Joshy editing logs 1
1. Day 1: Firstly I imported my clips into final cut pro. I started to
sequence my clips so they were in the right order. After looking
back on the clips I noticed the lighting wasnโt acceptable. This
gave me the idea to implement a night vision affect onto some
clips. This fixes the problem of lighting and also gives a spooky
feel to the trailer. To do this I changed the; red, blue and green
balance.
Day 2: After colour correcting my clips and cut some clips to
change the tone of the video. I got rid of some un-needed
footage. I also used garage band to find the right sound effects
for some clips. For example I added a rumbling effect to a
scene. This creates a dangerous vibe to the trailer. I spent a
long time finding the right sound effect for my trailer because
sound is more crucial in horror trailers than it is in other
movie trailers. In addition I added some visual effects, one
effect appeared to be a camera malfunction. This was
consistent throughout the trailer. I tried to give the
impression that every time the camera malfunctioned the
paranormal entity was near.
2. Day 3: The 3rd day of editing was using motion to create inter-titles. The
use of inter-titles is to display information and split up the trailer so it
maintains the pace you want. I also proof watched my trailer. After re-
watching my trailer I decided to re-arrange some clips to give the audience
a better understanding of the narrative. I also cut a few clips so the trailer
moved quicker.
Day 4: The 4th day was finding the right transitions and fades for my trailer if I
needed any. As it is a faux found footage trailer it need to look as natural as
possible however I did add a transitions which made the clips cut to one another
quicker. This helped create a fast paced trailer which is common amongst horror
trailers.
