Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

changed, both mentally and physically, by their illnes
• Lachesis is especially suitable for people of dark complexion (88) and
bilious temperament, to ailments associated with the menopause and, as Hering
says, it is "better adapted to thin and emaciated than to fat persons.
• Two important polychrests which are the ground remedies and remedies of
morbid temperaments: Sepia and Lachesis. Both are remedies of person who are
perhaps the carriers of warts, but the sycotic condition in both of them is not pure
and not of the first importance
41. DURATION OF ACTION
• Lachesis 200, you apply 1,000,
the duration of action will be 15 days of positive
phase and next you will have one month with another

42. CLINICAL IMPORTANCE AND ITS
THERAPEUTIC USE
• Dr Kent Clinical tip
• Disorders of the cardio vascular system
• The most lovely of all uses of Lachesis is in producing Euthanasia. When there is genuine heart
failure, Lachesis will kill, but so placidly, so pleasantly, without a pain or discomfort. The patient
will go to sleep and never wake up. When the dyspnea is of the lungs and there is not a true
heart failure, there will be a wonderful relief. In true cardiac cases with vital failure, Lachesis will
hasten away the patient
• Condition
• Euthanasia
• Cardiac Failure
43. CLINICAL IMPORTANCE AND ITS

Case 42 - Lachesis
Epithelioma
1885. Mr ------- clergyman. Epithelioma of several years standing on the left upper
lid.
The scale that comes at about once in three or four weeks is dark red.
It fissures and bleeds in the spring of the year. Sometimes it pulsates. The lid is
thick and indurated.
No constitutional symptom obtained.
Lachesis 4M cured in six months.
44. CLINICAL IMPORTANCE AND ITS
THERAPEUTIC USE
Epithelioma is
an abnormal
growth of the
epithelium,
which is the
layer of tissue
that covers the
surfaces of
organs and
other structures
of the body.

THERAPEUTIC USE
• Case 47 - Lachesis
• Hemophilia
• History
Has been a bleeder since birth. Just before he was born his mother had a tooth extracted, and the bleeding from the gum
could not be stopped for a long time.
Every scratch or little cut he had would keep on bleeding until he was almost exsanguinated and then the wound would
heal. Had smallpox when a year old.
At 12 years of age he sustained a small cut on forearm, the haemorrhage from which could not be stopped. Suturing was
attempted in Pennsylvania Hospital, but this only increased the bleeding points.
Was in Hospital for 5 weeks, and when he was "bled out" the wound healed. Fracture of right thigh bone and delayed
union-8 weeks before any union was observed.
Every slight bruise followed by extensive ecchymosis. Epistaxis continued for 3 or 4 days once. Rheumatism for the past
two years, since the development of which the bleedings have not been so troublesome.
46. CLINICAL IMPORTANCE AND ITS
THERAPEUTIC USE

Bleeding from gums constantly. Small wounds bleed much. Small bruise makes him black and blue. Great thirst for, water;
hydrant water satisfied.
• Lach 41M, one dose.
• July 29.-
• Felt first rate until July 2d. Rheumatism returned to elbows-left first.

60. COMPARATIVE STUDIES WITH OTHER
HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES
• The majority of physicians make a mistake in beginning their treatment of scarlatina. A
mistake in the beginning means one of two things, either a long, tedious illness, or a
short one, ending with death. The mistake made is to give Belladonna in every case.
Let us look for a moment at the differences between Belladonna and Lachesis. Both
remedies have the strawberry tongue, the throbbing headache, the red face and the
high fever. Belladonna is indicated only in the sthenic type when there is an active
delirium, the throat is bright red in color, the pulse is full and bounding, the rash is
bright red and smooth. Lachesis on the other hand, is suitable where asthenia
predominates, with purplish, tardily-appearing rash, drowsiness, marked swelling of
the cervical glands, and other symptoms of malignancy above enumerated.
61. COMPARATIVE STUDIES WITH OTHER
HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES

flow, pain in ovaries before menstruation and disturbed sleep.
• Differentiating symptoms-Menses regular and scanty, having lot of premenstrual
complaints and chiefly left sided, talkative. Suspicious and dominant personality.
• Nat mur,: Similar symptoms Unilateral headache of reflex uterine origin, congestive
nature better in open air with pain in eye balls nasal catarrh with anosmia, obstinate
constipation.
• Differentiating symptoms-Left sided headache. Very sensitive personality with
cachetic constitution and desire for salt.

•Pulsatilla: Similar symptoms- Delayed irregular
menses, menstrual colic, amenorrhea, leucorrhoea,
nasal catarrh.

HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES
• Comparison of Lach and Nux-v
• Lach.
• Not only feels that he is going to receive the injury but also feels that he is being injured and
that too by the surroundings for which first he complains, communicates expansively and finally
laments about his sickness and condition.
• Lach. feels he has suffered wrong, for which he complaints and laments. Is careful and cautious
in his approach but very positive and objective. He feels whatever he is doing is right.
• Lach. does not believe in yielding and is not contented, keeps making complaints and keeps on
lamenting.
• At other times he may be playful and frivolous, may desire amusement and traveling.
65. COMPARATIVE STUDIES WITH OTHER
HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES
• Lach. has all the three states: despair recovery, of, doubtful recovery, of and hopeful.
During the stage of hopefulness he is frivolous and playful and in the state of despair
and doubt he complains and laments. Has a desire to be magnetized, which he can
easily be (MAGNETIZED, desire to, MAGNETIZE, easy to magnetized.) And being
magnetized amel. him. In the frivolous state he may refuse to take the medicine.
