals for both countries are aligned with the MDGs. However, although Liberia and Sierra Leone had similar health objectives in their
PRSPs, the outcomes for both countries are different. Internationally, Liberia was heralded as making the greatest progress in its health status as it
had the highest increase of life expectancy in the world (19.7 years) from 1990 to 2012 (WHO 2013). According to Nkwanga (2015), international
donors used Liberia's achievement as proof of success of the aid programs. Sierra Leone on the other hand did not garner the same achievements with
these performance–based measures. According to Health Poverty Action's report (Sharples 2015), Sierra Leone ranks very low on the Human
Development Index at 183 out of 187 countries. It had a high infant mortality rate of 107 deaths per 1,000 live births and 1165 maternal deaths for
every 100,000 live births, one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world (Sharples 2015 p. 4). However, the turmoil,

Technological change, information processing and supply chain integration: A conceptual model Purpose: Technologies change quickly in the
automotive industry. This can provide opportunities to firms from emerging economies who try to enter the world stage of automotive production,
provided they can react to this more nimbly than established competitors. How technological change affects the supply chain coordination of
incumbents from developed economies and new entrants from emerging economies should strongly determine the speed of competitive reaction. We
use the example of automotive transmission development to study this, provide a conceptual model for the analysis and offer research propositions.
Design/methodology/approach: We build a conceptual model based on information processing theory and offer research propositions based on case
study evidence of three automotive OEMs and two suppliers. Findings: Overall, we find symptoms of two larger trends: increasing specialization and
technological linkages and a need to increase external supply chain integration

  • 3. Source Code Essay There are several definition of source code, which makes regulating it difficult because different regulators may have varying conceptions of just what it is, and as a result, what kinds of rules should attach to it. The general definition of source code that most people acknowledge is "the version of software as it is originally written by a human in plain text" ( Source Code). According to this definition, code is written by humans in order to create software, which can be any operating system, program or data with a processor. The average person can see that the source code would be the code that the software needs in order to function. This is source code but source code is also much more. Another definition states holds that source code is "any fully executable description of a software system. It is therefore so construed as to include machine code, very high level languages and executable graphical representations of systems" (Harman). At first glance, it seems just like the other definition. However, it only seems that way because we automatically apply the assumption that the "executable description" is the same as the "version of software" which may not necessarily be the case. The description leads us to believe that the source code does not necessarily have to run the software but can just be a description for said software. The first definition leads us to believe that the code is that specific software. The second definition also mentions "machine code" and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Technology And Its Impact On The Business Founded in Taiwan in 1972, today CX technology is a leading supplier in cold forging and plastic injection components and parts. Originally, CX technology produced bullets and bicycle parts, however, this had changed due to shift in consumer demand towards speakers and component parts exclusively. CX Technology had the ability to deliver specific products on time, which earned the firm very significant recognition over the years. They had earned a name for themselves based on their reliability and high quality products, most of their sales revenue came from satisfied repeat customers. In 2007, Chairman Albert Ting had determined that changes needed to be made at CX Technology. He had determined that revenue was reasonably stable, however, the rate of attaining new businesses was not reassuring. CX was a leading supplier in cold forged components for speakers, however, these were a commodity product, and furthermore the supply chain was capable of possibly being consolidated. Ting needed a plan in order to secure CX Technology's future, he needed to diversify and determine a way to develop the business. Despite CX Technology blossoming in the speaker production, the company needed a contingency plan. The growth of countries like China andUnited States in the technology field would lead to the CX sales revenue. CX Technology needed another plan as an added advantage in case the company's demand reduces. This contingency plan may include the production of new products that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Short Summary : Qualitative Change A Qualitative Change, or Old Wine in a New Bottle? South–South Development Cooperation Between Brazil and Mozambique through ProSAVANA 1. Introduction At a time when Western geopolitical supremacy is on the wane and the axis of global power tilts irreversibly away from age–old hegemons, significant changes are brewing across the international development scene (Gore 2013). This climate surfaced in the wake of the agricultural push of the 21st century in the aftermath of the world food price and energy crises (UNCTAD 2009) which, combined with the vast portfolio of questionable outcomes and unmaterialised promises amassed over decades of North–led initiatives and capital flows poured into Southern nations in the name of a prГЄt–Г –porter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the home to what is praised as one of the greatest triumphs in agricultural history (JICA 2011), Brazil has increasingly projected itself as an alternative to Northern aid (Cabral & Weinstock 2010) within this emerging framework, in particular in Africa (Vaz & Inoue 2008). This study thus asks whether the South–South experiment as articulated by Brazil poses a new model of international development cooperation that de facto constitutes something different (White 2013) from and qualitatively better (Burges 2012) than the inherently vertical and inequality–reinforcing (Six 2009) paradigm put forth by the Development Assistance Committee (DAC)–dominated, conditionality–based regime. While the possibility that the very same asymmetries might be repeated among Southern countries has been raised before (Cesarino 2012; Mawdsley 2011), no satisfactory answer has yet been found. Crucially, empirically–grounded research on Brazil's South–South agenda is relatively scarce in terms of how it has been constructed and is operating. Accordingly, the present work aims to bridge these gaps and contribute to the wider scholarly debate on the actual novelty of SSDC by analysing ProSAVANA, a highly ambitious and controversial trilateral cooperation programme run by the Brazilian, Japanese and Mozambican governments which aims to "create new agricultural development models" (FGV Projetos 2013; ProSAVANA n.d.) for rural areas in Mozambique and is inspired by the transformation of ... • 7. America Is A Melting Pot America is a melting pot made up of people from many different races and ethnic backgrounds, so why are the American news broadcasters predominantly white men in their late forties? News represents the American society so therefore American broadcasters should reflect society as a whole. In addition, many people consider news anchors role models and it is important to see themselves represented and trust their news source. The lack of diversity among newscasters impacts the audience's reception of the news. People are more likely to trust news sources that they relate to and identify with. Many people do not even notice the lack of diversity or understand the impact it has on society. There needs to be more of an effort to reflect diversity among our newscasters to correct the history of discrimination, to accurately reflect the audience and to provide role models and promote positive images. The United States is called a "melting pot " because the the varied groups of people that live in the country and interact every day, but the country also has an ugly history or discrimination against women and minorities. By Nathan Batalion, ND We are confronted with what is undoubtedly the single most potent technology the world has ever known – more powerful even than atomic energy. Yet it is being released throughout our environment and deployed with superficial or no risk assessments– as if no one needs to worry an iota about its unparalleled powers to harm life as we know it – and for all future generations. What 's wrong then with the "advance" of genetic engineering? No doubt, with hybridizations conscious life is manipulated. But living organisms continue to make some primary genetic decisions amid limited selections. We can understand this with an analogy. There is an immense difference between being a matchmaker and inviting two people to a dinner party, to meet and see if they are compatible. This differs essentially from forcing their meeting and union or a violent date rape. The former act may be divine, and the latter considered criminal. The implication is that biotechnology involves vital moral issues in regard to the whole of life in nature. With biotechnology, roses are no longer crossed with just roses. They are mated with pigs, tomatoes with oak trees, fish with asses, butterflies with worms, orchids with snakes. The technology that makes this all possible is called biolistics – a gunshot–like violence that pierces the nuclear membrane of cells. This essentially violates not just the core chambers of life (physically crossing nuclear membranes) but the conscious–choice principle that is part of living nature 's essence. Some also compare it to the violent crossing of territorial borders of countries, subduing inhabitants against their will. What will happen if this

This conventional impression of World War II results from American propaganda, along with misinterpretations of related events. Quite the contrary, the United States' foreign policy, especially during World War II, was driven by imperialist goals rather than humanitarian concern. These foreign interventions are usually justified using political ideologies that advocate the spread of democracy but the United States government fails to act in the interests of the common people in other countries; instead, the US government intervened in foreign countries to protect its own needs and those of its private corporations. In addition, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To top it off, the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor gave the Americans a legitimate reason to join the war and to portray their intervention as a strictly defensive and protective one. Claiming to spread democracy and stunt the spread of fascism, the United States managed to build its reputation as a protector of the weak, despite its subtle plans to build an American empire. East Asia was an important region of American influence; its strategic location, with its trade routes, for example, had the potential to offer the US a strong foothold in the Pacific region and the upper hand over the Soviet Union. As a result, the use of the atomic weapons in Japan was a significant issue between Russia and the United States; as put in A People's History of the World, the American decision to use the nuclear bomb against Japan in August 1945 "was clearly motivated, at least in part, by a desire to show Stalin the enormity of the destructive power at its disposal." The US had already developed the technology yet the decision to use the weapon was a debatable one, despite President Truman's statements justifying the decision on the basis that a Japanese invasion would cost less American lives. Right next to Japan, the Open Door policy in China was important to American investors and proved to be very profitable, too. As long as Japan and the United States shared the exploitation of ... • 13. Amazon 's Financial Reporting Model Essay The company I selected is Amazon, Inc.com and it's considered the "everything store". It supply's consumers with low prices from supplying vendors at a cheaper shipping rate included because of the companies contracts with United States Postal Services and UPS. All companies must follow specific orders and guidelines to do business in the United States. The SEC, or Securities and Exchange Commission, is the government entity that is responsible for looking after the economy by keeping corporations and businesses honest. Each company must file their financial reports to the SEC and have a chance of being audited by the PCAOB, or Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Amazon Inc. com is one of those businesses. Amazon's financial reporting model has assumptions and principles, there are individuals responsible for overseeing the accounting professions and they must file an annual report as well as a 10–K and 10–Q report, and many disclosures that are available to the public. They base these conditions on how their projections will change in regards to their earnings, cash flow, revenue, and balance sheets. This new Oswald model was adapted directly from a non–Oswald character in another Lantz cartoon: the Cinecolor "Fox and the Rabbit" (1935), released some two months earlier as the last of the early Glogovac – 4 Cartune Classics series. It subsequently took his company 78 years to get back the rights to the Oswald character when in 2006 the Walt Disney Company reacquired the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from NBC Universal. (Bellis, 3). Mickey was created as a replacement for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. In the spring of 1928, Disney asked Ub Iwerks to start drawing up new character ideas. Iwerks tried sketches of various animals, such as dogs and cats, but none of these appealed to Disney. A female cow and male horse were also rejected. They would later turn up as Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar. Walt Disney got the inspiration for Mickey Mouse from his old pet mouse he used to have on his farm. "Mickey Mouse popped out of my mind onto a drawing pad 20 years ago on a train ride from Manhattan to Hollywood at a time when business fortunes of my brother Roy and myself were at lowest ebb and disaster seemed right around the corner." (Disney, 5). Hugh Harman drew some sketches of mice around a photograph of Walt Disney. These inspired Ub Iwerks to create a new mouse character for Disney. Reviewing the original concepts propounded by the likes of Frederick Taylor, Henri Fayol, Max Weber, Mary Parker Follett and so on, and following the prevailing current practices, it would appear that there is agreement on the importance of aspects related to coordination, control, physical and human resources, and on general control over the processes to ensure the completion of set targets (Steers et al., 2010). Generally speaking, management and leadership both entail commonalities and dissimilarities with regard to each other. Thus, Kotter (1990) observed that leadership and management are complementary but distinctive aspects. Hence, as Mckenna (2003: 354) states, management is more concerned with the planning, coordination, supervision, and control of routine activities, while leadership inspires a group of people to perform their best and motivates them to excel in whatever they are doing. Such actions could be reflected in improved outcomes from the efforts made. Bush and Bell (2006) are of the perspective that taken together, both terms relate to the affirmation of inspiring staff towards achieving set targets and laying out goals, objectives, and missions. • 27. The Concept of Neoliberalism Neoliberalism Neoliberalism is a concept which states that both politics and economics need to be reevaluated to respond to the sociology and the psychology of the people that are affected. This type of social structure demands that the economic system must become less strict, and advocates more free trade and open markets. According to Paul Treanor, "Neoliberalism is a philosophy in which the existence and operation of a market are valued in themselves, separately from any previous relationship with the production of goods and services" (Fish). One of the most important components of neoliberalism is the removal of big government from the business world and the allowance of state–owned enterprises to be controlled by private citizens. Neoliberalism was a term coined by Alexander Rustow who defined it as "the priority of the price mechanism, the free enterprise, the system of competition and a strong and impartial state" (Mirowski 13). The basic thesis behind neoliberalism is that the government needs to evacuate their position as dominator of enterprise. Businesses should be controlled by the people and the government's function in industry only to protect the individual participants. Chris Harman writes: This ideology contended that free market economies will run smoothly, steadily producing more wealth. Any problems that arise are supposedly a result of "unnatural monopolies" (especially in the labour market), which prevent the free movement of prices and wages pulling ... In fact, The Game Awards is a show that uses an international jury and as stated before, uses companies such as Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Activision on the advisory board in the first place. Both Nintendo and Sony Interactive Entertainment are operated in Japan and thus giving both Western RPGs and Japanese RPGs a chance compared to a show that there isn't a bias towards a side in this controversy. In the same fashion of immersion, the use of expression through character customization and the experience throughout the game greatly coincides with Western RPGs rather than Japanese RPGs. • 29. Supporting Interactive System Testing With Interaction... Supporting Interactive System Testing with Interaction Sequences Jessica Turner Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Waikato August 13, 2015 1 Research Topic An interactive system is a piece of software or a device which requires human input. It consists of a user interface which the user interacts with to access the underlying functions, described formally in code. This allows the user to easily manipulate the system in order to complete some task. An important subset of interactive systems is safety–critical interactive systems (a system in which errors can lead to injury or even death to the user). Unfortunately, the testing of these systems is currently inadequate, resulting in serious harm or even fatalities (see [1] [2]). A test is dened in the Oxford Dictionary as: A procedure intended to establish the quality, performance, or reliability of something, especially before it is taken into widespread use"; [3]. The purpose of interactive system testing is not only to ensure that the system does what it is expected to, but also to identify problems within the current version of the system. The resolution of these problems will help to establish the quality, performance and/or reliability" [3] of the system and help to avoid future incidents. In this research we propose using interaction sequences as an abstraction of the system under test to support the testing process. An interaction sequence is the series of steps a user can take to perform a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anti–McCarthy historian Ellen Schrecker urged a cease–fire on criticism of Kazan's award on the grounds that we should "separate Kazan the informer and Kazan the artist."[4] Even worse, Miriam and Walter Schneir, who established a case for the Rosenbergs' innocence in Invitation to an Inquest,[5] now say they were wrong. This question has been central to comparative political economy for many years. However, most answers to it focus on institutions in a single sphere of the political economy. In economics, there are large but separate literatures on labor and financial markets. One explores the impact of labor regulations, social regimes, and trade unions on growth or unemployment (Nickell 1997; OECD 1994; Calmfors/ Driffil 1988). The other considers the effects of accounting standards, the legal standing of owners or creditors, ownership patterns, and equity or bank–based finance on levels of investment or growth (Carlin/Mayer 1999a, 1999b; LaPorta et al. 1998a; Huang/Xu 1999; Mayer 1996). A similar separation is evident in political science. Although neocorporatism can be defined in broad terms (cf. Katzenstein 1985; Schmitter/Lehmbruch 1978), analyses of its economic impact usually focus on the organization of the trade union movement, considering its interaction mainly with the partisanship of governance (Cameron 1984; Alvarez et al. 1991; Garrett 1999).1 An entirely different literature examines the structure of financial systems (Verdier 2000; Cox 1986; Zysman 1984).2 However, there are good reasons to expect interaction effects among institutions across spheres of the political economy. • 45. Edward Muybridge's Photography It all started in with a photographer named Edward Muybridge. He was a bright photographer who gained recognition by photographing animals and humans in movement. He was hired by a rail road baron in 1872 to prove that there is a certain point in a horse's gallop, when all of the horse's hooves are off the ground. From his success with this project he went to produce many more movement studies as he worked at the University of Pennsylvania. Muybridge used a process called freeze frame to create this study. Freeze frame is used when a single shot is printed in a frame several times. Muybridge took a shot of the horse during every step of its movements. From there in 1892 Emil Reynaud invented the Praxinoscope. This was a theatrical Zoetrope that had mirrors placed on the inside so that he sequenced drawings that are inside of the drum reflect of the mirrors like a projector. From there nothing really big happens until the 1900's. In 1900, Stuart Blackton creates a prototype of animation, "The Enchanted Drawing". Rivera Abstract: This paper reflects the advancements in technology beginning with the first computer leading into the innovation of computers since the early 1800's such as the computer systems in vehicles, and explains the importance of cyber security to prevent cyber–attacks. The rapid development of wireless computer systems within a vehicle such as GPS and Bluetooth opens up a door to the realm of vulnerability to cyber–attacks. Hackers have successfully found breaches in the security of laptops and other computers it's only a matter of time before they master the computers in automobiles. Scientists should be working with these automobile companies to fix the loop holes in their security before malicious hackers find them. I. INTRODUCTION It's difficult to explain when the first computer was introduced because of the many different classifications of them. Dating back to the early 1800's, (1822) Charles Babbage created the "Difference Engine," a device that computed sets of numbers and came to be the first mechanical calculator. However, millennials wouldn't consider this to be a computer because it doesn't function as a modern computer does. After Babbage's calculator, the revolution of computers took off leading to the first programmable computer, the digital computer, the minicomputer, the desktop computer, the microprocessor, the portable ... • 50. Global Health Agendas And Domestic Government 's Health... This is where I examine the "intersection" of global health agendas and domestic government's health policies. Recipient countries are encouraged to claim ownership for development strategies, and one way is through Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSP). These papers would be published and submitted to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or World Bank every few years detailing where a country has come from and its strategy in the short or medium term to reach poverty reduction goals. The PRSP goals for both countries are aligned with the MDGs. However, although Liberia and Sierra Leone had similar health objectives in their PRSPs, the outcomes for both countries are different. Internationally, Liberia was heralded as making the greatest progress in its health status as it had the highest increase of life expectancy in the world (19.7 years) from 1990 to 2012 (WHO 2013). According to Nkwanga (2015), international donors used Liberia's achievement as proof of success of the aid programs. Sierra Leone on the other hand did not garner the same achievements with these performance–based measures. According to Health Poverty Action's report (Sharples 2015), Sierra Leone ranks very low on the Human Development Index at 183 out of 187 countries. It had a high infant mortality rate of 107 deaths per 1,000 live births and 1165 maternal deaths for every 100,000 live births, one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world (Sharples 2015 p. 4). This can provide opportunities to firms from emerging economies who try to enter the world stage of automotive production, provided they can react to this more nimbly than established competitors. How technological change affects the supply chain coordination of incumbents from developed economies and new entrants from emerging economies should strongly determine the speed of competitive reaction. We use the example of automotive transmission development to study this, provide a conceptual model for the analysis and offer research propositions. Design/methodology/approach: We build a conceptual model based on information processing theory and offer research propositions based on case study evidence of three automotive OEMs and two suppliers. Findings: Overall, we find symptoms of two larger trends: increasing specialization and technological linkages and a need to increase external supply chain integration ...
