Music video do’s and don’ts
DO DON’T
Stick to a certain theme that connects to
the song in some way.
Keep the camera stationary and focused on
one point.
Use appropriate lighting for the song in the
video, e.g. a lighthearted song may want
brighter lights etc.
Shoot from far away. Keep it close enough
to see what’s going on.
Include some footage of the artist or artists Make the equipment do all the work, you
could have the best equipment in the world
but without the skill you would still produce
a bad video
Make it interesting, don’t want the
audience getting bored of the video.
Completely juxtapose the music to the
video.
Keep a wide variety of different camera
shots and angles
Just make the video purely artist based.
Overuse stereotypes.
