• Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose?
• I think this poster is fit for its intended purpose, however it was the first thing I created for my campaign and I think I have developed my
style and skills throughout the project which can be seen in the next two posters and website pages. However I still think that this poster is
fit for its intended purpose because it addresses the issue of deforestation in a clear and effective way, for example the purpose of the
campaign is to make people do something about deforestation. I think it achieves this because of the text that accompanies the image, as it
says ‘Deforestation kills more than trees. YOU can help us change this.’ this both makes it obvious what the campaign is about and also
makes the audience want to do something to help. I also think the poster is fit for its intended purpose as the image is powerful- I did this
to encourage the audience to do something about deforestation. Also when first designing my campaign I found from my audience research
survey that a lot of people were already concerned but weren’t acting on the concern so I wanted to create a campaign that wasn’t too
scary or hard-hitting but just enough so that my audience felt they had to make a difference after seeing the campaign so therefore I think
this has been successful because people have said after viewing my campaign that their opinions have changed and that they would
consider doing more to help in the future. From my feedback survey where I showed my target audience my finished products, I have found
that other people also think that this poster is fit for its intended purpose as all of the responses I have collected have all said they think
they are. I also think my posters are fit for their intended purpose because when looking back at existing products I researched such as
posters and logos from charities such as WWF and Greenpeace they have similar characteristics .
• Do they communicate your message clearly?
• I think this poster does communicate my message clearly because the message I wanted to communicate to my audience was that we need
to stop deforestation and the public need to start doing something to help. I think this poster clearly shows this through the imagery used
(the tree in the hands) and the text used (its in YOUR hands). This paired together makes the audience think more and helps to make them
realise that they can do something to help and they need to act now in order to help. I also think they communicate the message clearly
because when I asked my audience through my feed back survey ‘What do you think the message of this poster is?’ they responded with
replies such as ‘To stop people from cutting down the rainforest’, ‘to stop deforestation and save the planet’ and ‘That we should look after
our planet more.’ which are all messages I wanted people to get from my campaign so I know that my audience have got the right message
from my campaign which makes it more successful as a campaign.
• Are they appropriate for your target audience?
• Although the image on the poster of the tree in the hands paired with the ‘It’s in YOUR hands.’ text is quite powerful and has quite a serious
message I still think this is appropriate for my target audience (which was all ages) because it doesn’t have any graphic imagery in it like
some other charities campaign posters like the Rainforest Rescue posters I looked at for my existing products research.

• Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at.
• When looking back at my idea generation I have stuck quite well to my original intentions with what I wanted my poster to look
like, however my original intention was to have a more realistic hand than the cartoon one I have now, I decided to change this
during production as when I created a realistic hand it didn’t look right and didn’t fit the rest of my art style which was quite
cartoon like i.e. my logo. (picture of the original hands can be seen below.) also my original intention was to have the hands an
unrealistic colour (blue) as I thought this would ensure that my poster was accessible to everyone and didn’t offend any of my
audience. However, I changed this during production to skin colour as i accepted that the blue hands didn’t look right and were
distracting from the rest of my poster and then the audience wouldn’t take in the message properly because their attention would
be on just the hands. Overall, even though it has meant changing my original plans I am happy with the changes I have made and
the outcome I have reached with the poster because it looks a lot better now I have progressed with my original intentions and I
think the poster is more effective in communicating my message now.
• How effective are the techniques you have used?
• To create my posters I used the rotoscoping technique, I think this is effective in this poster because It gives the poster with a
serious message a more delicate approach which means that my audience are more likely to look at it and take the message on
board. The rotoscoping technique is also effective because the technique makes the things more simplified which was the effect I
wanted because I wanted all the attention to go to the message in the campaign. I also think that the rotoscoping technique has
been effective because the feedback I received on my survey would suggest this, for example, some responses I got were “the
rotoscoping gives it a solid look.” and “the technique gives it a memorable style”. This is all the feed back i wanted and I am
pleased with the responses because they were all positive about the technique used which would suggest that if I were put the
campaign out, it would a have a successful effective as a lot of my target audience have said they like it.
• Is the content effective?
• This poster probably has the most serious message when compared to the other two I have created as the text ‘Its in YOUR
hands.” is quite hard-hitting- especially because of the image of the tree in the hands next to it, this is why I think the content of
this poster is effective because it gets straight to the point and the audience know what it is about straight away. I also think it is
effective because of the text “YOU can help us change this.” as that makes the audience want to act on their concern which is
generated by this poster. I also think the bird and chameleon are effective as they help to make the audience realise that we are
not just loosing trees from the rainforest.

• What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public?
• I think my advertising campaign, particularly this poster, would have a successful effect on the public and would communicate my message
well to them- therefore helping to have a positive effect on decreasing deforestation which is the purpose of my campaign. I think this
poster in particular because of the powerful text would have strong effective on the public because it would make them think on the issue
more which would encourage them to act. When looking back at the existing campaigns I researched such as posters from WWF, Rainforest
Rescue and Greenpeace who all create very powerful and successful posters as part of their advertising campaigns I think my poster does
have some similarities to them, especially the Rainforest Rescue who create more cartoon-like posters, like I have done whereas the other
two (WWF and Greenpeace) create more realistic images in their posters. As my poster is quite similar to the Rainforest Rescue’s style, and
their posters and campaigns are very popular and have a successful effect on their audience this is another reason that I think my poster
would be successful.
• What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work?
• A technical quality of this poster is how I have used colours and gradients to make the posters graphics look more professional yet still
cartoon-like which is the effect I wanted. I have done this by using the gradient tool on the hands to almost created a shadow effect- this
makes the hands more aesthetically pleasing for my audience because they look better and therefore more professional, this is good
because it could lead onto someone viewing the poster and then backing the campaign because they liked the professionalism of it.
Another technical quality is that used the ruler and left align tool on Photoshop to make sure all my text ended in the same place and was
all exactly the same distance away from the edge of the poster, it was small details like this that help to give my poster more aesthetic
qualities which encourage would encourage the audience to follow and keep up to date with our campaigns if they like the look of the
posters.

Poster 2 Evaluation
• Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose?
• The purpose for my second poster was similar to my first poster and that was to make posters which are professional and to make
people more aware of deforestation and the effect it is having on everything, not just humans. However this poster was more
focused on how many trees we are loosing through deforestation rather than its effect on humans. I think my poster has
successfully reached this intended purpose as the graphics I have created for it and the text I have used clearly shows that is what
it is about.
• Do they communicate your message clearly?
• As I have mentioned in the previous paragraph I think the graphics and text do a good job of communicating the message (which
was to make people realise how many trees we are loosing to deforestation). I think I have achieved that in this poster because
when looking at my feedback survey, all of my audience guessed correctly on what they thought the message of this poster was,
for example some responses I got were: ‘I believe that the overall message of this campaign is that we all have the ability to help
stop the destruction and deforestation occurring in the rainforests, and it's important that we all take a stand and do our part to
prevent this from happening.’ and ‘To stop people from cutting down the rainforest.’ these would suggest that my message has
been communicated clearly in this poster.
• Are they appropriate for your target audience?
• I think this poster is suitable for my target audience even though it carries a strong message like my first one, I don’t think this is
likely to upset or harm any of my target audience because I haven't include any real images of it happening so my posters have that
cartoon-like element from my rotoscoping which stop them from being deadly serious while still carrying a serious message.
Poster 2 Evaluation Continued…
• Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at.
• For this poster I have pretty much stuck to exactly what I planned and that was to rotoscope two trees and show n of them falling
while having the caption ‘YOU can cut down on deforestation.’ I stuck to this idea fully because I thought it worked well and I didn’t
feel the need to change anything during production. The only thing I have added is the hashtage and the facebook/twitter logos
which I added because when looking at existing campaign posters they had all of this information featured on their posters, so I
thought adding this would help to make my campaign and posters look more professional.
• How effective are the techniques you have used?
• I used pretty much the same techniques to create this poster as I did on the first one and I did that because I thought it would
create a nice and similar style which would run throughout the posters. However, an extremely effective technique I used on this
poster was the motion blur, this makes the tree that’s cut down actually look like its falling which is eye-catching and helps to make
my posters look more professional.
• Is the content effective?
• I think the content of this poster is effective, especially because of the text as this is hard-hitting for the audience to read, because
its telling they need to start doing more to cut down on deforestation and that information may be difficult to accept, I also think
the content is effective because of the feedback I have received on it saying that ‘I felt that the layout, colour schemes, fonts and
other elements that featured in the posters and website were all very suited to the topic of the campaign and were all very
consistent throughout, which helped to establish a "look" to the campaign, which is very important and was very well done in this
campaign.’ this would suggest that as far as the contents style goes this have been very effective in making the campaign effective
and professional.
Poster 2 Evaluation Continued…
• What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public?
• I think that if I was to put this poster out in the public domain it would have a successful effect in cutting the numbers of
deforestation obviously this would take sometime to see if a difference had been made but I think basing it on the
feedback I have received from my target audience on my survey I could have a successful and popular campaign- if
promoted properly, for example some feedback which backs this up is: ‘I think if you actually launched this campaign, it
would be very successful!’
• What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work?
• A technical quality is rotoscoping around each individual bush on the tree to create intricate detail on the poster, this
makes the trees more aesthetically pleasing because they are very intricate and this would be appreciated by the audience
and they are more likely to remember and pay attention the both the campaign and the charity if they like it. Another
technical quality of this is how i have used the motion blur tool to create the look that the tree is falling, I did this by
duplicating that layer and putting the motion blur on the tree copy underneath and angled the blur so it looked as if it
were falling, this has giving it a very effective aesthetical quality as it has made it pleasing for the viewer to look at.

Poster 3 Evaluation
• Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose?
• The intended purpose of this poster was similar to the others and this was to raise awareness and cut down on deforestation. However this
one was concerned more with the effect deforestation has on animals, so the purpose of it was to make a poster that displays this clearly to
the target audience and I think I have done this by creating a graphic of an orangutan as this helps to make the purpose obvious to the
audience.
• Do they communicate your message clearly?
• When comparing the tree poster I have created I think this has the biggest message and would be the most effective because it is focused
on the effect deforestation is having on animals and everyone always feels sad and emotional when something concerns animals being
hurt, so therefore I think this one is the best at communicating the message of the damage that deforestation is doing to the world and
everything on it.
• Are they appropriate for your target audience?
• Because this poster is concerned with the effect deforestation is having on animals and has the text ‘do YOU want to see them homeless’ on
It, this could upset some younger members of my target audience so I would have to look and think into that more and if it would upset
anyone, I would have to put it up in places were they are unlikely to see it.
• Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at.
• For this poster, I have half and half stuck to my original intentions, for example I have stuck to my idea to have the orangutan looking
directly at the audience to act as direct address to make the audience feel like they need to act to help after seeing the poster whether this
be through making donations or changing their habits to cut down on deforestation. However, something I have not stuck to is having faded
trees behind the orangutan as I thought during production that having different sized ones looked better than fading them as having
different sized ones is better at creating depth in the poster- helping it to look more professional and appealing.
Poster 3 Evaluation Continued…
• How effective are the techniques you have used?
• Even though the techniques I have used in this poster are similar to the other two, I still think they are effective because they have helped
to make my posters all look like they are part of the same campaign which is what I wanted from them. I also think the rotoscoping
technique is effective in this because I had to rotoscope some intricate pieces like the orangutans eyes, so this helped to add detail to my
poster and therefore helps to make it look more professional.
• Is the content effective?
• i think the content of this poster is extremely effective, from the graphics I have created of the trees and the orangutan to the text used-
they both help to convey the message to the audience in a clear and simple way which was one of my intended purposes. I also think the
content is effective because it put social media links on their which will be effective in spreading my campaign and opening it up to a larger
target audience.
• What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public?
• I think If I were to put this poster out there as part of a wider campaign it would have a successful effect on the audience, just like I have
said for the rest of my posters because I think this one Is clear and straight to the point which makes it easy for the audience to understand
which means they are more likely to act on the message if they can understand it= successful effect on lowering deforestation numbers, I
also think this poster would have a particularly successful effect on the public because it would make them sad to hear about the effect
deforestation has on animals so they more likely to do something about the issue.
• What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work?
• Another technical quality of not just this poster, but all of them would be how I have used all the same hues and undertones in the colours I
have chosen i.e. similar browns and greens but just slightly different, the slight difference in the colours hues and darkness help to create
depth in the posters, therefore improving the aesthetic quality for the audience. Another technical quality would be using a drop shadow,
this then makes an aesthetic impact on the poster by making it look better by adding depth to the poster.
Logo
Logo Evaluation
• Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose?
• This is my finished logo, I created this after experimenting and creating many other different logos. I chose this one as I felt this best met the
purpose of the campaign. I think this campaign logo is fit for its intended purpose as it clearly states the name of the charity, the style of it also
helps the audience to realise quickly what the charity and campaign is about which is what I wanted the logo to do- so therefore it reaches its
intended purpose. I also think it reaches its intended purpose because it is simple enough to be easily recognisable to the audience if they
continue to see it and this is what I wanted so that the campaign and charity would become more successful.
• Do they communicate your message clearly?
• I think my logo does communicate my message clearly because of the feedback I received on my survey, for example some comments I had
were ‘I do think it is effective as it clear what the campaign is about.’ and ‘I really like the campaign logo that has been used. The design for the
logo is well-suited to the topic of the campaign because of the colours used, and the slogan "Rescue Our Rainforests" is very memorable, and
therefore effective.’ I personally also think that my logo communicates my message clearly because of the shape of the logo, I developed this
shape from a leaf and simplified it down to make it more basic so I didn’t detract my audiences attention from the main poster.
• Are they appropriate for your target audience?
• As my target audience was quite wide because I wanted my campaign to make all ages aware of the deforestation issue, I had to make sure that
the artefacts I created were suitable for all ages think the logo is appropriate for my target audience because it is very simple and isn’t graphic
in any way like some other campaigns I researched.
• Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at.
• While generating ideas for logos, I created a lot of possible options. The first one I created was based on the shape of a leaf I then rotoscoped
out individual leaves so I could move them all separately. I then drew a text line to write through the arch where the stalk would’ve been and
then warped the text so it arched to mimic the stalk with the text ‘Rescue Our Rainforests’. I liked this because I thought the leaf style of it
linked well to the theme and subject of the campaign as a whole but once I shrunk it to fit on the poster the text became hard to read and
understand so I chose not to use it as a logo because I wanted one which would stand out and be recognisable for the audience when they see
anything associated with ‘Rescue Our Rainforests’. My second logo I developed again from a leaf as I liked that about the first one because I felt
it fit the theme of the campaign as I mentioned previously, however I changed the style of it to be slightly more cartoon-like to make it fit the
art style of the campaign better. I chose not to use this logo as my final logo because I thought it was too ‘busy’ and therefore distracting from
the main graphics in my poster and this was a concern as I wanted the audience to take in the message of the poster. When I finally reached my
final logo I had changed from my original intentions quite considerably, however my final logo was developed and based heavily on my second
logo, as I liked everything about the second one I decided to use it but simplify it down so it was too large, I also like the font in my final logo
because it fits with the theme and is similar to other fonts I have seen used by other charities working on the same issue. Overall, even though
I have changed my logo quite a lot and it is different to my original intentions I am happy with the outcome as I think it works effectively as a
logo and is simple enough to become recognisable to the audience which is what I wanted so that the charity and campaign would become
more successful.
Logo Evaluation Continued…
• How effective are the techniques you have used?
• The techniques I used in creating this was mainly rotoscoping but I also used other techniques like adding a gradient and adding a stroke. I
think these techniques have all worked well together- I think the rotoscoping is effective because it is neat and this improves the quality
and professional style of not just the logo but also the posters and campaign as a whole. I also think the gradient is effective because it adds
depth to the logo instead of it just being block colour, adding the stroke around the individual shapes makes the logo more prominent on
the posters which will help to spread around Rescue Our Rainforests as a charity.
• Is the content effective?
• I think the content of my logo is effective because it tells my audience the name of the charity which gives them an idea of what we are
trying to achieve, the colours and shapes used to create the logo help to make the audience immediately aware of what my campaign is
about. I also think my logo is effective because my audience do too- when looking at the feedback I received on my survey I have seen
comments like “The design for the logo is well-suited to the topic of the campaign in both colour and shape, and the slogan "Rescue Our
Rainforests" is very memorable, and therefore effective.” and “Yes, it states what the campaign is about and gives the audience
information”. These comments reinforce what I like about my logo and why I think it is effective so I am happy that the design works well as
a logo.
• What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public?
• Currently, from the feedback I have received on my survey which has said that my campaign logo is extremely effective and fits the
campaign well- I think that my logo would have a positive effect in helping my campaign progress and get more recognition for the issue.
• What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work?
• A technical quality of my logo is how I have used the technique of adding a stroke around the outside, aesthetically- this makes it more eye-
catching and prominent as it makes it bolder, this works well and helps it to stand out on posters. Another technical quality is that I have
added a gradient to the leaves, the gives it an aesthetical quality of adding depth to the logo making it look more professional and bold.

Website ‘About Us’ Page Evaluation
• Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose?
• This was my idea for my fourth piece of work on my campaign, I decided to create a website so it would work hand-in-hand with my posters
e.g. after viewing my posters people could look at the website to follow up their interest. The purpose for my website was to make it easy
to use, accessible to my audience and also make it easy for the audience to realise what the aims of the campaign is. I used images of
pieces I developed for my posters to create the banner across the top which is designed to be interactive so my audience can click on each
one to view existing campaign, I did this so that my website is easy to navigate and accessible for my audience. I think my website provides
my audience with a lot of information but some feedback I have received on my survey has stated ‘add extra information to the website but
overall the campaign is very good.’ on the what to improve section, this is a useful piece of information as it shows that sometimes your
audience can think differently and I need to listen to feedback to be able to make they improvements they suggest.
• Do they communicate your message clearly?
• I think my ‘about us’ page does the best job, over my posters and merchandise at communicating and making my audience realise what the
campaigns and charity is about and our message as whole because I have designed it so it clearly states ‘Our Vision’ along with other similar
pieces of information which explains our message to my target audience, by providing this information I think it would encourage more
people to visit the site as people would be able to understand it easily and like this side of it.
• Are they appropriate for your target audience?
• I think this website is fully suitable for my target audience as because I wanted to target all ages, I had to take extra care in making sure my
website did not contain anything that wasn’t suitable such as graphic images that relate to my campaigns, like animals suffering from
deforestation. When doing my existing products research on websites that campaign on similar things to me, I saw that they were using
images like that but I decided not to take inspiration from this as I believe that would've narrowed my target audience down as that
wouldn’t of been suitable for younger children. I also think my ‘about us’ website page is suitable for my ‘all ages’ target audience as I have
used language that is simple and easy to understand, therefore this helps to not exclude any different types of people from my campaign. I
have also designed this web page so that it is easy to navigate- therefore this helps to appeal to older generations too which are
stereotyped as being challenged by technology, this again helps to meet one of my intended purposes of making my website accessible and
easy for all to use.
Website ‘About Us’ Page Evaluation

• Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at.
• I have stuck well to my original intentions when creating my website and I have stuck to inspiration I said I would take from the websites I looked at
when planning my website, for example when creating my mood board ideas I looked at the WWF website and from this I liked the idea of having lots
of ways for their audience to donate, and my original intention was to have something like this on my website but because I found I didn’t have much
room I only added a ‘donate’ button across the menu bar- this is something I would go back to develop and change as obviously donations would be
important to my charity so I need my audience to see they can easily do that. Another one of my original intentions when planning my website was to
have a banner across the top, I saw this on the Greenpeace website and I thought it looked eye-catching and would be effective in making them want
to read on about rescue our rainforests. So I decided to take this and develop it on my website, however instead of just putting one campaign on my
banner I decided I would feature all my campaigns- I thought this would give my audience a better idea of what the charity is about and it is an easy
way of accessing details about all of my campaigns just by clicking on the banner. I also think this looks good too as it is colourful and eye catching on
the top of the page which will appeal to my to my audience as many other websites that cover similar topics are gloomy so the audience would
hopefully prefer to look and read about something not as serious. Another intention when creating my website was to have a full contact us page like
Rainforest Rescue have, which people could click on to contact the charity to find out more information and give any feedback. This is an intention
which has changed significantly during production as I have not made a full contact us page and I have only created a ‘contact us’ link at the bottom of
the page because I didn’t want to make the menu bar too full, however, I still think this works well because a lot of other websites just have a contact
us link at the bottom too- I also think having it at the bottom still works well because it is large and bold enough for people to see it easily. Another
original intention was to create two pages of a website that have a consistent style in both and also both match the posters and I feel this has been
achieved when looking at the final outcome. Overall, a lot of my original intentions have developed and changed during production but I expected this
because my ideas always develop and change depending on what is working for the campaign and what isn’t.
• How effective are the techniques you have used?
• I think this website is fully suitable for my target audience as because I wanted to target all ages, I had to take extra care in making sure my website
did not contain anything that wasn’t suitable such as graphic images that relate to my campaigns, like animals suffering from deforestation. When

intended purposes of making my website accessible and easy for all to use.
Website ‘About Us’ Page Evaluation

• Is the content effective?
• My ‘about us’ page has a lot of content telling the audience about what Rescue Our Rainforests stands for and ‘our vision’ as well as how
the audience can ‘help us’. I decided to add this information so that my audience would find my charity and campaigns more accessible and
easy to understand. I also think the content of my website is effective because it is laid out in a clear and informative way so that anyone
who stumbles across the site knows immediately what topics and issues we cover. I also think that my website is effective because I asked
on my feedback survey a general quantitative question ‘Do you think the campaign content is effective?’ and all the responses I received
ticked ‘yes’, therefore suggesting my audience also think the content is effective. This was obviously a very general question but I also got
some more specific feedback on the content of the website and a member of my audience stated ‘the content and layout of the website is
very effective and has a consistent style to the posters.’ I am pleased my audience think this because that means that the website has also
met its original intention of having a consistent style that match the posters.
• What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public?
• I think If was to do this properly and put my campaign out to the public I would have a very positive response from the ‘about us’ website
page because when comparing it to existing products and websites I researched from charities such as WWF, Greenpeace and Rainforest
Rescue I think it looks professional and follows typical codes and conventions of other ‘about us’ website pages, such as simple things like
showing the logo, telling the audience what we are about by having a information section, these are things which I think would make my
campaign website successful if it was done properly because it is easy to use so this would appeal to my target audience. I also think my
website ‘about us’ page would be successful because of the positive feedback I have received, for example some feedback I received stated
‘everything in the campaign was extremely effective and aesthetically pleasing. I think if you actually launched this campaign, it would be
very successful!’ so therefore I think that the website page would have a successful effect in making my campaign reach its aim in having a
successful effect in lowering deforestation.

• What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work?
• I think there are many technical and aesthetic qualities to my ‘About Us’ website page, one technical quality being how I have used the
same font for all of the website and this is also the same as what is used on the posters- as an aesthetic quality this helps to make the
website more pleasing and nice to look at and therefore meaning more people are likely to use it and spread the word about the charity,
therefore widening my target audience and making both my campaigns and charity more successful. Another technical quality of my
website is how I have used the ruler tool on Photoshop to align everything, this makes it more aesthetically pleasing for the audience and
connotes professionalism to my audience therefore making them think highly of the charity. Another technical quality of my work is how I
have used various tools and techniques in order to create the banner across the top of the page- to do this I used the blend them together
and used merge layers tool to make them all one layer so that they would move easily and stick together to create a banner, this has
created another aesthetical quality to my work because it looks professional and eye-catching and is similar to what other charity websites
do, therefore making mine seem of a similar standard to those to the audience.

Website ‘Merchandise’ Page Evaluation
• Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose?
• As I mentioned when analysing my ‘about us’ web page- my idea for my fourth piece of work on my campaign, I decided to
create a website so it would work hand-in-hand with my posters e.g. after viewing my posters people could look at the
website to follow up their interest. One of my intended purposes for this page of the website was to give my target
audience an outlet to buy Rescue Our Rainforests merchandise, I think I have successfully achieved this because the
website page is clear and easy to read.
• Do they communicate your message clearly?
• The message of this page was to make it clear and easy to buy merchandise so yes I think it does communicate the
message clearly. Another reason why I think this communicates the message clearly is because when asked a response I
got from my survey was, ‘Yes, I do think that both website pages communicate the message of the campaign clearly’.
• Are they appropriate for your target audience?
• I also think this page of my website is fully suitable for my target audience as because I wanted to target all ages, I had to
take extra care in making sure my website did not contain anything that wasn’t suitable such as graphic images that relate
to my campaigns, like animals suffering from deforestation. I have also made my merchandise page suitable and
appropriate for my target audience as I have designed it to be simple to use to both ends of my target audience
(young/old) can interact and access it easily.

• Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at.
• As I created this page after my ‘About Us’ page my main intention was to keep it to a similar style throughout e.g. same fonts and colours
used/same layout of pages etc. I think I have achieved this and that helps to make it look more professional and of a higher standard which
would make my campaign more popular and successful. However, one intention I didn’t stick to from my planning was the idea of having a
scroll down bar on the right side of the merchandise box but I decided during production to change this to a Click HERE to see more
merchandise button because I thought this was more obvious and easy for my target audience. Another original intention was to make the
merchandise clear to see and so it stands out, I think I have achieved this.
• How effective are the techniques you have used?
• Techniques are the same as mentioned on slide 15. “I think this website is fully suitable for my target audience as because I wanted to
target all ages, I had to take extra care in making sure my website did not contain anything that wasn’t suitable such as graphic images that
relate to my campaigns, like animals suffering from deforestation. When doing my existing products research on websites that campaign on
similar things to me, I saw that they were using images like that but I decided not to take inspiration from this as I believe that would've
narrowed my target audience down as that wouldn’t of been suitable for younger children. I also think my ‘about us’ website page is
suitable for my ‘all ages’ target audience as I have used language that is simple and easy to understand, therefore this helps to not exclude
any different types of people from my campaign. I have also designed this web page so that it is easy to navigate- therefore this helps to
appeal to older generations too which are stereotyped as being challenged by technology, this again helps to meet one of my intended
purposes of making my website accessible and easy for all to use.” however a techniques I just used on this page was placing a cropping
jpeg images so the audience could clearly see the merchandise on the website, I think this has been effective because the merchandise
definitely stands out on the page which was one of my original intentions I mentioned above.
Website ‘Merchandise’ Page Evaluation
Continued…
• Is the content effective?
• I think the content of this page is effective because it features my merchandise which I think is effective in itself. However
the actual content of this web page is also effective because the content Is clearly displayed making it catch the audiences
eye and so therefore the content would be effective in making them more likely to purchase some of the merchandise.
However, something I would perhaps improve on this page would be adding ‘all money from purchases goes back into the
charity.’ as this would probably add further encouragement to the audience to buy some merchandise.
• What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public?
• I think this page of the website would be effective and have a positive effect on the audience and would encourage them
to buy merchandise to support the campaign and charity. I think this because not only would the merchandise itself
appeal to the audience but because I have designed the website to be easy to use this would also encourage them buy
because its easy to do.
• What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work?
• I think the technical and aesthetic qualities of this page is very similar to the ‘about us’ page and the two pages are very
similar. However, a technical quality of this page would be how I have aligned the text columns which described the merch
so each one is directly under each other using the ruler tool- this creates an aesthetical quality because it just adds to the
small things that hep to make my website page look more professional which was one of my original intentions.
Merchandise
Merchandise Evaluation
• Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose?
• One of my intended purposes was I decided that I wanted my merchandise to be wearable for my audience so I didn’t want to create
anything that they wouldn't want to wear because that would not help to put my charity out there. Another intended purpose was to
create merch which appealed to all ages of my target audience and products that my target audience will find useful which would
encourage them to buy them- therefore making my campaign more successful.
• Do they communicate your message clearly?
• I think my merchandise clearly communicates to my audience and other people that see people wearing and using the merchandise what
the message of my campaign is because it shows my logo which makes it very obvious what the
• Are they appropriate for your target audience?
• I think my merchandise is definitely appropriate for all of my target audience as it doesn’t contain anything that is graphic/violent, I also
think it is appealing and appropriate for all of my target audience because they are the sort of products that appeal to all ages and genders
and something that all ages and genders will find use out of. I have also made sure that I have created both male and female versions of the
same t-shirt so I don’t exclude any types of people of my target audience. I also think that I am appealing to a lot of ages in my merchandise
as I have created products which will appeal to different ages (which was one of my original intentions) e.g. the notebook will appeal to the
younger ages in my TA like students.
• Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at.
• I stuck to some of my original intentions but not all, this was because my ideas developed a lot during production as I experimented and
found out what worked well and what didn’t. For example, one of my original intentions that I didn’t stick to was to take inspiration from
Greenpeace by putting my web address on some pieces of the merchandise i.e. t-shirts, but I decided this wouldn’t work well or look nice
and my target audience wouldn’t want to walk about with a website on them and this would compromise the success of my campaign if
people didn’t like my merchandise enough to buy It because then it wouldn't be “out there” for other people to see it. One of my original
intentions I have stuck to when looking back at my mood board planning is the use of neutral and khaki colours which I took inspiration
from WWF for, I think this works well and goes with the topics and issues of my campaign well as they do denote/connote thoughts of the
rainforest to the audience (making it even more obvious what my campaign is about when they see the merchandise) this also helps
everything I have created follow a similar style in both fonts and colour.
Merchandise Evaluation Continued…
• How effective are the techniques you have used?
• To create my merchandise I used the logo I had already produced to upload to Redbubble to allow me use this as a design for my
merchandise, to create my logo I used many different techniques which I spoke about on slide 12 such as rotoscoping mainly with strokes
and gradient techniques. As for the techniques I used to create specific pieces of merch I used tools on Redbubble such as saving the file as
a png with no background so I didn’t get a block white background on coloured t-shirts. I also used a different technique on my notebook to
enable me to repeat the pattern, I thought as this was quite interesting and different it would help me appeal to the youngergeneration in
my target audience.
• Is the content effective?
• I do think the content and actual products are effective because they clearly show the logo of my campaign which then tells the audience
what the campaign is about, the content (merch) is also effective because it is eye catching because the design (the logo) isvery in-your-
face, this will make it memorable when people see others wearing the merchandise- therefore acting as free advertising for my charity and
campaign which is what charities need.
• What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public?
• I think having merchandise as part of my campaign will have a positive and successful effect on the public as my target audience would buy
it and wear it and then inevitably my target audience will grow when more people see people wearing/using it and research into the
campaign by looking at the website and posters- this will also mean that my campaign products will also go hand-in-hand and work
together i.e. people see the merch and then look at the website and/or posters to follow up their interest and see what we’reabout.
• What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work?
• The technical and aesthetic qualities of my logo which makes up the design on the merchandise have already been spoken abouton slide
12. However, the technical qualities of my actual merchandise involved me saving the logo as a png with no background, this technical
quality led onto an aesthetic quality because if I hadn't of done this I would've ended up with a block white background on my
merchandise. Another technical quality was changing the colours of my merchandise to relate to my topic, this has made it look
aesthetically pleasing because the colours are different and unusual. The aesthetic quality of my work is important because if that is of a
high standard more people will but it which= more money and promotion for both the charity and my campaigns

Evaluation

  • 3. Poster 1 Evaluation • Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose? • I think this poster is fit for its intended purpose, however it was the first thing I created for my campaign and I think I have developed my style and skills throughout the project which can be seen in the next two posters and website pages. However I still think that this poster is fit for its intended purpose because it addresses the issue of deforestation in a clear and effective way, for example the purpose of the campaign is to make people do something about deforestation. I think it achieves this because of the text that accompanies the image, as it says ‘Deforestation kills more than trees. YOU can help us change this.’ this both makes it obvious what the campaign is about and also makes the audience want to do something to help. I also think the poster is fit for its intended purpose as the image is powerful- I did this to encourage the audience to do something about deforestation. Also when first designing my campaign I found from my audience research survey that a lot of people were already concerned but weren’t acting on the concern so I wanted to create a campaign that wasn’t too scary or hard-hitting but just enough so that my audience felt they had to make a difference after seeing the campaign so therefore I think this has been successful because people have said after viewing my campaign that their opinions have changed and that they would consider doing more to help in the future. From my feedback survey where I showed my target audience my finished products, I have found that other people also think that this poster is fit for its intended purpose as all of the responses I have collected have all said they think they are. I also think my posters are fit for their intended purpose because when looking back at existing products I researched such as posters and logos from charities such as WWF and Greenpeace they have similar characteristics . • Do they communicate your message clearly? • I think this poster does communicate my message clearly because the message I wanted to communicate to my audience was that we need to stop deforestation and the public need to start doing something to help. I think this poster clearly shows this through the imagery used (the tree in the hands) and the text used (its in YOUR hands). This paired together makes the audience think more and helps to make them realise that they can do something to help and they need to act now in order to help. I also think they communicate the message clearly because when I asked my audience through my feed back survey ‘What do you think the message of this poster is?’ they responded with replies such as ‘To stop people from cutting down the rainforest’, ‘to stop deforestation and save the planet’ and ‘That we should look after our planet more.’ which are all messages I wanted people to get from my campaign so I know that my audience have got the right message from my campaign which makes it more successful as a campaign. • Are they appropriate for your target audience? • Although the image on the poster of the tree in the hands paired with the ‘It’s in YOUR hands.’ text is quite powerful and has quite a serious message I still think this is appropriate for my target audience (which was all ages) because it doesn’t have any graphic imagery in it like some other charities campaign posters like the Rainforest Rescue posters I looked at for my existing products research.
  • 4. Poster 1 Evaluation Continued… • Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at. • When looking back at my idea generation I have stuck quite well to my original intentions with what I wanted my poster to look like, however my original intention was to have a more realistic hand than the cartoon one I have now, I decided to change this during production as when I created a realistic hand it didn’t look right and didn’t fit the rest of my art style which was quite cartoon like i.e. my logo. (picture of the original hands can be seen below.) also my original intention was to have the hands an unrealistic colour (blue) as I thought this would ensure that my poster was accessible to everyone and didn’t offend any of my audience. However, I changed this during production to skin colour as i accepted that the blue hands didn’t look right and were distracting from the rest of my poster and then the audience wouldn’t take in the message properly because their attention would be on just the hands. Overall, even though it has meant changing my original plans I am happy with the changes I have made and the outcome I have reached with the poster because it looks a lot better now I have progressed with my original intentions and I think the poster is more effective in communicating my message now. • How effective are the techniques you have used? • To create my posters I used the rotoscoping technique, I think this is effective in this poster because It gives the poster with a serious message a more delicate approach which means that my audience are more likely to look at it and take the message on board. The rotoscoping technique is also effective because the technique makes the things more simplified which was the effect I wanted because I wanted all the attention to go to the message in the campaign. I also think that the rotoscoping technique has been effective because the feedback I received on my survey would suggest this, for example, some responses I got were “the rotoscoping gives it a solid look.” and “the technique gives it a memorable style”. This is all the feed back i wanted and I am pleased with the responses because they were all positive about the technique used which would suggest that if I were put the campaign out, it would a have a successful effective as a lot of my target audience have said they like it. • Is the content effective? • This poster probably has the most serious message when compared to the other two I have created as the text ‘Its in YOUR hands.” is quite hard-hitting- especially because of the image of the tree in the hands next to it, this is why I think the content of this poster is effective because it gets straight to the point and the audience know what it is about straight away. I also think it is effective because of the text “YOU can help us change this.” as that makes the audience want to act on their concern which is generated by this poster. I also think the bird and chameleon are effective as they help to make the audience realise that we are not just loosing trees from the rainforest. Original poster 1
  • 5. Poster 1 Evaluation Continued… • What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public? • I think my advertising campaign, particularly this poster, would have a successful effect on the public and would communicate my message well to them- therefore helping to have a positive effect on decreasing deforestation which is the purpose of my campaign. I think this poster in particular because of the powerful text would have strong effective on the public because it would make them think on the issue more which would encourage them to act. When looking back at the existing campaigns I researched such as posters from WWF, Rainforest Rescue and Greenpeace who all create very powerful and successful posters as part of their advertising campaigns I think my poster does have some similarities to them, especially the Rainforest Rescue who create more cartoon-like posters, like I have done whereas the other two (WWF and Greenpeace) create more realistic images in their posters. As my poster is quite similar to the Rainforest Rescue’s style, and their posters and campaigns are very popular and have a successful effect on their audience this is another reason that I think my poster would be successful. • What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work? • A technical quality of this poster is how I have used colours and gradients to make the posters graphics look more professional yet still cartoon-like which is the effect I wanted. I have done this by using the gradient tool on the hands to almost created a shadow effect- this makes the hands more aesthetically pleasing for my audience because they look better and therefore more professional, this is good because it could lead onto someone viewing the poster and then backing the campaign because they liked the professionalism of it. Another technical quality is that used the ruler and left align tool on Photoshop to make sure all my text ended in the same place and was all exactly the same distance away from the edge of the poster, it was small details like this that help to give my poster more aesthetic qualities which encourage would encourage the audience to follow and keep up to date with our campaigns if they like the look of the posters.
  • 7. Poster 2 Evaluation • Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose? • The purpose for my second poster was similar to my first poster and that was to make posters which are professional and to make people more aware of deforestation and the effect it is having on everything, not just humans. However this poster was more focused on how many trees we are loosing through deforestation rather than its effect on humans. I think my poster has successfully reached this intended purpose as the graphics I have created for it and the text I have used clearly shows that is what it is about. • Do they communicate your message clearly? • As I have mentioned in the previous paragraph I think the graphics and text do a good job of communicating the message (which was to make people realise how many trees we are loosing to deforestation). I think I have achieved that in this poster because when looking at my feedback survey, all of my audience guessed correctly on what they thought the message of this poster was, for example some responses I got were: ‘I believe that the overall message of this campaign is that we all have the ability to help stop the destruction and deforestation occurring in the rainforests, and it's important that we all take a stand and do our part to prevent this from happening.’ and ‘To stop people from cutting down the rainforest.’ these would suggest that my message has been communicated clearly in this poster. • Are they appropriate for your target audience? • I think this poster is suitable for my target audience even though it carries a strong message like my first one, I don’t think this is likely to upset or harm any of my target audience because I haven't include any real images of it happening so my posters have that cartoon-like element from my rotoscoping which stop them from being deadly serious while still carrying a serious message.
  • 8. Poster 2 Evaluation Continued… • Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at. • For this poster I have pretty much stuck to exactly what I planned and that was to rotoscope two trees and show n of them falling while having the caption ‘YOU can cut down on deforestation.’ I stuck to this idea fully because I thought it worked well and I didn’t feel the need to change anything during production. The only thing I have added is the hashtage and the facebook/twitter logos which I added because when looking at existing campaign posters they had all of this information featured on their posters, so I thought adding this would help to make my campaign and posters look more professional. • How effective are the techniques you have used? • I used pretty much the same techniques to create this poster as I did on the first one and I did that because I thought it would create a nice and similar style which would run throughout the posters. However, an extremely effective technique I used on this poster was the motion blur, this makes the tree that’s cut down actually look like its falling which is eye-catching and helps to make my posters look more professional. • Is the content effective? • I think the content of this poster is effective, especially because of the text as this is hard-hitting for the audience to read, because its telling they need to start doing more to cut down on deforestation and that information may be difficult to accept, I also think the content is effective because of the feedback I have received on it saying that ‘I felt that the layout, colour schemes, fonts and other elements that featured in the posters and website were all very suited to the topic of the campaign and were all very consistent throughout, which helped to establish a "look" to the campaign, which is very important and was very well done in this campaign.’ this would suggest that as far as the contents style goes this have been very effective in making the campaign effective and professional.
  • 9. Poster 2 Evaluation Continued… • What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public? • I think that if I was to put this poster out in the public domain it would have a successful effect in cutting the numbers of deforestation obviously this would take sometime to see if a difference had been made but I think basing it on the feedback I have received from my target audience on my survey I could have a successful and popular campaign- if promoted properly, for example some feedback which backs this up is: ‘I think if you actually launched this campaign, it would be very successful!’ • What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work? • A technical quality is rotoscoping around each individual bush on the tree to create intricate detail on the poster, this makes the trees more aesthetically pleasing because they are very intricate and this would be appreciated by the audience and they are more likely to remember and pay attention the both the campaign and the charity if they like it. Another technical quality of this is how i have used the motion blur tool to create the look that the tree is falling, I did this by duplicating that layer and putting the motion blur on the tree copy underneath and angled the blur so it looked as if it were falling, this has giving it a very effective aesthetical quality as it has made it pleasing for the viewer to look at.
  • 11. Poster 3 Evaluation • Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose? • The intended purpose of this poster was similar to the others and this was to raise awareness and cut down on deforestation. However this one was concerned more with the effect deforestation has on animals, so the purpose of it was to make a poster that displays this clearly to the target audience and I think I have done this by creating a graphic of an orangutan as this helps to make the purpose obvious to the audience. • Do they communicate your message clearly? • When comparing the tree poster I have created I think this has the biggest message and would be the most effective because it is focused on the effect deforestation is having on animals and everyone always feels sad and emotional when something concerns animals being hurt, so therefore I think this one is the best at communicating the message of the damage that deforestation is doing to the world and everything on it. • Are they appropriate for your target audience? • Because this poster is concerned with the effect deforestation is having on animals and has the text ‘do YOU want to see them homeless’ on It, this could upset some younger members of my target audience so I would have to look and think into that more and if it would upset anyone, I would have to put it up in places were they are unlikely to see it. • Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at. • For this poster, I have half and half stuck to my original intentions, for example I have stuck to my idea to have the orangutan looking directly at the audience to act as direct address to make the audience feel like they need to act to help after seeing the poster whether this be through making donations or changing their habits to cut down on deforestation. However, something I have not stuck to is having faded trees behind the orangutan as I thought during production that having different sized ones looked better than fading them as having different sized ones is better at creating depth in the poster- helping it to look more professional and appealing.
  • 12. Poster 3 Evaluation Continued… • How effective are the techniques you have used? • Even though the techniques I have used in this poster are similar to the other two, I still think they are effective because they have helped to make my posters all look like they are part of the same campaign which is what I wanted from them. I also think the rotoscoping technique is effective in this because I had to rotoscope some intricate pieces like the orangutans eyes, so this helped to add detail to my poster and therefore helps to make it look more professional. • Is the content effective? • i think the content of this poster is extremely effective, from the graphics I have created of the trees and the orangutan to the text used- they both help to convey the message to the audience in a clear and simple way which was one of my intended purposes. I also think the content is effective because it put social media links on their which will be effective in spreading my campaign and opening it up to a larger target audience. • What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public? • I think If I were to put this poster out there as part of a wider campaign it would have a successful effect on the audience, just like I have said for the rest of my posters because I think this one Is clear and straight to the point which makes it easy for the audience to understand which means they are more likely to act on the message if they can understand it= successful effect on lowering deforestation numbers, I also think this poster would have a particularly successful effect on the public because it would make them sad to hear about the effect deforestation has on animals so they more likely to do something about the issue. • What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work? • Another technical quality of not just this poster, but all of them would be how I have used all the same hues and undertones in the colours I have chosen i.e. similar browns and greens but just slightly different, the slight difference in the colours hues and darkness help to create depth in the posters, therefore improving the aesthetic quality for the audience. Another technical quality would be using a drop shadow, this then makes an aesthetic impact on the poster by making it look better by adding depth to the poster.
  • 13. Logo
  • 14. Logo Evaluation • Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose? • This is my finished logo, I created this after experimenting and creating many other different logos. I chose this one as I felt this best met the purpose of the campaign. I think this campaign logo is fit for its intended purpose as it clearly states the name of the charity, the style of it also helps the audience to realise quickly what the charity and campaign is about which is what I wanted the logo to do- so therefore it reaches its intended purpose. I also think it reaches its intended purpose because it is simple enough to be easily recognisable to the audience if they continue to see it and this is what I wanted so that the campaign and charity would become more successful. • Do they communicate your message clearly? • I think my logo does communicate my message clearly because of the feedback I received on my survey, for example some comments I had were ‘I do think it is effective as it clear what the campaign is about.’ and ‘I really like the campaign logo that has been used. The design for the logo is well-suited to the topic of the campaign because of the colours used, and the slogan "Rescue Our Rainforests" is very memorable, and therefore effective.’ I personally also think that my logo communicates my message clearly because of the shape of the logo, I developed this shape from a leaf and simplified it down to make it more basic so I didn’t detract my audiences attention from the main poster. • Are they appropriate for your target audience? • As my target audience was quite wide because I wanted my campaign to make all ages aware of the deforestation issue, I had to make sure that the artefacts I created were suitable for all ages think the logo is appropriate for my target audience because it is very simple and isn’t graphic in any way like some other campaigns I researched. • Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at. • While generating ideas for logos, I created a lot of possible options. The first one I created was based on the shape of a leaf I then rotoscoped out individual leaves so I could move them all separately. I then drew a text line to write through the arch where the stalk would’ve been and then warped the text so it arched to mimic the stalk with the text ‘Rescue Our Rainforests’. I liked this because I thought the leaf style of it linked well to the theme and subject of the campaign as a whole but once I shrunk it to fit on the poster the text became hard to read and understand so I chose not to use it as a logo because I wanted one which would stand out and be recognisable for the audience when they see anything associated with ‘Rescue Our Rainforests’. My second logo I developed again from a leaf as I liked that about the first one because I felt it fit the theme of the campaign as I mentioned previously, however I changed the style of it to be slightly more cartoon-like to make it fit the art style of the campaign better. I chose not to use this logo as my final logo because I thought it was too ‘busy’ and therefore distracting from the main graphics in my poster and this was a concern as I wanted the audience to take in the message of the poster. When I finally reached my final logo I had changed from my original intentions quite considerably, however my final logo was developed and based heavily on my second logo, as I liked everything about the second one I decided to use it but simplify it down so it was too large, I also like the font in my final logo because it fits with the theme and is similar to other fonts I have seen used by other charities working on the same issue. Overall, even though I have changed my logo quite a lot and it is different to my original intentions I am happy with the outcome as I think it works effectively as a logo and is simple enough to become recognisable to the audience which is what I wanted so that the charity and campaign would become more successful.
  • 15. Logo Evaluation Continued… • How effective are the techniques you have used? • The techniques I used in creating this was mainly rotoscoping but I also used other techniques like adding a gradient and adding a stroke. I think these techniques have all worked well together- I think the rotoscoping is effective because it is neat and this improves the quality and professional style of not just the logo but also the posters and campaign as a whole. I also think the gradient is effective because it adds depth to the logo instead of it just being block colour, adding the stroke around the individual shapes makes the logo more prominent on the posters which will help to spread around Rescue Our Rainforests as a charity. • Is the content effective? • I think the content of my logo is effective because it tells my audience the name of the charity which gives them an idea of what we are trying to achieve, the colours and shapes used to create the logo help to make the audience immediately aware of what my campaign is about. I also think my logo is effective because my audience do too- when looking at the feedback I received on my survey I have seen comments like “The design for the logo is well-suited to the topic of the campaign in both colour and shape, and the slogan "Rescue Our Rainforests" is very memorable, and therefore effective.” and “Yes, it states what the campaign is about and gives the audience information”. These comments reinforce what I like about my logo and why I think it is effective so I am happy that the design works well as a logo. • What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public? • Currently, from the feedback I have received on my survey which has said that my campaign logo is extremely effective and fits the campaign well- I think that my logo would have a positive effect in helping my campaign progress and get more recognition for the issue. • What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work? • A technical quality of my logo is how I have used the technique of adding a stroke around the outside, aesthetically- this makes it more eye- catching and prominent as it makes it bolder, this works well and helps it to stand out on posters. Another technical quality is that I have added a gradient to the leaves, the gives it an aesthetical quality of adding depth to the logo making it look more professional and bold.
  • 17. Website ‘About Us’ Page Evaluation • Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose? • This was my idea for my fourth piece of work on my campaign, I decided to create a website so it would work hand-in-hand with my posters e.g. after viewing my posters people could look at the website to follow up their interest. The purpose for my website was to make it easy to use, accessible to my audience and also make it easy for the audience to realise what the aims of the campaign is. I used images of pieces I developed for my posters to create the banner across the top which is designed to be interactive so my audience can click on each one to view existing campaign, I did this so that my website is easy to navigate and accessible for my audience. I think my website provides my audience with a lot of information but some feedback I have received on my survey has stated ‘add extra information to the website but overall the campaign is very good.’ on the what to improve section, this is a useful piece of information as it shows that sometimes your audience can think differently and I need to listen to feedback to be able to make they improvements they suggest. • Do they communicate your message clearly? • I think my ‘about us’ page does the best job, over my posters and merchandise at communicating and making my audience realise what the campaigns and charity is about and our message as whole because I have designed it so it clearly states ‘Our Vision’ along with other similar pieces of information which explains our message to my target audience, by providing this information I think it would encourage more people to visit the site as people would be able to understand it easily and like this side of it. • Are they appropriate for your target audience? • I think this website is fully suitable for my target audience as because I wanted to target all ages, I had to take extra care in making sure my website did not contain anything that wasn’t suitable such as graphic images that relate to my campaigns, like animals suffering from deforestation. When doing my existing products research on websites that campaign on similar things to me, I saw that they were using images like that but I decided not to take inspiration from this as I believe that would've narrowed my target audience down as that wouldn’t of been suitable for younger children. I also think my ‘about us’ website page is suitable for my ‘all ages’ target audience as I have used language that is simple and easy to understand, therefore this helps to not exclude any different types of people from my campaign. I have also designed this web page so that it is easy to navigate- therefore this helps to appeal to older generations too which are stereotyped as being challenged by technology, this again helps to meet one of my intended purposes of making my website accessible and easy for all to use.
  • 18. Website ‘About Us’ Page Evaluation Continued… • Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at. • I have stuck well to my original intentions when creating my website and I have stuck to inspiration I said I would take from the websites I looked at when planning my website, for example when creating my mood board ideas I looked at the WWF website and from this I liked the idea of having lots of ways for their audience to donate, and my original intention was to have something like this on my website but because I found I didn’t have much room I only added a ‘donate’ button across the menu bar- this is something I would go back to develop and change as obviously donations would be important to my charity so I need my audience to see they can easily do that. Another one of my original intentions when planning my website was to have a banner across the top, I saw this on the Greenpeace website and I thought it looked eye-catching and would be effective in making them want to read on about rescue our rainforests. So I decided to take this and develop it on my website, however instead of just putting one campaign on my banner I decided I would feature all my campaigns- I thought this would give my audience a better idea of what the charity is about and it is an easy way of accessing details about all of my campaigns just by clicking on the banner. I also think this looks good too as it is colourful and eye catching on the top of the page which will appeal to my to my audience as many other websites that cover similar topics are gloomy so the audience would hopefully prefer to look and read about something not as serious. Another intention when creating my website was to have a full contact us page like Rainforest Rescue have, which people could click on to contact the charity to find out more information and give any feedback. This is an intention which has changed significantly during production as I have not made a full contact us page and I have only created a ‘contact us’ link at the bottom of the page because I didn’t want to make the menu bar too full, however, I still think this works well because a lot of other websites just have a contact us link at the bottom too- I also think having it at the bottom still works well because it is large and bold enough for people to see it easily. Another original intention was to create two pages of a website that have a consistent style in both and also both match the posters and I feel this has been achieved when looking at the final outcome. Overall, a lot of my original intentions have developed and changed during production but I expected this because my ideas always develop and change depending on what is working for the campaign and what isn’t. • How effective are the techniques you have used?
  • 19. Website ‘About Us’ Page Evaluation Continued… • Is the content effective? • My ‘about us’ page has a lot of content telling the audience about what Rescue Our Rainforests stands for and ‘our vision’ as well as how the audience can ‘help us’. I decided to add this information so that my audience would find my charity and campaigns more accessible and easy to understand. I also think the content of my website is effective because it is laid out in a clear and informative way so that anyone who stumbles across the site knows immediately what topics and issues we cover. I also think that my website is effective because I asked on my feedback survey a general quantitative question ‘Do you think the campaign content is effective?’ and all the responses I received ticked ‘yes’, therefore suggesting my audience also think the content is effective. This was obviously a very general question but I also got some more specific feedback on the content of the website and a member of my audience stated ‘the content and layout of the website is very effective and has a consistent style to the posters.’ I am pleased my audience think this because that means that the website has also met its original intention of having a consistent style that match the posters. • What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public? • I think If was to do this properly and put my campaign out to the public I would have a very positive response from the ‘about us’ website page because when comparing it to existing products and websites I researched from charities such as WWF, Greenpeace and Rainforest Rescue I think it looks professional and follows typical codes and conventions of other ‘about us’ website pages, such as simple things like showing the logo, telling the audience what we are about by having a information section, these are things which I think would make my campaign website successful if it was done properly because it is easy to use so this would appeal to my target audience. I also think my website ‘about us’ page would be successful because of the positive feedback I have received, for example some feedback I received stated ‘everything in the campaign was extremely effective and aesthetically pleasing. I think if you actually launched this campaign, it would be very successful!’ so therefore I think that the website page would have a successful effect in making my campaign reach its aim in having a successful effect in lowering deforestation.
  • 20. Website ‘About Us’ Page Evaluation Continued… • What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work? • I think there are many technical and aesthetic qualities to my ‘About Us’ website page, one technical quality being how I have used the same font for all of the website and this is also the same as what is used on the posters- as an aesthetic quality this helps to make the website more pleasing and nice to look at and therefore meaning more people are likely to use it and spread the word about the charity, therefore widening my target audience and making both my campaigns and charity more successful. Another technical quality of my website is how I have used the ruler tool on Photoshop to align everything, this makes it more aesthetically pleasing for the audience and connotes professionalism to my audience therefore making them think highly of the charity. Another technical quality of my work is how I have used various tools and techniques in order to create the banner across the top of the page- to do this I used the blend them together and used merge layers tool to make them all one layer so that they would move easily and stick together to create a banner, this has created another aesthetical quality to my work because it looks professional and eye-catching and is similar to what other charity websites do, therefore making mine seem of a similar standard to those to the audience.
  • 22. Website ‘Merchandise’ Page Evaluation • Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose? • As I mentioned when analysing my ‘about us’ web page- my idea for my fourth piece of work on my campaign, I decided to create a website so it would work hand-in-hand with my posters e.g. after viewing my posters people could look at the website to follow up their interest. One of my intended purposes for this page of the website was to give my target audience an outlet to buy Rescue Our Rainforests merchandise, I think I have successfully achieved this because the website page is clear and easy to read. • Do they communicate your message clearly? • The message of this page was to make it clear and easy to buy merchandise so yes I think it does communicate the message clearly. Another reason why I think this communicates the message clearly is because when asked a response I got from my survey was, ‘Yes, I do think that both website pages communicate the message of the campaign clearly’. • Are they appropriate for your target audience? • I also think this page of my website is fully suitable for my target audience as because I wanted to target all ages, I had to take extra care in making sure my website did not contain anything that wasn’t suitable such as graphic images that relate to my campaigns, like animals suffering from deforestation. I have also made my merchandise page suitable and appropriate for my target audience as I have designed it to be simple to use to both ends of my target audience (young/old) can interact and access it easily.
  • 23. Website ‘Merchandise’ Page Evaluation Continued… • Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at. • As I created this page after my ‘About Us’ page my main intention was to keep it to a similar style throughout e.g. same fonts and colours used/same layout of pages etc. I think I have achieved this and that helps to make it look more professional and of a higher standard which would make my campaign more popular and successful. However, one intention I didn’t stick to from my planning was the idea of having a scroll down bar on the right side of the merchandise box but I decided during production to change this to a Click HERE to see more merchandise button because I thought this was more obvious and easy for my target audience. Another original intention was to make the merchandise clear to see and so it stands out, I think I have achieved this. • How effective are the techniques you have used? • Techniques are the same as mentioned on slide 15. “I think this website is fully suitable for my target audience as because I wanted to target all ages, I had to take extra care in making sure my website did not contain anything that wasn’t suitable such as graphic images that relate to my campaigns, like animals suffering from deforestation. I have also designed this web page so that it is easy to navigate- therefore this helps to appeal to older generations too which are stereotyped as being challenged by technology, this again helps to meet one of my intended purposes of making my website accessible and easy for all to use.” however a techniques I just used on this page was placing a cropping jpeg images so the audience could clearly see the merchandise on the website, I think this has been effective because the merchandise definitely stands out on the page which was one of my original intentions I mentioned above.
  • 24. Website ‘Merchandise’ Page Evaluation Continued… • Is the content effective? • I think the content of this page is effective because it features my merchandise which I think is effective in itself. However the actual content of this web page is also effective because the content Is clearly displayed making it catch the audiences eye and so therefore the content would be effective in making them more likely to purchase some of the merchandise. However, something I would perhaps improve on this page would be adding ‘all money from purchases goes back into the charity.’ as this would probably add further encouragement to the audience to buy some merchandise. • What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public? • I think this page of the website would be effective and have a positive effect on the audience and would encourage them to buy merchandise to support the campaign and charity. I think this because not only would the merchandise itself appeal to the audience but because I have designed the website to be easy to use this would also encourage them buy because its easy to do. • What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work? • I think the technical and aesthetic qualities of this page is very similar to the ‘about us’ page and the two pages are very similar. However, a technical quality of this page would be how I have aligned the text columns which described the merch so each one is directly under each other using the ruler tool- this creates an aesthetical quality because it just adds to the small things that hep to make my website page look more professional which was one of my original intentions.
  • 26. Merchandise Evaluation • Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose? • One of my intended purposes was I decided that I wanted my merchandise to be wearable for my audience so I didn’t want to create anything that they wouldn't want to wear because that would not help to put my charity out there. Another intended purpose was to create merch which appealed to all ages of my target audience and products that my target audience will find useful which would encourage them to buy them- therefore making my campaign more successful. • Do they communicate your message clearly? • I think my merchandise clearly communicates to my audience and other people that see people wearing and using the merchandise what the message of my campaign is because it shows my logo which makes it very obvious what the • Are they appropriate for your target audience? • I think my merchandise is definitely appropriate for all of my target audience as it doesn’t contain anything that is graphic/violent, I also think it is appealing and appropriate for all of my target audience because they are the sort of products that appeal to all ages and genders and something that all ages and genders will find use out of. I have also made sure that I have created both male and female versions of the same t-shirt so I don’t exclude any types of people of my target audience. I also think that I am appealing to a lot of ages in my merchandise as I have created products which will appeal to different ages (which was one of my original intentions) e.g. the notebook will appeal to the younger ages in my TA like students. • Compare and contrast your original intentions with the outcomes you arrived at. • I stuck to some of my original intentions but not all, this was because my ideas developed a lot during production as I experimented and found out what worked well and what didn’t. For example, one of my original intentions that I didn’t stick to was to take inspiration from Greenpeace by putting my web address on some pieces of the merchandise i.e. t-shirts, but I decided this wouldn’t work well or look nice and my target audience wouldn’t want to walk about with a website on them and this would compromise the success of my campaign if people didn’t like my merchandise enough to buy It because then it wouldn't be “out there” for other people to see it. One of my original intentions I have stuck to when looking back at my mood board planning is the use of neutral and khaki colours which I took inspiration from WWF for, I think this works well and goes with the topics and issues of my campaign well as they do denote/connote thoughts of the rainforest to the audience (making it even more obvious what my campaign is about when they see the merchandise) this also helps everything I have created follow a similar style in both fonts and colour.
  • 27. Merchandise Evaluation Continued… • How effective are the techniques you have used? • To create my merchandise I used the logo I had already produced to upload to Redbubble to allow me use this as a design for my merchandise, to create my logo I used many different techniques which I spoke about on slide 12 such as rotoscoping mainly with strokes and gradient techniques. As for the techniques I used to create specific pieces of merch I used tools on Redbubble such as saving the file as a png with no background so I didn’t get a block white background on coloured t-shirts. I also used a different technique on my notebook to enable me to repeat the pattern, I thought as this was quite interesting and different it would help me appeal to the youngergeneration in my target audience. • Is the content effective? • I do think the content and actual products are effective because they clearly show the logo of my campaign which then tells the audience what the campaign is about, the content (merch) is also effective because it is eye catching because the design (the logo) isvery in-your- face, this will make it memorable when people see others wearing the merchandise- therefore acting as free advertising for my charity and campaign which is what charities need. • What impact do you think your advertising campaign will have on the public? • I think having merchandise as part of my campaign will have a positive and successful effect on the public as my target audience would buy it and wear it and then inevitably my target audience will grow when more people see people wearing/using it and research into the campaign by looking at the website and posters- this will also mean that my campaign products will also go hand-in-hand and work together i.e. people see the merch and then look at the website and/or posters to follow up their interest and see what we’reabout. • What are the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work? • The technical and aesthetic qualities of my logo which makes up the design on the merchandise have already been spoken abouton slide 12. However, the technical qualities of my actual merchandise involved me saving the logo as a png with no background, this technical quality led onto an aesthetic quality because if I hadn't of done this I would've ended up with a block white background on my merchandise. Another technical quality was changing the colours of my merchandise to relate to my topic, this has made it look aesthetically pleasing because the colours are different and unusual. The aesthetic quality of my work is important because if that is of a high standard more people will but it which= more money and promotion for both the charity and my campaigns
