International American University

Dear Mr. Doan:
Enclosed please find a copy of the Readiness Assessment Report completed on November 30, 2013. The assessment
states that the International American University (IAU) is reasonably ready to undergo an on-site visit.
As stated in the report, we remind you that the Readiness Assessment is intended to be a helpful resource to IAU as it
prepares for an on-site visit within the next year. This report is not intended to cover all aspects that will be addressed
by a full committee of examiners, any of whom may discover conditions requiring that accreditation be denied.
IAU is cautioned that a full visiting committee, the subject specialist(s), and the Accrediting Commission may report
new findings and written recommendations. Each of the above mentioned members will have access to all of the
reports associated with the IAU’s accreditation process.
The next step in the accreditation process is for IAU is to submit curriculum materials for review by a subject
specialist(s). Please review C.5. Policy on Course/Program Approvals as the university prepares the curriculum
materials. In order for IAU to undergo a visit in the fall of 2014, the university must submit its curriculum material
no later than March 3, 2013. Please email a course/program listing to Ms. Lissette Hubbard at Lissette@detc.org
prior to curriculum submission.
The Director of Accreditation will work with the institution to schedule a date for the on-site visit. Once the date is
set, the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) will provide additional information about the visit. Please
note that the updated Self-Evaluation Report (SER) should be sent to the on-site team four to six weeks prior to the
scheduled visit.
We look forward to working with the IAU as preparations are made for an initial accreditation visit. As always, we
invite your comments relating to the accreditation process independent of written responses for any reports provided
by DETC.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if we may be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Nan Bayster Ridgeway
Director of Accreditation
