The Absurd Geniuses Of All Time
Samuel Beckett, regarded as one of the best Theater of the Absurd geniuses of all time, is an Irish
playwright and director of the avant–garde. Living in Paris France for the majority of his life, he
wrote in both English and French. Using bleak and hopeless themes, his works depict a harsh attack
on realism and challenge the very meaning of life. Beckett's works opened the world of theater to
many interesting possibilities in drama and fiction. He introduced to theater and novel the idea that
the existence of human life is absurd, an idea that is prominent in his writings. Born and raised in
Ireland, he excelled in his education at Dublin University and Campbell College before moving to
Paris in 1928. Here he was introduced to the profound Irish author, James Joyce, who is regarded as
one of the most influential and important authors of the 20th century. Beckett and Joyce assisted in
each other's writings, including the book, Finnegans Wake (1939). Finnegans Wake shows some of
Beckett's darkness with its themes of sin interpreted in a dreamlike state. This book also inspired
Beckett's more comedic approach to the dark and depressing themes in most of his works.
Assumption (1929), written by Beckett, was his first of many stories. Consisting of various themes
of human nature and Irish folklore, this story was the first of many that could be considered as
difficult to understand or just gibberish, due to its syntax being strained to incomprehensibility. The
story contains

Meaning-Reconstruction Model Essay
This paper will examine how traumatic grief, caused by loss of a parent, presents itself as a
condition in children, and is experienced as a clinical syndrome of separation distress and yearning,
and is the central feature of the DSM V– Code of Bereavement (Edgar–Bailey and Kress, 2010).
The research examined will further explain how this kind of traumatic grief is experienced by
children between the ages of seven and 12 (i.e. a significant condition of traumatic grief, excluding
cases of suicide and homicide) and within their specific Western culture and community. The
Meaning–Reconstruction Model (MRM) provides clarification, according to Lister, S. et al. (2008)
and best supports how complex grief and loss can be released and processed. The MRM helps the
child (similar to the process of a bereaving adult according to Bowlby, 1980) find new ... Show

1). By externalizing with the creation of an art product, according to Malchiodi (2003) "a drawing,
painting, or collage of the presenting problem is a natural way of separating the person from the
problem because through art, the problem becomes visible. It allows the person to literally see the
problem and think about it as something outside him or herself" (Abromowitz, K, 2013, p.15). In
this way, children can separate themselves from the object to rediscover new meaning of this tacit
dimension.
Farrelly–Hansen (2001) suggest that art–making is inherently spiritual, and "spirituality is an
important ingredient in therapy or in becoming more whole. It is essentially a search for meaning,
new answers and fresh perspectives" (Renzenbrink, 2012, p. 205). In this way, hope can restore a
child's grieving heart and spirit from experiencing the loss of a parent through art–making – a
positive reconstructive process (i.e. the

Creationism vs. Evolution Essay
Creationism is the theory that man, the earth, and the rest of the universe was originally created
rather than randomly exploding from nothingness into chance existence. We reside on the surface of
a small superbly crafted, autonomous self regulating space vehicle. Together with survival, conquest
and death we bear witness to beauty, fragrances, love and music. Think about this. Mathematics,
philosophy, springtime, depravity, farming, courtship, quasars, and iphones; all came from
nothingness?, formed by chance......?
Of all the generations thus far to inhabit the Earth, we have the least excuse for not recognizing the

An Analysis of the Arguably Unified Poem, Beowulf Essay...
An Analysis of the Arguably Unified Poem, Beowulf
Beowulf as a less than unified work, more important for its historical and philological content than
its literary merit, and critics after him regard Beowulf as a unified work of art. For example, of the
critics who discuss the poem as a whole in An Anthology of Beowulf Criticism, most agree pace
Tolkien that Beowulf is a unified poem, even if they argue so on different grounds. Burton Raffel's
introduction to his own translation offers a particularly exuberant example of post–Tolkien Beowulf
criticism:
[W]e are remarkably lucky to have [Beowulf]: not only is it unique, the sole survivor of what might
have been a thriving epic tradition, but it is great poetry. Approached as an ... Show more content on

It is primarily for these reasons that critics prior to Tolkien argue against the unity of Beowulf.
Though this paper agrees more with Tolkien and Raffel, it does not assume the self–evident unity of
Beowulf; rather it will briefly review and assess the main issues relevant to the question of the
poem's unity, of which there are three: (1) Beowulf's structure, (2) the significance of its subject
matter, and (3) its thematic unity. One possible caveat here is that modern ideas about artistic unity
do not apply to Beowulf. H. L. Rogers makes this claim, for example. However, Aristotle presented
sophisticated ideas about poetic unity long before Beowulf, and hence there is no reason to believe
that Old English authors had "primitive" notions of artistic unity. Moreover, those who argue against
the single authorship of Beowulf already apply "modern" standards of unity to support their case, as
Rogers indeed does. Thus there should be no great objection to applying these standards in support
of the opposing view.
The prima facie evidence for the structural unity of the poem is strong. The narrative centers around
three fight scenes that parallel one another and link together part one and part two. In each part, a
monster plagues a helpless people, and Beowulf comes to the rescue. Throughout this basic
narrative, there are themes of kingly wisdom and tribal loyalty, descriptions

Hercule Poirot: He was the main detective and investigator in the A.B.C. murders. He is a very

The second letter came on the 24th of July. This next letter taunted Poirot and told him that the
second murder was going to take place in Bexhill–on–Sea, the next day. Poirot and Hastings had a
pretty good idea that the person to be killed would be one with the last name starting with "B," but
they could not be sure.
In the morning they received a report that a murder took place at about midnight. The victim was
Elizabeth Barnard. She had been killed on the beach and another A.B.C. was found near her. There
had been no reports of her missing until the next morning. They now knew that they were up against
a homicidal murderer.
(3)
They received a third letter on the 30th. Once again it made fun of Poirot and said that the next
murder would take place on the 30th at Churston. They rushed to get to Churston, but it was too
late. Sir Carmichal Clarke had been killed. There again were no witnesses to this murder.
The fourth letter said that there would be a murder at Doncastor. All of the closest friends or family
were gathered with them there. They attended a big concert because that's where they though the
murder would take place. When they found the dead body it was George Earlsfield. The murderer
was going to kill Mr. Downes, but in the dark he hadn't noticed that Mr. Downes had moved from
his seat. They were about

Different Perspectives Of Police Corruption In Don...
The tacit and fundamental understanding of a policeman's duty is to obey the law when
implementing the law but reality begs to differ as police corruption is a familiar issue in our society.
Denny Malone is a significant tragic hero in Don Winslow's "The Force" that demonstrates the
different perspectives of police corruption through the weaknesses of human nature. As readers go
on a whirlwind journey with Malone to an ultimately tragic ending, he reveals a lot more than what
meets the eye about police corruption. Although Malone is seen as a heroic cop in the eyes of the
public, he is seen as the most despicable cop in the eyes of criminals and other dishonorable cops.
Nevertheless, his path to redemption shows the many flaws of the justice system such as the
financial temptations policemen encounter, exposure to violence that causes mental health problems,
and the overwhelming external and internal pressures they face. First and foremost, the median
hourly rate for police officers in Canada is about $29. That is not a great deal considering this rate
applies to all ranks of police officers, the lowest starting from $14 (Payscale). This brings up the
query of whether police officers are being paid enough. As those who are the first line of defense
with any crime, from small to big, many argue their jobs are one of the most physically and
mentally draining. At the end of the day, police officers are people who still need to return home and

Langston Hughes Research Paper
A talented poet is someone who can tackle a fundamental idea by conveying them using certain
words, rhythms, and images. Hughes was an African American writer during the Harlem
Renaissance, and his poetry remained the reason Hughes became so notorious. He wasn't naturally
poetic, but the environment he was put in that caused him to use the excellent command of diction
and syntax. The situations Langston Hughes have been put in through his life has caused him to
compose the poetry that he has written.

University in Pennsylvania. In 1929 Hughes graduates from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of
Arts degree. After he graduates, he moves to New York City, which he calls home for the rest of his
life. By the time Hughes received his degree in 1929, he had helped launch the influential magazine
Fire!!, in 1926, and he had also published a second collection of poetry, Fine Clothes to the Jew
(1927), Fine Clothes to the Jew was well received by the literary magazines and the white press, but
the Negro critics did not like it at all. The Pittsburgh Courier ran a big headline across the top of the

Amsterdam News was LANGSTON HUGHES–THE SEWER DWELLER. The Chicago Whip
characterized me as 'the poet low–rate of Harlem.' Others called the book a disgrace to the race, a

Brokeback Mountain Research Paper
In this essay I will be writing about how happiness to some extent can be achieved for the characters
within the film but how the majority of aspects to the narrative cause both Jack and Ennis to be
unhappy and how both are dually to blame for this. Despite some slight bursts of happiness within
the film I will also be mentioning that although the two men's desires working against each other to
make them unhappy, the fact that Ennis represents the expectations and fears of 1960's small town
American society – the ultimate cause for the pair barely having a chance at happiness and who and
what of each of the characters, situations and society is to blame.

When Jack goes back to Joe to find out about working for him the summer after Jack and Ennis met
on Brokeback Mountain, Joe lets Jack know that he knew what they were up to on the mountain and
that there wouldn't be any work for him at all, him or Ennis. Joe finding out about their relationship
wasn't the only thing that happened, Alma also found out about Ennis and Jack. When the pair
finally meet up again after a few years apart, they throw their arms around each other and bring their
faces so close together and almost kiss out in plain sight when Ennis realises and throws Jack into a
closed off space and kisses him so rough all the while, Alma is watching from the window
overlooking the space where the pair are hiding and kissing. After two instances of people finding
out about their secret relationship, of which Alma threatens to tell people about later in the film,
Ennis cannot commit to Jack in fear of the relationship they have together, he says "this thing, it
grabs hold of us again... at the wrong place... at the wrong time... and we're dead." An example of
this is that a few years before Brokeback Mountain was made and released, there had been a killing
of a young man called Matthew Shepard who had been beaten, tortured and left to die by the side of
the road in such a remote area that when he was found there was no possible way he could

The main aim of the present research is to study how Pragmatics works as a torch in the
appreciation of literature. Pragmatics is associated with the study of meaning as communicated by a
speaker and interpreted by a listener. This type of study necessarily involves the interpretation of
what people mean in a particular context and how the context influences what is said. It requires a
consideration of how the speakers organize what they want to say and under what circumstances. It

Molloy Response Essay
Samuel Beckett's Molloy is divided into two parts. The first part begins with the narrator, Molloy,
who is being driven to write for an unknown reason and by an unknown person. At the end of the
first paragraph, Molloy says: "Here is my beginning" (Beckett 8). Molloy's account of "what
happens" isn't organized as a narrative; in a way; Molloy is Beckett's portrait of what would happen
if someone who didn't tell stories was compelled to tell one. He begins not even with the pseudo–
quest of going to see his mother but with some observations of two people, A and C. From there, he
tells of the pleasures of being on his bicycle, which he says he will not call a bike. It is after these
accounts that he reveals a fraught relationship with his mother; ... Show more content on

It wasn't until I listened to the audiobook while driving. I don't know what it is, but I think being so

Molloy can be interpreted in many ways; some may have interpreted Molloy in a completely
different way than I did. Personally, I found the novel to have many depressing and unfortunate
events, but someone else may have thought of these events differently. Molloy is definitely one of
those novels that can have different meaning depending on who's reading it. I remember listening to

Monsters And The Core Program
Monsters and Villains in the Core Program Monsters and villains have been a very crucial part in
Core 3 and Core 4. We have read some of the most well none villains in Core including Humbaba
from Gilgamesh, Polyphemus from The Odyssey, Grendel from Beowulf, and Iago from Othello.
Teratology is the study of monsters and throughout Core we have learned some of the characteristics
that are monsters have in common. Mostly all the monsters that we have studied reveals society's
fears or something wrong with society. We furthered this discussion by figuring out why these
villains did such evil acts. In this paper, I will discuss the monsters we have studied in Core 3 and 4
and then compare and contrast their stories and monstrous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is almost strange when one thinks of a monster asking for forgiveness. Revisiting the story I
start to notice that Humbaba is not necessarily and evil person. Humbaba does not stay in the forest
and protects it like an ogre protects his swamp, he was placed there. Humbaba was placed at the
Cedar Forest by Enlil, the king of the gods, to protect the forest (Gilgamesh, 133). Humbaba was
just doing his job, guarding the trees so that humans would not cut them down and destroy them.
Another villain that we read in Core 3 comes from the story of The Odyssey. Polyphemus is the
gigantic one eye monster that Odysseus meets on his way back home. Odysseus stops at his island
and Polyphemus then catches them and takes Odysseus and his crew as prisoners and for food.
Although Polyphemus is a powerful being, son of Poseidon, he is not the brightest. Polyphemus is
freely convinced that Odysseus's name is "Nobody". When he realizes that his name is "Nobody",
Odysseus starts to stab his eye in the hope of getting away. This causes some disorientation
especially when Polyphemus screams to his fellow giants that "Nobody" is hurting him (Odyssey ).
Polyphemus was not the only monster that was in The Odyssey, there was also Polyphemus and
Humbaba were the two monsters that we focused on in Core 3, now I will discuss the villains we
encountered in Core 4. In Beowulf there was many monsters that include Grendel, Grendel's mother,
and the Dragon.

Also known as The New Negro Movement, the Harlem Renaissance was an abstract and scholarly
blooming that encouraged African American social character in the 1920s and 1930s. The
movement was mainly caused by racial tensions in the southern United States after World War I.
Many of the African–Americans who had served in World War I were angered by the prejudice that
they confronted when they came back. Furthermore, the African Americans working in farms had
very low pay. Even though they did backbreaking work for long hours, they did not receive their fair

He would read it and analyze the texts to the point where he knew all about its inconsistencies.
"Each Gospel was a murky mixture of fact, rumor, legend, and myth..." (Berry 324). "There are too
many examples of contradictions for us to simply dismiss them as intentional."(Berry 325–6). John,
one of the gospel authors, wanted to identify Jesus with passover lambs. So his Gospel identified
that Jesus was crucified at the same time the Passover lambs were slaughtered. The Gospels are
openly written to convince people and encourage people of a particular message regarding Jesus.
Was it really important which day of the week Jesus was crucified? Lack of agreement with other
Gospel writers regarding Jesus' death did not mean his writings were incorrect. The crucifixion has
been used as a tool to tell the story and communicate the religious message. "And the Gospel of
Thomas, which is to them perhaps the closest we have to what Jesus may actually have said, since it
has not been subjected to countless translations." (Berry 340). The above quote suggests that the
New Testament has been radically changed many times from its original content deliberately. Steve
Berry mentions that the NT (New Testament) was originally written in Greek. The many translations
span from Greek to languages all over the world. So how much did the powerful Catholic Churches
change the original to benefit their power position in the different languages? The best NT
manuscripts dates back to first and second centuries before the appearance of the powerful body,
"Church". Throughout Thorvaldsen's lecture to Stephanie about the inconsistency of the Gospels,
Stephanie makes naive comments about faith which Thorvaldsen easily defeats with simple logic.
And here, he counters Stephanie's remark about inerrancy with the charge that the Bible is not
literal, and basically tells her that she's naive, and that Christians throughout the ages were naive
too. "There's

As one attempts to have a closer and more personal relationship, the other pulls back. Estragon fears
becoming too intimate with Vladimir because he wants to keep his masculinity. The chasm between
Vladimir and Estragon continued to grow throughout the play. Within Fight Club, the characters
show love but in a sense of ownership in order to hold their masculine title. They also are afraid to
love in hopes of becoming vulnerable. Palahniuk wrote, 'This isn't about love in caring. This is
about property as in ownership" (Palahniuk 14). This view of love is not positive, as it is used to
control others. However, there is irony within this because none of the characters within the novel
want to be controlled. Not falling in love can also serve as a reason to uphold masculinity. The

psychological problems are the reason that made him an even bigger star than he was just off his

This was the new start of his bad boy and bizarre attitude that garnered a great deal of attention to
him through the media when he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs. When he first arrived to the
Spurs he started coloring his hair strange colors. He stayed highlighted in the media by pulling
antics like saying he was getting married, inviting the media there, and walking down the wedding
isle wearing a brides` dress and said, "I am marrying myself." Dennis also started piecing and
tattooing all over his body as well; he also was in the media for two of his most popular relationship
with Carmen Electra and Madonna. He was known for doing interviews at odd places like at gay
bars. Even from 1997–2004 he was involve with wrestling even wrestling with fellow NBA Star
Karl Malone, and generally teaming up with wrestling phenomenon Hulk Hogan. His bizarre antics
landed him a couple movie deals earning quite a few huge paychecks in the box office. Take what
you want from Dennis Rodman, even with all the bizarre antics, he brought phenomenal skills set to
the NBA no matter what team he played for the, Piston, Spurs, Bulls, Lakers, and Mavericks. His
contributions to teams helped win the NBA Finals 5 times, two with the Detroit Pistons (1989–

Characters, Loyalty, and Violence in Hinton's The...
In The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton the author used three main points such as characters, loyalty and
violence. The main character of the story, Ponyboy, is fourteen years old. He along with his brothers
and his best friend joins a gang on the east side called the greasers, who are poor and wild and also
reckless because they have nobody who will take care of them and show them the right way to do
things so they have to do everything by themselves (Hinton 24). Ponyboy has two brothers who live
together when their parents died (Hinton 13). The oldest brother Darrell gave up college to work on
roofs so that he will be able to take care of his brothers Ponyboy and Sodapop. Sodapop works at a
gas station so he can also help his brother Darrell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

gets a smart attitude with a character named Bob, after words were exchanged Ponyboy spit in Bob's
face, causing them to start fighting by a water fountain which Ponyboy and Johnny drowned Bob in
until he had blacked out underwater (Hinton 51). When the two boys Johnny and Ponyboy comes
back to their senses they realize that they have killed Bob when Johnny's hands are covered in blood
with a big switch knife in his hands by the water fountain. The two boys Johnny and Ponyboy are
shocked because they have never killed anybody before. They start thinking of ways to get out of it;
everybody came asking questions about what happened that night (Hinton 51). The two boys
realized that they had to skip town and change their appearance so they ran into Dallas and told him
what they have done, they came up with an idea to go to the country where there is an abandoned
church that nobody goes to until they can get everything back to normal before they stay in town
(Hinton 51). When they made it to the country they change their appearance by cutting their hair
short and Ponyboy decides to dye his hair blonde so that nobody would recognize him if they came

Analysis Of Scne Aux Champs
The third movement is entitled Scène aux champs, or "scene in the fields." This pastoral setting
alludes to Beethoven's Am Bach from his sixth symphony, although with less serenity as Berlioz
creates a "mood of sorrowful loneliness." The piece is, like the second movement, in ABA form,
with the idée fix attached at the end as a coda. The movement begins "with an echo from Berlioz's
childhood: the sound of a cowherd's melody. Berlioz uses the huge orchestra to create the sense of
suspension of time that intimacy can bring." This cowherd's melody is a shepherd call, in which the
English horn and oboe call out to one another. The oboe responds from offstage, a device borrowed
from theatre. Then, the idée fixe comes in on flutes and oboes, set against the 6/8 meter of the
movement, and more instruments join in, painting the anguish of the young artist. After an
"orchestral outburst, the idée fixe returns with the English horn again calling out, but there is no
response from the oboe, instead, the "shepherd" is answered by the rumbling of thunder, musically
illustrated by the timpani, which plays unusual minor chords.
The first theme of the fourth movement is entitled March un supplice or "March to the Scaffold,"
which Macdonald describes as "alternatively sinister and brazen." This movement appears in rondo
form. The first theme shows the hero's "hollow footsteps" to the guillotine by a two–octave
descending scale in the cellos and basses, which then is repeated in different

Critical Analysis OfSalvation, By Langston Hughes
Have you ever been pressured into doing something? Not because you didn't want to do it, but
because the timing is just not right. Sometimes when people are forced to do something on someone
else's time, they're unable to do so. In "Salvation," Langston Hughes tells about being "saved from
sin" (547) at a young age at his aunt's church revival. Revivals are spiritual services that happen
throughout the week or longer. He's put under a lot of stress about the revival and shows many
feelings throughout the essay. Hughes describes the experience he had while trying to be saved and
his feelings of disappointment, peer pressure, and anger. Hughes' thoughts and feelings play a big
part in this essay. While this might not be the main reason as to why he wrote this essay, he
definitely wanted his readers to relate with him if they're going through something similar. Hughes
felt a great deal of disappointment in the process of being saved and trying to see Jesus. His
disappointment was towards his aunt because she had told him how he would feel while getting
saved but he didn't experience the same thing, "My aunt told me that when you were saved you saw
a light, and something happened to you inside!" (547). After his aunt, and other members of the
church, had told him this, Hughes expected to be able to physically see Jesus standing before him.
At first, Hughes felt as if his time hadn't come yet, so he tried to wait and keep his faith in Jesus.
Hughes was disappointed in all the other children for being able to see Jesus, he was wondering
what could he have done wrong? Correlations that are drawn to the essay and audience would be
that sometimes you might think something will go one way because you've been told so. When in
reality, it might work out a different way for you. In religion, you can possibly have a different
relationship with the higher power that you serve than what another person might have. This doesn't
make one person any better than the other, there is just a different connection with you and Jesus.
Another emotion Hughes felt was peer pressure. He felt this from the congregation in the church
that night. As he was sitting there on the pew where they placed the children being saved, he started

Comparing Jesus Christ and Harry Potter as Heroes Essay
If there are two names that can be recognized anywhere in the world, one would definitely be Harry
Potter, and the other would surely be Jesus Christ. On one hand, Harry Potter is known as the
protagonist of the best–selling Harry Potter book series, which was written by JK Rowling. He is a
boy wizard who encountered many different trials and tribulations during his stay in the Hogwarts
School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The seven books have been read by millions of children and
adults all over the world, and its popularity was evident when four books in the series were on the
New York Times bestseller list all at the same time (Brown 32). On the other hand, Jesus Christ is
one of the main religious figures of Christianity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Herod ordered the deaths of all baby boys in Bethlehem because of the prophecy that someone
would overthrow his oppressive rule. In order to save Jesus' life, his parents fled and brought him to
Egypt. (Murphy 28). In the story of Harry Potter, the dark wizard Voldemort attempted to kill the
one–year old Harry Potter because "a boy of Harry's description was prophesied before his birth to
be the coming vanquisher of the dark lord." (Granger 72) However, his mother saved his life and a
magical protection was put upon him, which came from the so–called power of love (Brown 58).
The second conflict that both Jesus Christ and Harry Potter faced was that they were the savior–
figures in their stories. Malone (57) defined a savior–figure as someone who "can and does suffer,
but the meaning of the figure is more in leadership, in rescuing and saving, in helping fellow human
beings to a destiny that images paradise." This was precisely the duty of both Harry Potter and Jesus
Christ. They had to better the worlds that they lived in, and to do that, they had to suffer. In their
case, they had to sacrifice their lives. The Romans thought that Jesus was a blasphemer who was
using God's name to spread his own false messages (Bredin 190) and ended up having to crucify
him. This crucifixion was all part of God's plan, and through this action, Jesus ended up

During George Wallace's "Stand in the Schoolhouse Door" protest, Forrest stands curiously in the
background, more interested in his surroundings rather than the actual protest. During the Vietnam
War, Forrest never questions the morality or the agenda of the U.S. government, and receives the
Congressional Medal of Honor for his efforts. His entire experience during the Vietnam War can be
summed up into one conversation between him and the Drill Sergeant: "Gump! What's your sole
purpose in this Army?" "To do whatever you tell me, Drill Sergeant!" (Gump 1995) Still, the most
dismaying portion of impassive responses glorified in this film can be contributed to Forrest's
careless involvement in the anti–Vietnam War rally lead by Abbie Hoffman. He was entirely
clueless as to the purpose of the anti–war movements. His view of Abbie Hoffman's role? "There

social forces are most often expressed and implied through Jenny Curran. Forrest's generally
unobservant nature contrasts harshly with Jenny's forthright and independent character. Without

Using Simulators For Advance Clinical Research
Using Simulators to Advance Clinical Research
Sheila E. Brooks
Stanbridge College
ABSTRACT Throughout history numerous reports of abuse in clinical trials have surfaced. These
reports shed light not only of emotional abuse but the physical abuse as well. As we will see, some
of the abuse continues today. This abuse has led to public mistrust and scrutiny even to this day.
Clinical research participants are hesitant to enroll in clinical research trails for fear of being misled
or mistreated. Clinical researcher nurses are in the unique position to ensure not only patient safety
but to elicit public trust. However, clinical research nurses do not have formal educational tools to
develop important skills such as critical thinking, communication, or clinical skills which are
necessary to ensure patient safety, to reduce clinical mistakes, and to increase patient trust. One way
to develop such skills is through the use of simulation. Throughout history simulators have been
used in a variety of fields such as the military and aviation. Medical schools have used simulation to
practice skills as well. To date, little research has been done in the use of simulators in clinical
research programs for nurses. The purpose of this paper is address how simulators can improve
critical thinking in research nurses through the use of nursing theory, health promotion, and
community resources. We will

Police Corruption In Don Winslow's 'The Force'
Police must obey the law when enforcing the law. This is the common belief in the world of what a
cop should do but reality begs to differ as police corruption is a familiar term to our society. Denny
Malone is a significant tragic hero in Don Winslow's "The Force" that shows the different
perspectives of police corruption in society today through the weaknesses in human nature. As
readers go on a whirlwind of journeys with Malone to an ultimate tragic ending, it is revealed that
there is much more than what meets the eye with police corruption. Malone is a hero cop in the eyes
of the public and possibly the dirtiest in the eyes of criminals and other dirty cops. However, his
path to redemption shows the many flaws of the justice system such as the financial temptations
cops encounter, exposure to violence causing mental health issues and the overwhelming external
and internal pressures they face.
The average hourly rate for police officers in Canada is approximately $29. That's not a lot
considering this rate applies to all ranks of police officers, the lowest starting from $14. This raises
the question of whether police officers are being paid enough. As those who are the first line of
defense with any crime, from small to big, many argue their jobs are one of the most physically and
mentally exhausting jobs there are. At the end of the day, police officers are people who still have to
return home and feed their families just like anybody else. This leads to a weakness in

4. The Renaissance and Reformism
The reformation, owing both to the wishes of its academic founders and to the popular tendencies
underlying it, concerned itself largely with popular preaching. It is a widespread error to assume that
there was little popular preaching in the Middle Ages. It is true that there were many bishops and
parish priests who shirked their canonical duties in this respect, but there was much popular
instruction; there was, especially among the friars, much simple, at times even sensational, mission
preaching. But the deepening of religious life that preceded the reformation led men to employ with
greater diligence all means of helping others, and popular preaching was thus more widely used.
Here again, both a conservative and a revolutionary tendency are observable. On the one hand, we
can trace the fuller but continuous history of the older use of sermons. On the other hand, we find
the tendency, seen at its strongest in Zwinglianism, to exalt the sermon above the sacraments, to put
the pulpit in place of the altar. Both tendencies made the literature of sermons more popular, and
more significant. But, in the literature thus revived, the

Essay on James Bond Movies
James Bond Movies
I think that the writers intensions when he created James Bond was that he wanted him to be a man
who could get out of any situation and is irresistible to women, he also wanted him to be a secret
agent who has all these interesting gadgets.
The first film that I will be reviewing is Goldeneye. Goldeneye was released in 1995. The storyline
for Goldeneye is that the Russian mafia has a space based weapons system called goldeneye. Its up
to James Bond to save London from this, on his way he runs into characters such as a beautiful

James bond hits women in Goldeneye which a lot of women would find offending. An example of
when he hits a woman is when he is talking to Xenia and knocks her out by a chop to her neck and
puts humor into it by saying "good night".
The song Goldeneye by Tina Turner is very effective in the film because it blends in with everything
that is happening in that section of the film. The original James Bond theme is mostly played in the
action parts of the movie and at the start of the movie. The James Bond soundtrack theme is played
in all of his movies, and when you hear that soundtrack you would associate it with James Bond.
When many people that hear that soundtrack being played somewhere they would immediately link
it with James Bond because it is something that resembles him. When there is a romantic scene in
Goldeneye they would play calm and soothing music, and when there is a fight they would play
music that is loud and fast and will get you hyped up.
The second James Bond film that I will be reviewing is Goldfinger. Goldfinger was the third James
Bond film and was created in 1964. In Goldfinger the main character played by Gert Frobe, isn't the
most vicious villain to stand against 007 but he is intelligent and is obsessed with gold. Frobe is
good for the role of Goldfinger because he shows the different personalities that he has– cruelty,

Codependency in Samuel Beckett's Endgame
"Clov asks, "What is there to keep us here?" Hamm answers, "The dialogue."" In the play Endgame,
Samuel Beckett demonstrates dramatically the idea of codependency between the two focal
characters who rely on each other to fulfill their own physical and psychological needs. Beckett
accomplishes this through Hamm, who assumes the identity of a kingly figure, and his relationship
with Clov, who acts as his subject. In Endgame, this idea is established by tone and humor in the
dialogue amid Hamm and Clov.

and later an M.A. in Romance languages. Beckett moved to Paris, France, where began his writing
career. It was here that he developed and perfected his absurdist style, and began to write novels and
plays alike with his bleak outlook on the core of human existence. His literature ultimately sought to
expose this concept of a wretched solitary self which was representative of quite literally
nothingness. (Encarta) Beckett created four major works including; his trilogy Molloy (1951),
Malone Dies (1951), and The Unnamable (1953), novels that he considered his greatest
achievements; and the play, Waiting for Godot (1952) which critics acclaim as his masterpiece. He
also won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969. Samuel Beckett's writings were a reflection of his
mastery of the written word, and laid the foundations of a long continuance of the absurdist
tradition.
In Antony Easthope's article he remarks on Hamm and Clov's relationship in the play and analyzes
Beckett's dramatic method. Easthope's explanation of Endgame's plot is focused around one pivotal
question: Will Clov leave Hamm? Thus, he asserts that there is no resolution, as the play ends with
Clov standing in front of the door, all packed to go, but unable to leave. Therefore, to be able to
recognize Beckett's dramatic method he states that it becomes necessary to look at Hamm and Clovs
relationship, from which it arises. Easthope believes that Clov is only a pawn dominated by Hamm's

Samuel Beckett was a world renown author of poetry, novels, and theatrical plays. He was born in
Ireland and spent much of his adult life in Paris. His works were primarily written in French, and
then translated, many times by the author himself, into English. He is known for creating works of
dark comedy, and absurdism, and later in his career a minimalist.
Due to his late start as an author, he is considered one of the last modernists, along with his good

James Joyce came to his friend's side, assigning his personal doctor to care for Beckett. He met his
assailant later, who claimed that he did not know why he stabbed Beckett, and said that he was
sorry. It was an absurd exchange, to be sure, and many often wonder how much it inspired the
young author. During his convalescence, Beckett was cared for by Suzanne Descheveaux–
Dumesnil, and she became his lifelong companion, helping him Beckett publish his works, and also
shielding him from the prying public. It was not until 1961 that the two married.
During the years of WW II, Beckett joined the resistance in France, and although he was dismissive
of his involvement, the group he was involved with was awarded the Croix de Guerre in 1945.
His period from the end of WWII through the 1950's is his most prolific, and successful period,
where he perfected his style, and wrote his famous books, (although he argued were not a trilogy)

favorite out of all three pieces (1873 to 1943), and Symphony No. 5, Op. 107 by Felix Mendelssohn

younger people in the concert hall were still nicely dressed but were a little more casual. After what

'Dr No' in 1962 was the first James Bond film released and 'The World Is Not Enough' is one of the
most recent Bond films to have been released in 1999. The two film posters are distinctively
different, which would be expected as the films were released decades apart from eachother.
The first poster for 'Dr No' shows that James Bond is a new, never seen before film as the logo '007'
is printed on the poster more than once in bold lettering, and the name 'James Bond' is also printed,

This also may have something to do with the fact that in the 90's, the first female head of MI5 was
introduced into the films.
The genre of the film is far more evident in the poster for 'The World Is Not Enough'. The images
used connote an action film that has many different narratives. The poster is lively and eye–catching
and is full of bright, vivid images. The poster fits in very well with the title of the film, as it looks
like James Bond is going to embark on some international mission, the image of some of the
continents in flames shows this. There are also several images circling around the main characters in
the film, which look futuristic and scientific and feature explosions and car chases. Comparing the
two posters also shows how technology and science has progressed through the decades and this is
very apparent in the 1999 film poster, which looks far more advanced, as far as gadgets and
weapons go.
The 'Dr No' poster does not specify the genre so well. It could be for several different genres. It
indicates that it could possibly be a spy or mystery film, which is partly true of the James Bond
movies.

Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Essay
Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare
Bacillus anthracis is a rod–shaped, nonmotile, aerobic, gram–positive bacterium that can be
transmitted from herbivoric animals to humans (Figure 1). Before an animal's death, its orifices
exude blood containing huge quantities of the bacterium. Anthrax forms extremely resilient spores
upon exposure to atmospheric conditions. Because of this spore–producing ability, even after the
animal host dies the germs can sporulate again, persisting in the soil for up to several decades (1).
No cases of human–to–human transmission have been reported for this zoonosis. Historically,
human cases have been either industrial, as with woolsorter's, or agricultural (2).
Anthrax can be transmitted via 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, most recent outbreaks have occurred in southeastern Asia and Africa where anthrax is
endemic, often in isolated villages, and therefore have been difficult to investigate.
Pulmonary anthrax (woolsorter's disease) results from spore inhalation and like gastric anthrax, is
very rare, but inhalation remains the primary infection route for weaponized anthrax, due to its
nearly uniform fatality (Table 1). Pulmonary anthrax is approximately 90% fatal, and the US
Department of Defense estimates that the human LD50 is between 8,000 and 10,000 spores (5).
Some estimates, however, project that the minimum infectious dose could be as high as 80,000
spores (2). As shown in Table 2, early symptoms include malaise, myalgias, fatigue, occasional
retronasal pressure, nonproductive cough, and a low–grade fever, and are followed by an acute

symptoms so closely resemble viral infections or the common cold, anthrax diagnosis proves
difficult. While acute phase symptoms are more readily diagnosable, the disease's advanced
progression often makes treatments ineffective at this point (5). Moreover, in the US, there were
only 11 reported cases of inhalational anthrax between 1945 and 1994, and so few health physicians
have clinical experience with the disease (6). In

Compare And Contrast Mother To Son By Langston Hughes
Reporter: Hi Mr Hughes, so I've learnt that recently one of your poems , "Mother To Son is
published". Congratulations, but besides from the blissful joy of happiness, can you share with us
your feelings right now? Are we happy? Proud?
Langston Hughes: Thank you , Well for me personally I am honoured in many ways and happy as
well, but not for gaining popularity or the recognition I received , but the joy of finally being able to
share my Point of Views or our (Black People) Point Of Views to the world. My poems are a part of
me and my beliefs and I am very ecstatic that I am finally able to share it with the audiences.

But I kept on climbing , and never doubted myself. That was the best piece of advice my mother
gave me. It was also one of the key inspiration to my poem "Mother To Son".
Reporter: And would you say that there was a correlation between your experiences and choice of
Language in your works?
Hughes: Yes , absolutely. Or at least I feel that there was a huge impact on my writing style and tone
used in my poems. The world's most brilliant and brightest Poet of all times are those with stories.
Without life experiences , and twist and turns , Traumatic Experiences, It is difficult for me to
imagine how someone could write a literary piece of written work without any significant life
experiences.
A poem is like a dish , you need to have a bit of everything to make it complete. For me , of course.
I had a rough childhood , and till today. You can get a sense of that from my poems.
Let me provide you with some examples: In Mother To Son , you can see the hardships that the
mother explains to her son , which symbolises the struggle african–american people face in their

Proust Beckett: The Aesthetic And Epistemological...
Throughout his writing career of forty–five years Beckett has been concerned with the aesthetic and
epistemological implications of time consciousness. In his essay on Proust Beckett argues that
Proustian demonstration presents to us a double–headed monster of damnation and salvation –
Time. Beckett goes on to say, "the Proustian solution consists, in so far it has been examined, in the
negation of Time and Death, the negation of Death because the negation of Time. Death is dead
because Time is dead."
We see the narrative features of Beckett where his form of narration goes into extended story in time
and space, voice or persona, shifting tenses – in order to exhibit mind's struggle to determine the
location of the matter, manner, means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using paradoxes and indeterminacies, the narrative structure of Beckett denies closure in the
sense that is structurally vacates the centre of the text. Now, one important question comes forth that
how the closure is denied. This question entails another question that makes me wonder how time
accelerates the process of denial of the closure and simultaneously vacate the centre of the

Samuel Beckett¨s Novel Molloy and Its Particular Style,...
There's no question Samuel Beckett was deeply influenced by the avant–garde style of fellow Irish
novelist James Joyce when writing Molloy. Both Beckett and Joyce allude to the classics (Dante's
Purgatorio and Homer's Odyssey, respectively) and both extensively employ interior monologue to
often similar effect. Even so, Beckett, ever aware of the shadow cast by his former mentor, also
attempted to eschew Joycean tendencies in his works, as demonstrated in Molloy. Here, not only
does Beckett entirely deny readers the luxury of context, he deconstructs the very fundamentals of
novel and narrative. Distinctly metafictional in form, Molloy self–consciously underlines its own
artificiality and, on a universal level, that intrinsic to fiction itself. Like the titular allusion of Joyce's
Ulysses, the two protagonists in Molloy also embark on a voyage of sorts, albeit the nature of which
is even more so internalized. As a result, there's not much by way of plot or setting, which remain
intentionally hazy. Still, the novel moves, sometimes at a dizzying pace, in part to its frequent
digressions and elision of so many vital answers: Are Molloy and Moran the same character? Is it
possible Molloy may not even be a person altogether but rather an alter ego of Moran? Is Molloy a
state of mind? What exactly does it mean to be "searching for Molloy"? These questions stem from
the novel's vague definition of physical space and time, leading some readers to interpret the novel's

Casino Royale
The James bond film series has captivated its audience for decades with eye–catching gadgets,
explosions, and heroism of Agent 007. Over the years that these films have been produced, a variety
of actors have played James bond and many actresses have played his love interests. The male roles
are portrayed as overly masculine and all of the women are overly sexualized. It seems that in every
James bond movie the special agent is beating up twenty guys and saving the lives of various
gorgeous women who immediately go to bed with him. The portrayal of men and women in this sort
of way set expectations and standards that are far too high for both genders. The characters in the
James Bond film series are portrayed in ways that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those women have little to do with the plot of the movie and have more so to do with proving
Bond's masculinity. This not only gives girls a negative image of themselves but at the same time
gives boys a negative view on women. Even the names of the women in the James Bond films are
highly sexualized. The authors of the article Shaken and Stirred say "strong potential for romantic
entanglement with Bond, and a sense of self–assurance whose name (Pussy Galore, Honey Ryder, or
Holly Goodhead, for example) is as provocative as the character she portrays" (Snyder–Suhy et al.
747) In the movie Casino Royal, Bond meets a girl who is married, yet is taken by Bond. In a recent
study "91% of major female characters engaged in some type of sexual activity" ( Snyder–Suhy et
al. 753). What kind of message does this present to young girls? Almost all women in the Bond film
series engage in some sort of sexual act. In order to be of any importance in one of these films, as a
woman, one has to use their sexuality. Even the most important female character throughout the
series is reduced to nothing more than a stereo typical woman, Meaning that she is only there to be
domestic and sexual. In a scene from the movie Gold Finger, Miss Money penny wants nothing
more than to be domesticated.
Bond: And what do you know about gold, Moneypenny? Moneypenny: The only gold I know about
is the kind you wear on the third finger of your left hand. Bond: One

Generally intellectual capital is considered to be the stored knowledge possessed by an organization,
which may be tacit knowledge, personal knowledge possessed by an employee and may be explicit

  • 1. The Absurd Geniuses Of All Time Samuel Beckett, regarded as one of the best Theater of the Absurd geniuses of all time, is an Irish playwright and director of the avant–garde. Living in Paris France for the majority of his life, he wrote in both English and French. Using bleak and hopeless themes, his works depict a harsh attack on realism and challenge the very meaning of life. Beckett's works opened the world of theater to many interesting possibilities in drama and fiction. He introduced to theater and novel the idea that the existence of human life is absurd, an idea that is prominent in his writings. Born and raised in Ireland, he excelled in his education at Dublin University and Campbell College before moving to Paris in 1928. Here he was introduced to the profound Irish author, James Joyce, who is regarded as one of the most influential and important authors of the 20th century. Beckett and Joyce assisted in each other's writings, including the book, Finnegans Wake (1939). Finnegans Wake shows some of Beckett's darkness with its themes of sin interpreted in a dreamlike state. This book also inspired Beckett's more comedic approach to the dark and depressing themes in most of his works. Assumption (1929), written by Beckett, was his first of many stories. Consisting of various themes of human nature and Irish folklore, this story was the first of many that could be considered as difficult to understand or just gibberish, due to its syntax being strained to incomprehensibility. Meaning-Reconstruction Model Essay This paper will examine how traumatic grief, caused by loss of a parent, presents itself as a condition in children, and is experienced as a clinical syndrome of separation distress and yearning, and is the central feature of the DSM V– Code of Bereavement (Edgar–Bailey and Kress, 2010). The research examined will further explain how this kind of traumatic grief is experienced by children between the ages of seven and 12 (i.e. a significant condition of traumatic grief, excluding cases of suicide and homicide) and within their specific Western culture and community. The Meaning–Reconstruction Model (MRM) provides clarification, according to Lister, S. et al. (2008) and best supports how complex grief and loss can be released and processed. In this way, children can separate themselves from the object to rediscover new meaning of this tacit dimension. Farrelly–Hansen (2001) suggest that art–making is inherently spiritual, and "spirituality is an important ingredient in therapy or in becoming more whole. It is essentially a search for meaning, new answers and fresh perspectives" (Renzenbrink, 2012, p. 205). • 5. An Analysis of the Arguably Unified Poem, Beowulf Essay... An Analysis of the Arguably Unified Poem, Beowulf Beowulf as a less than unified work, more important for its historical and philological content than its literary merit, and critics after him regard Beowulf as a unified work of art. For example, of the critics who discuss the poem as a whole in An Anthology of Beowulf Criticism, most agree pace Tolkien that Beowulf is a unified poem, even if they argue so on different grounds. Burton Raffel's introduction to his own translation offers a particularly exuberant example of post–Tolkien Beowulf criticism: [W]e are remarkably lucky to have [Beowulf]: not only is it unique, the sole survivor of what might have been a thriving epic tradition, but it is great poetry. Approached as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is primarily for these reasons that critics prior to Tolkien argue against the unity of Beowulf. Though this paper agrees more with Tolkien and Raffel, it does not assume the self–evident unity of Beowulf; rather it will briefly review and assess the main issues relevant to the question of the poem's unity, of which there are three: (1) Beowulf's structure, (2) the significance of its subject matter, and (3) its thematic unity. One possible caveat here is that modern ideas about artistic unity do not apply to Beowulf. H. L. Rogers makes this claim, for example. However, Aristotle presented sophisticated ideas about poetic unity long before Beowulf, and hence there is no reason to believe that Old English authors had "primitive" notions of artistic unity. Moreover, those who argue against the single authorship of Beowulf already apply "modern" standards of unity to support their case, as Rogers indeed does. Thus there should be no great objection to applying these standards in support of the opposing view. The prima facie evidence for the structural unity of the poem is strong. The narrative centers around three fight scenes that parallel one another and link together part one and part two. In each part, a monster plagues a helpless people, and Beowulf comes to the rescue. Throughout this basic narrative, there are themes of kingly wisdom and tribal loyalty, descriptions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Different Perspectives Of Police Corruption In Don... The tacit and fundamental understanding of a policeman's duty is to obey the law when implementing the law but reality begs to differ as police corruption is a familiar issue in our society. Denny Malone is a significant tragic hero in Don Winslow's "The Force" that demonstrates the different perspectives of police corruption through the weaknesses of human nature. As readers go on a whirlwind journey with Malone to an ultimately tragic ending, he reveals a lot more than what meets the eye about police corruption. Although Malone is seen as a heroic cop in the eyes of the public, he is seen as the most despicable cop in the eyes of criminals and other dishonorable cops. Nevertheless, his path to redemption shows the many flaws of the justice system such as the financial temptations policemen encounter, exposure to violence that causes mental health problems, and the overwhelming external and internal pressures they face. First and foremost, the median hourly rate for police officers in Canada is about $29. That is not a great deal considering this rate applies to all ranks of police officers, the lowest starting from $14 (Payscale). This brings up the query of whether police officers are being paid enough. As those who are the first line of defense with any crime, from small to big, many argue their jobs are one of the most physically and mentally draining. At the end of the day, police officers are people who still need to return home and feed their families just like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is almost strange when one thinks of a monster asking for forgiveness. Revisiting the story I start to notice that Humbaba is not necessarily and evil person. Humbaba does not stay in the forest and protects it like an ogre protects his swamp, he was placed there. Humbaba was placed at the Cedar Forest by Enlil, the king of the gods, to protect the forest (Gilgamesh, 133). Humbaba was just doing his job, guarding the trees so that humans would not cut them down and destroy them. Another villain that we read in Core 3 comes from the story of The Odyssey. Polyphemus is the gigantic one eye monster that Odysseus meets on his way back home. Odysseus stops at his island and Polyphemus then catches them and takes Odysseus and his crew as prisoners and for food. Although Polyphemus is a powerful being, son of Poseidon, he is not the brightest. Polyphemus is freely convinced that Odysseus's name is "Nobody". "There are too many examples of contradictions for us to simply dismiss them as intentional."(Berry 325–6). John, one of the gospel authors, wanted to identify Jesus with passover lambs. So his Gospel identified that Jesus was crucified at the same time the Passover lambs were slaughtered. The Gospels are openly written to convince people and encourage people of a particular message regarding Jesus. Was it really important which day of the week Jesus was crucified? Lack of agreement with other Gospel writers regarding Jesus' death did not mean his writings were incorrect. The crucifixion has been used as a tool to tell the story and communicate the religious message. "And the Gospel of Thomas, which is to them perhaps the closest we have to what Jesus may actually have said, since it has not been subjected to countless translations." (Berry 340). The above quote suggests that the New Testament has been radically changed many times from its original content deliberately. Steve Berry mentions that the NT (New Testament) was originally written in Greek. The many translations span from Greek to languages all over the world. So how much did the powerful Catholic Churches change the original to benefit their power position in the different languages? The best NT manuscripts dates back to first and second centuries before the appearance of the powerful body, "Church". • 22. Analysis Of Scne Aux Champs The third movement is entitled Scène aux champs, or "scene in the fields." This pastoral setting alludes to Beethoven's Am Bach from his sixth symphony, although with less serenity as Berlioz creates a "mood of sorrowful loneliness." The piece is, like the second movement, in ABA form, with the idée fix attached at the end as a coda. The movement begins "with an echo from Berlioz's childhood: the sound of a cowherd's melody. Berlioz uses the huge orchestra to create the sense of suspension of time that intimacy can bring." This cowherd's melody is a shepherd call, in which the English horn and oboe call out to one another. The oboe responds from offstage, a device borrowed from theatre. Then, the idée fixe comes in on flutes and oboes, set against the 6/8 meter of the movement, and more instruments join in, painting the anguish of the young artist. After an "orchestral outburst, the idée fixe returns with the English horn again calling out, but there is no response from the oboe, instead, the "shepherd" is answered by the rumbling of thunder, musically illustrated by the timpani, which plays unusual minor chords. The first theme of the fourth movement is entitled March un supplice or "March to the Scaffold," which Macdonald describes as "alternatively sinister and brazen." This movement appears in rondo form. • 23. Critical Analysis OfSalvation, By Langston Hughes Have you ever been pressured into doing something? Not because you didn't want to do it, but because the timing is just not right. Sometimes when people are forced to do something on someone else's time, they're unable to do so. In "Salvation," Langston Hughes tells about being "saved from sin" (547) at a young age at his aunt's church revival. Revivals are spiritual services that happen throughout the week or longer. He's put under a lot of stress about the revival and shows many feelings throughout the essay. Hughes describes the experience he had while trying to be saved and his feelings of disappointment, peer pressure, and anger. Hughes' thoughts and feelings play a big part in this essay. While this might not be the main reason as to why he wrote this essay, he definitely wanted his readers to relate with him if they're going through something similar. Hughes felt a great deal of disappointment in the process of being saved and trying to see Jesus. His disappointment was towards his aunt because she had told him how he would feel while getting saved but he didn't experience the same thing, "My aunt told me that when you were saved you saw a light, and something happened to you inside!" (547). After his aunt, and other members of the church, had told him this, Hughes expected to be able to physically see Jesus standing before him. At first, Hughes felt as if his time hadn't come yet, so he tried to wait and keep his faith in Jesus. Hughes was disappointed in all the other children for being able to see Jesus, he was wondering what could he have done wrong? Correlations that are drawn to the essay and audience would be that sometimes you might think something will go one way because you've been told so. When in reality, it might work out a different way for you. In religion, you can possibly have a different relationship with the higher power that you serve than what another person might have. This doesn't make one person any better than the other, there is just a different connection with you and Jesus. Another emotion Hughes felt was peer pressure. He is a boy wizard who encountered many different trials and tribulations during his stay in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The seven books have been read by millions of children and adults all over the world, and its popularity was evident when four books in the series were on the New York Times bestseller list all at the same time (Brown 32). King Herod ordered the deaths of all baby boys in Bethlehem because of the prophecy that someone would overthrow his oppressive rule. In order to save Jesus' life, his parents fled and brought him to Egypt. (Murphy 28). In the story of Harry Potter, the dark wizard Voldemort attempted to kill the one–year old Harry Potter because "a boy of Harry's description was prophesied before his birth to be the coming vanquisher of the dark lord." (Granger 72) However, his mother saved his life and a magical protection was put upon him, which came from the so–called power of love (Brown 58). The second conflict that both Jesus Christ and Harry Potter faced was that they were the savior– figures in their stories. Malone (57) defined a savior–figure as someone who "can and does suffer, but the meaning of the figure is more in leadership, in rescuing and saving, in helping fellow human beings to a destiny that images paradise." This was precisely the duty of both Harry Potter and Jesus Christ. They had to better the worlds that they lived in, and to do that, they had to suffer. In their case, they had to sacrifice their lives. The Romans thought that Jesus was a blasphemer who was using God's name to spread his own false messages (Bredin 190) and ended up having to crucify him. During the Vietnam War, Forrest never questions the morality or the agenda of the U.S. government, and receives the Congressional Medal of Honor for his efforts. His entire experience during the Vietnam War can be summed up into one conversation between him and the Drill Sergeant: "Gump! What's your sole purpose in this Army?" "To do whatever you tell me, Drill Sergeant!" (Gump 1995) Still, the most dismaying portion of impassive responses glorified in this film can be contributed to Forrest's careless involvement in the anti–Vietnam War rally lead by Abbie Hoffman. • 26. Using Simulators For Advance Clinical Research Using Simulators to Advance Clinical Research Sheila E. Brooks Stanbridge College ABSTRACT Throughout history numerous reports of abuse in clinical trials have surfaced. These reports shed light not only of emotional abuse but the physical abuse as well. As we will see, some of the abuse continues today. This abuse has led to public mistrust and scrutiny even to this day. Clinical research participants are hesitant to enroll in clinical research trails for fear of being misled or mistreated. Clinical researcher nurses are in the unique position to ensure not only patient safety but to elicit public trust. However, clinical research nurses do not have formal educational tools to develop important skills such as critical thinking, communication, or clinical skills which are necessary to ensure patient safety, to reduce clinical mistakes, and to increase patient trust. One way to develop such skills is through the use of simulation. Throughout history simulators have been used in a variety of fields such as the military and aviation. Medical schools have used simulation to practice skills as well. To date, little research has been done in the use of simulators in clinical research programs for nurses. The purpose of this paper is address how simulators can improve critical thinking in research nurses through the use of nursing theory, health promotion, and community resources. We will ... • 27. Police Corruption In Don Winslow's 'The Force' Police must obey the law when enforcing the law. This is the common belief in the world of what a cop should do but reality begs to differ as police corruption is a familiar term to our society. Denny Malone is a significant tragic hero in Don Winslow's "The Force" that shows the different perspectives of police corruption in society today through the weaknesses in human nature. As readers go on a whirlwind of journeys with Malone to an ultimate tragic ending, it is revealed that there is much more than what meets the eye with police corruption. Malone is a hero cop in the eyes of the public and possibly the dirtiest in the eyes of criminals and other dirty cops. However, his path to redemption shows the many flaws of the justice system such as the financial temptations cops encounter, exposure to violence causing mental health issues and the overwhelming external and internal pressures they face. The average hourly rate for police officers in Canada is approximately $29. That's not a lot considering this rate applies to all ranks of police officers, the lowest starting from $14. This raises the question of whether police officers are being paid enough. As those who are the first line of defense with any crime, from small to big, many argue their jobs are one of the most physically and mentally exhausting jobs there are. At the end of the day, police officers are people who still have to return home and feed their families just like anybody else. This leads to a weakness in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Renaissance and Reformism The reformation, owing both to the wishes of its academic founders and to the popular tendencies underlying it, concerned itself largely with popular preaching. It is a widespread error to assume that there was little popular preaching in the Middle Ages. It is true that there were many bishops and parish priests who shirked their canonical duties in this respect, but there was much popular instruction; there was, especially among the friars, much simple, at times even sensational, mission preaching. But the deepening of religious life that preceded the reformation led men to employ with greater diligence all means of helping others, and popular preaching was thus more widely used. Here again, both a conservative and a revolutionary tendency are observable. On the one hand, we can trace the fuller but continuous history of the older use of sermons. On the other hand, we find the tendency, seen at its strongest in Zwinglianism, to exalt the sermon above the sacraments, to put the pulpit in place of the altar. Both tendencies made the literature of sermons more popular, and more significant. But, in the literature thus revived, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The song Goldeneye by Tina Turner is very effective in the film because it blends in with everything that is happening in that section of the film. The original James Bond theme is mostly played in the action parts of the movie and at the start of the movie. The James Bond soundtrack theme is played in all of his movies, and when you hear that soundtrack you would associate it with James Bond. When many people that hear that soundtrack being played somewhere they would immediately link it with James Bond because it is something that resembles him. When there is a romantic scene in Goldeneye they would play calm and soothing music, and when there is a fight they would play music that is loud and fast and will get you hyped up. • 31. Codependency in Samuel Beckett's Endgame Essay Codependency in Samuel Beckett's Endgame "Clov asks, "What is there to keep us here?" Hamm answers, "The dialogue."" In the play Endgame, Samuel Beckett demonstrates dramatically the idea of codependency between the two focal characters who rely on each other to fulfill their own physical and psychological needs. Beckett accomplishes this through Hamm, who assumes the identity of a kingly figure, and his relationship with Clov, who acts as his subject. In Endgame, this idea is established by tone and humor in the dialogue amid Hamm and Clov. Samuel Beckett was an Irish–born poet, novelist, and foremost dramatist of the theater of the absurd. Beckett moved to Paris, France, where began his writing career. It was here that he developed and perfected his absurdist style, and began to write novels and plays alike with his bleak outlook on the core of human existence. His literature ultimately sought to expose this concept of a wretched solitary self which was representative of quite literally nothingness. (Encarta) Beckett created four major works including; his trilogy Molloy (1951), Malone Dies (1951), and The Unnamable (1953), novels that he considered his greatest achievements; and the play, Waiting for Godot (1952) which critics acclaim as his masterpiece. He also won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969. Samuel Beckett's writings were a reflection of his mastery of the written word, and laid the foundations of a long continuance of the absurdist tradition. In Antony Easthope's article he remarks on Hamm and Clov's relationship in the play and analyzes Beckett's dramatic method. Easthope's explanation of Endgame's plot is focused around one pivotal question: Will Clov leave Hamm? Thus, he asserts that there is no resolution, as the play ends with Clov standing in front of the door, all packed to go, but unable to leave. Therefore, to be able to recognize Beckett's dramatic method he states that it becomes necessary to look at Hamm and Clovs relationship, from which it arises. During his convalescence, Beckett was cared for by Suzanne Descheveaux– Dumesnil, and she became his lifelong companion, helping him Beckett publish his works, and also shielding him from the prying public. It was not until 1961 that the two married. Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Essay Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Bacillus anthracis is a rod–shaped, nonmotile, aerobic, gram–positive bacterium that can be transmitted from herbivoric animals to humans (Figure 1). Before an animal's death, its orifices exude blood containing huge quantities of the bacterium. Anthrax forms extremely resilient spores upon exposure to atmospheric conditions. Because of this spore–producing ability, even after the animal host dies the germs can sporulate again, persisting in the soil for up to several decades (1). Pulmonary anthrax (woolsorter's disease) results from spore inhalation and like gastric anthrax, is very rare, but inhalation remains the primary infection route for weaponized anthrax, due to its nearly uniform fatality (Table 1). Pulmonary anthrax is approximately 90% fatal, and the US Department of Defense estimates that the human LD50 is between 8,000 and 10,000 spores (5). Some estimates, however, project that the minimum infectious dose could be as high as 80,000 spores (2). Because the early symptoms so closely resemble viral infections or the common cold, anthrax diagnosis proves difficult. While acute phase symptoms are more readily diagnosable, the disease's advanced progression often makes treatments ineffective at this point (5). Moreover, in the US, there were only 11 reported cases of inhalational anthrax between 1945 and 1994, and so few health physicians have clinical experience with the disease (6). In ... • 39. Samuel Beckett¨s Novel Molloy and Its Particular Style,... There's no question Samuel Beckett was deeply influenced by the avant–garde style of fellow Irish novelist James Joyce when writing Molloy. Both Beckett and Joyce allude to the classics (Dante's Purgatorio and Homer's Odyssey, respectively) and both extensively employ interior monologue to often similar effect. Even so, Beckett, ever aware of the shadow cast by his former mentor, also attempted to eschew Joycean tendencies in his works, as demonstrated in Molloy. Here, not only does Beckett entirely deny readers the luxury of context, he deconstructs the very fundamentals of novel and narrative. Distinctly metafictional in form, Molloy self–consciously underlines its own artificiality and, on a universal level, that intrinsic to fiction itself. Like the titular allusion of Joyce's Ulysses, the two protagonists in Molloy also embark on a voyage of sorts, albeit the nature of which is even more so internalized. As a result, there's not much by way of plot or setting, which remain intentionally hazy. Still, the novel moves, sometimes at a dizzying pace, in part to its frequent digressions and elision of so many vital answers: Are Molloy and Moran the same character? Is it possible Molloy may not even be a person altogether but rather an alter ego of Moran? Is Molloy a state of mind? What exactly does it mean to be "searching for Molloy"?
