In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions
of real media products?
2. Masthead
I placed my masthead in the left
hand third, I used a bold text so that
it stands out on its own from the
page. I chose to put the masthead in
black font so that it had a
continuous style to the rest of my
font.
Featuring Artist
I put the name of the featuring artist
to the right of the main image so it
made it obvious that was her name.
The name being written in black
then further ties in with the theme
of my magazine. It has a strong and
bold impact.
Skyline
This skyline focuses on the themes
of rap and relates it in further with
my genre of music.
Main Image
I tried to tie my image in with the
genre of my music, with a provocative
feel to it. I made sure there were
elements of the fashion fo rap
included in my main image, lots of
gold rings and skimpy outfits. Facing
straight ahead and forming eye
contact with the reader, this is
convetional of a magazine.
Text
I placed minimal text on my front
cover, its simplicity makes a bolder
and strong statement to its reader of
the power of the model/artist in the
industry.
Puff
A puff has been used to target other
elements of the magazine to draw the
reader in further.
3. My media product uses the a large majority of proper forms and
conventions of a media product, in this case a magazine. This is shown in
the fact that the masthead is in the left hand third of the magazine.
I made the model look straight into the camera for the photograph, this is
a form and convetions of this media product, forming eye contact with
the reader and connecting on a more intimate level with the audience.
The consistency of my colour theme throughout my magazine conforms
to forms and conventions of this media product as it sticks to a constant
house style.
I used forms and conventions of real media products by capital letters,
punctuation and puffs.
6. My main image is of the featuring artist so that it is
clear who the article is about and engages the interest
of the audience and reader.
I have used two images on the page to showcase her
further.
The article and interview of the artist is written in
columns making it far easier for the reader to navigate
through. This conforms to the forms and conventions of
this media product.
The colour scheme sticks to the house style of red and
black. The questions are all written in these colours,
rotating from the interviewer to the interviewee. This is
so the question first grabs the readers attention for
them to persue reading the interview.
The headline is of the featuring artists name so it is
automatically clear who the article is about . The writing
is simple and very easy to read.
The use of a standfirst really entices the reader to look
further into the article. This conforms to the forms and
conventions of this media product.
