Simple, Complex, and Compound Sentences Exercises.pdf
Writing feedback
1. WRITING FEEDBACK
- It’s very important to read the TASK. Some of you did not read the task and
you answered to a different task.
- No organization of ideas, no ideas and content (you have to mention something
about each of the aspects given).
- If it’s an email in a formal style you must follow the structure of an email (with
an introduction and an ending) and include expressions of formal letters, be
careful with register (no contractions, no “simple” words, a more elaborated
structures needed) SEE BLOG WRITING SECTION
- Be careful with connectors, use them properly. Some of you still have problems
with them. SEE BLOG WRITING AND CONNECTORS
- GRAMMAR. Too many basic mistakes, (remember adjectives before the nouns
and with no s, right use of tenses, don’t repeat the subject of the sentence,
prepositions are followed by –ing, the verb as a subject is followed by –ing…)
- SPELLING MISTAKES (be careful with although, thing, wonderful, writing…)
you need to check your writing more…
- VARIETY. No variety in lexis nor in structures. You could have used some
personality adjectives, family relationships expressions, vocabulary related to
money and work, etc… Some of you still use basic structures. (remember to use
used to, comparatives, relatives, wish, not only…but also, rather..., phrasal
verbs, use of adverbs+ adjectives, passive voice, and different tenses.
Try to work on your writing skills. You need to do more readings and practice your
writing every day: copy sentences, invent dialogues, write summaries, copy
expressions, make dictations…
Go to the WRITING SECTION and revise connectors and some useful expressions
for each piece of writing.
