[object Object],The web site will be a place where MEN1 patients and family can: * Interact with others in a forum type environment * Find information on the conditions associated with MEN1 * Look up different therapies used * Decide what course of action to take

[object Object],The people behind the concept are: * Patients that have MEN1 and their families. * Doctors and Nurses that over see the patients as they go through testing.

[object Object],There are two main users of this web site: 1) The person with MEN1 The patient would look for information on what is happening to them. Checking symptoms to see if more follow-up will be needed. Looking for different options to correct a problem they have encountered. Talking with other patients to see what they did about the same problem. 2) A family member or loved one The Loved one would also be looking for information about what can happen in a MEN1 patient’s life span. What symptoms to look for that show a problem is manifesting and what steps to take to get help for the problem. Communicating with others will also help.

Scenario for Linda: Linda has been feeling very tired, she can hardly get through 4 hours of the day without being exhausted. Her weight is out of control, she has never been this heavy. She is very moody and seems to be angry all the time. After testing at the hospital she has been diagnosed with MEN1 having a pituitary tumor. Her doctors directed her to the web site so she could communicate with others.

Scenario for Zeb: Zeb has met the girl of his dreams. He has asked her to marry him, but before she can say yes he is told about the MEN1 condition that her family has. Since there is a chance she could also have the condition she has asked him to go to the web site to find out about it. And then tell her if He still wants to make the commitment.

When she was a patient at The National Institutes of Health, she had gotten allot of support from other patients in the commons room. Wanting others to be able to benefit from this type of atmosphere she and a group of others got together to make the site available to people that could not be at the hospital.

[object Object],Linda has just been told by her doctor that she has a pituitary tumor that is causing her to have the disease of Cushings. Since she has had thyroid problems in the past, He tells her that she has a condition called MEN1. Linda is devastated but relieved that something has finally been found that is causing her change in personality. Not one to sit by and let things happen, Linda asks if there are others with her condition that she can talk too. She is told that it is not very common; but that a web site is available where other people communicate about the condition. Linda goes to the web site and is able to find the page for Pituitary problems. She sees the different options for treatment that others have done to manage the problem and correct it. Linda is concerned about who would be able to find out information on herself within the web site. She is relieved to see that the Forum is secured by a log-in, and that only her name and age will show up to other users. In the forum she meets Jacqueline who has had the same problem as she does but 15 years earlier. Knowing that someone else has gone through the procedures and is still productive, puts Linda at ease, and she has also acquired a new friend.
